Course Details

LPU M.Tech (Food technology) admissions are currently ongoing.The university takes an entrance test, named LPUNEST for its M.Tech admission as well as getting a scholarship. The last date to apply for the LPUNEST is July 15, 2021. Candidates can take the test from home and will be monitored through AI tools and invigilators. LPUNEST 2022 will be held from June 6 - July 20. The result is declared within 24 hours after submitting the exam. Minimum 60% marks in total in B.A or B.Tech with the specialization of Food Science and Technology/ Food Engineering or Dairy Technology/ Agricultural and Food Engineering/ Biotechnology is required. M.Sc pass in the above mentioned specialisations can also appear in LPUNEST.

LPU M.Tech Food Technology Key Highlights

LPU is a popular university that offers UG, PG and Ph.D courses in different specializations.
M.Tech food technology is one of the most popular programs that teaches the students how a raw material is technically programmed for making specific food.
This program is offered in offline mode only and the duration of the program is of two years that have four semesters.
The institute offers INR 1,20,000 per semester for its M.Tech food technology program.
The exam fee of INR 3000 per semester is taken separately.

LPU M.Tech Food Technology Eligibility Criteria

Food Technology is such a course that has global demand. So, an M.Tech degree in this specialization is definitely an excellent career choice. For the admission in this course students have to maintain certain criteria. These are mentioned below -

60% total marks in B.E. or B.Tech in Food Science and Technology or Dairy Technology or Agricultural and Food Engineering or Biotechnology is needed.
M.Sc pass in Food Science and Technology or Dairy Technology or Food and Nutrition can also apply.
LPUNEST or GATE is mandatory as an entrance exam.
5% relaxation is given to North - East states specially Sikkim/Defence Personnel and their dependents/ Wards of Kashmiri Migrants.
Selection Criteria is made on the basis of the merit of the qualifying exam.

How to Apply for LPU M.Tech Food Technology?

Application Process:

The students have to register their basic details on LPU ADMIT. Then, they will get mail with an email ID. They have to login with the ID to the admission portal. Then they have to deposit the test fee for the cost of the Application form and its copy of the LPUNEST kit. The fee for the soft copy is INR 1000 (Boys) and 500 (Girls). For print copy it is INR 1500 (Boys) and 1000 (Girls).

Documents Required:

After filling the application form they have to book the time slots to appear in the exam. When they submit the form, the following documents such as - recent photographs, 10th marksheet, qualifying exam certificate, address proof etc should be attached to the form as it is required at the time of admission.

LPU M.Tech Food Technology Course Details

LPU M.Tech program consists of both theory and practical methods in each semester. Some of the informations about the course are given below -

Written exam of this course basically deals with both short and descriptive types of questions.
The exams (Practical and Written) are mainly of 3hours and the 4th semester's exam is only project based.
Minimum 40% marks is required in each individual subject in each semester. Students who pursue integrated M.Tech courses can avail the benefits of scholarships for five years.
The M.Tech course has a diverse syllabus that makes the students experts in their fields.
It is a Full time residential course with a duration of 2 years.
Attendance Requirements - 75% attendance in total and 65% in individual specializations is mandatory.
Elective Courses - Advances in Cereals and Pulses Technology, Advances in Dairy Engineering and Technology, Advances in Fruits and Vegetables Technology, Enzymes in Food Processing, Food Toxicology, Grain Storage Technology, Nutraceuticals and Health foods, Product Design and Development, Technology of meat and fish processing.

LPU M.Tech Food Technology Scholarship

LPUNEST Category 1, Category 2, Category 3 pass students will get 60%, 50%, 40% waiver of program fee respectively for each semester.

90% total in graduation or post graduation and 95% total in 12th result get INR 72000 per semester. They have to pay INR 48000 for each semester.
80-89.99% marks in graduation or post graduation and 90-94.99% marks in 12th is called category 2. They will get INR 60,000 per semester as scholarship fee.
70-79.99% marks holder in graduation or post graduation and 80- 89% marks in 12th is under category 3 section and will be provided with INR 48000 per semester as scholarship.

Lovely Professional University is pretty good in all aspects such as academics, infrastructure, faculty, ranking, etc.

LPU has a brilliant faculty base. Most of the faculty members are alumni of IITs, IIMs, NITs, etc.
The institute has a good placement record. LPU placements 2022 witnessed the highest CTC of INR 42 LPA. Major MNCs like Godrej Consumer, CEAT, Allianz, Hindustan Unilever, etc. visit the campus placement.
LPU has a good ecosystem for entrepreneurship as well. If you have a good idea, you can get seed funding from the institute.
All basic amenities are available on campus. You won’t need to go out to get anything. The campus has a central library, a shopping mall, indoor sports facilities, public and private sector banks, ATMs, etc.

LPU is one of the best private universities in the country. You can benefit a lot from attending the institute.

No, these universities almost have zero credibility. You have to realize the fact that the main goal of these big universities is to make money.

I have heard a lot of reviews from my friends who studied at these universities. Following are lesser-known facts about these universities:

During the admission, you will be told about the institute and will be assured about top-class facilities including AC in your classrooms. When you get allured in, you will face reality. Your expectations will be barely met.
Most of the teaching faculties are newly appointed with most of them having no experience in teaching at all. Most of them will vanish after that semester and again, new faculties are appointed.
Attendance criteria is very strict and teachers' way to control students. Even if you are five minutes late to the class, talking in class, or unable to answer a question in class, you are marked absent.
There is no particular format for allotting the internal assessment or Semester end exam marks. If teachers are not that fond of you, you are definitely going to have a tough time here.
Making students reappear in their exams is a new scheme of making money for these institutes. Whenever the results are out, around 80% of the class is going to fail in one or more papers. To reappear for one paper, you have to pay 5-8K.
Fee demand is very high and ROI is very low, due to which the number of students drop out every year.
You will be judged in every aspect, based on what you are wearing, that too if you are a girl. You will be sent back to hostels.

Overall it's a no-brainer to avoid attending these institutes. Paying so much when you are getting so little in return, makes literally no sense at all. So think twice before opting for any of these institutes.

Firstly, if you haven’t been able to get into Lovely Professional University, don’t get discouraged. Getting into IIMs is also a privilege. You can land decent jobs even as an IIM graduate. So just settle for the best IIM and achieve your goals.

But if you still think with one more chance you can ace the entrance exam of LPU, then take a dropout year and prepare well for it. It will be a year full of struggles but you will have to deal with it with the right spirit. Who knows you might actually get into LPA this time and fulfill your dream.

Pros-

Extremely affordable. It's a government university so the only relaxation is fees.

Cons-

Education tactics adopted are old school.

CU has a great pool of teachers. The faculties are well-experienced. You can also ask for their help any time you need it.
The management on campus is great. It is one of the safest campuses in North India. Ragging is strictly prohibited on campus.
Chandigarh University Placement - CU is conducting its 2022 placement drive. More than 757 recruiters have made around 7500 placement offers. The highest CTC offered this year is 52.11 LPA.

But CU has a strict 75% attendance policy. You will need to attend classes regularly, as there is no poxy policy.
