BITS Pilani ME admission 2024 will start soon. BITS Pilani ME admissions are based on the BITS HD exam conducted by BITS. The Candidates applying with GATE or GPAT exam scores are exempted from the BITS HD admission test. 

BITS Pilani ME program is a 2-year PG degree spread across 4 semesters. The institute offers ME progrprograms6 specializations. Fees for the 2-year ME program are INR 9.74 Lacs. BITS Pilani provides a monthly stipend of INR 13,400 to its ME students who spend 8-10 hours on the coursework. Admission to the program is based on GATE/GPAT scores. Candidates applying without these scores appear for the BITS HD test conducted by the institute itself.

BITS Pilani has setup some criteria for eligibility for admission in ME course which are as follows:

• A minimum aggregate of 60% in the Graduation.
• Merit scored in BITS HD M.E exam.

BITS Pilani ME Admission Criteria

Admission to all ME/ ME courses (except Software systems) is made on the basis of marks obtained in the BITS HD admission test or based on GATE / GPAT score. Admission to M.E. in Software Systems will be through the BITS HD test only. Two separate merit lists will be prepared; one based on GATE score, and the other based on BITS HD test. 50% of the seats will be filled through GATE/GPAT scores and other 50% by BITS HD test marks.

BITS HD admission test is a computer based online test. The test consists of objective type questions. Each correct answer fetches 3 marks, while each incorrect answer has a penalty of 1 mark.

BITS Pilani ME Entrance Exam Pattern

BITS Pilani conducts two types of test for ME applicants. Test 1 is compulsory for all students who are applying for any of the Higher Degree (HD) programs. Test II is for all Higher Degree programs except for ME in Sanitation Science, Technology and Management, and Software systems. For these 3 courses, separate tests of 60 minutes duration with 50 questions are conducted.

BITS provide ME program in all three campuses. ME fees in all three campuses is approximately INR 9.74 Lacs. Breakdown of the ME fee structure is given below:

Note: Students admitted from AY 2021-22 will pay a tuition fee of INR 2,18,500 per Semester. In subsequent years (AY 2022-23, 2023-24 etc.), tuition fees will increase by @8% every year in INR. (unless the government announces any new levy/tax, which will be passed onto all existing students irrespective of their year of entry). 

Scholarships for Higher Degree BITS Pilani Programs

• Merit in Qualifying Examination- Students who have obtained aggregate marks of 75% or above in the Qualifying Examination (B.E./B.Tech) are given a merit scholarship of 20% of first semester tuition fee.
• Students who are UAE Nationals -Will be offered 50% tuition fee scholarship for the duration of the programme based on their performance in the qualifying exam and continuity of certain minimum performance during the programme.
• BITS Alumni, employees of Collaborative Organizations and Siblings/Parents of continuing students will be offered a 10% concession on the tuition fee, during the normal duration of the programme.
• Merit Scholarship for continuing students- All Students with a CGPA of 9.00 or above on a 10.00 point scale at the end of a previous semester are given a merit scholarship of 20% of tuition fee for the current semester
• Hostel Fee Concession- Higher degree students who have obtained aggregate marks of 80% or above in the Qualifying Examination (B.E./B.Tech) are given a concession of 25% on the hostel fee for the normal duration of the program.

BITS Pilani ME Data Science/ BITS Pilani ME for Working Professionals

BITS Pilani ME in Data Science is offered by WILP for working professionals. The course is approved by UGC and the classes for the same are held on weekends. Per semester fee for the program is INR 60,500.

BITS Pilani ME Data Science Eligibility Criteria

Employed professionals holding B.E. / B.Tech. / MCA / M.Sc. or equivalent with at least 60% aggregate marks or more in their qualifying exam, and minimum one-year relevant work experience are eligible to apply. Applicants should possess basic programming knowledge and adequate background in Mathematics.

BITS Pilani provides a fee waiver of INR 13,400 per month to candidates admitted through GATE / GPAT. To be eligible for the BITS Pilani ME financial assistance, the student must spend 8 - 10 hours of work per week. Consideration for fellowship will be as per Institute norms. 

BITS Pilani ME Placements 2023

BITS Pilani ME Placements are yet to conclude for the year 2023. BITS Pilani ME Placements 2022 has been successfully completed with 88.54% placement percentage. A total of 564 students got placed this year which is 18.5% higher as compared to last year.

During the 2021 placement drive, 88.54% of the batch got placed. The median salary received by the ME students stood at INR 12 LPA.

As we can see in the above table, the placement percentage increased by 7.19% & 5.78% as compared to 2020 & 2019 respectively. 476 students got placed in Placement 2020 & 564 students got placed in 2021. The number of students placed also increased by 18.5%.
