Course Description

VNIT Nagpur M.Tech admission 2024 will be based on the GATE scores followed by CCMT counseling. For VNIT Nagpur MTech Admission 2024, GATE Registrations have started from August 30. The closing date of regular registration is September 29, 2023. Along with that, the deadline for extended online registration or application process (with late fee) is 13^th October, 2023. Furthermore, GATE 2024 exam dates have been announced. GATE 2024 entrance exam will be held in the month of February. The exam dates for GATE 2024 is on February 3,4,10 & 11.

VNIT Nagpur offers M.Tech degree in regular mode across 21 different specializations of Engineering for a duration of two years. VNIT Nagpur MTech admission 2024 solely depends on the marks secured in the GATE exam and CCMT counselling. VNIT Nagpur MTech cutoff in overall for the year 2023 ranges from 350-543 for the general category.

VNIT Nagpur MTech program is divided into two course-work i.e., theory and projects/assignments. The minimum eligibility for VNIT Nagpur Mtech admission is a BTech degree with 6.5 CGPA or 60% marks in aggregate from any recognised university. Candidates must qualify the GATE exam with valid score and further registering for CCMT counselling. The CCMT will allot seats at the institute and the candidates will have options to freeze, slide or float the allotted seats.

VNIT M.Tech Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for the M.Tech program are as follows:

Candidate must have completed B.Tech/BE in the relevant stream from a recognized institute
A CGPA of 6.5 on a 10 point scale or 60% score for the OBC/ OC category in the qualifying bachelor’s degree
A CGPA of 6.0 on a 10 point scale or 55% score for SC/ ST/ PWD in the bachelor’s degree with the relevant discipline
Other than the criteria above a student must have a valid GATE score for the admission process

VNIT M.Tech Admission Guidelines

Interested students have to appear for the GATE Entrance Exam. Then they need to appear for CCMT counseling, where they will do the choice filling for the programs and colleges they desire for admission in.

The CCMT counseling will do the shortlisting of candidates, based on their GATE rank. Shortlisted applicants will be offered admission.

After successful registration, candidates will get access to GOAPS with the credentials you entered.
Login using GOAPS Enrollment ID and GOAPS Password
Fill in the GATE application form.
Upload Image, Signature, Eligibility Certificate, SC/ST Certificate, and PwD Certificate as per the given specifications.
Make the Payment through credit card, debit card, or net banking.
Read and accept the declaration statement and submit the application form.

Ques. What are the one-time extra charges charged in the 1st year of VNIT M.Tech?

Ans. The college charges one-time fees in the M.Tech program where the student needs to submit a library deposit of Rs. 5000, Caution deposit of Rs. 5000, Identity Card charges of Rs. 200, Medical Exam charges of Rs. 100, Welfare Fund of Rs. 600 and Medical Aid Fund of Rs. 2000 making a total of Rs. 12,900 as extra charges and hence total payable amount reaches to Rs. 93,600.

Ques. Can the student take any elective course in M.tech in Computer science Engineering at VNIT?

Ans. Yes, the student has the option to take one of the elective courses among pattern recognition, cloud computing, or advance digital signal processing in the 1st semester; one of the elective courses among Soft computing techniques, software architecture, or Advances in data mining.

Ques. What is the placement procedure followed at VNIT for M.Tech students?

Ans. The college has a separate Training and Placement cell for placement training where the college conducts workshops on soft skills development, online test modules on technical knowledge and aptitude and the college follows particular placement guidelines wherein a student once applied has to appear for the complete process and should only apply for the company really willing to join.

Ques. How are the hostel accommodations for M.Tech students at VNIT?

Ans. The college provides single bed accommodation for Final year B. Tech students, M. Tech and Ph.D. students, and all other facilities are also available as the students have access to the indoor games and the sports facilities. The First, second, and third-year B. Tech students however get accommodation of usually 4 or 2/3 sharing having common gaming facilities with other M. Tech students.

VNIT for metallurgy would be a suitable choice for you if you don’t have a particular liking. Apart from that, the metallurgy of VNIT holds an enviable position in India. The syllabus for metallurgy is vast and involves a lot of memorization. If you want CS and unfortunately end up not getting it, the next logical step would be to choose IT. The syllabus of IT and CS are almost the same. In the big picture, it will have little importance if you complete your B.Tech from VNIT or NIT Raipur. You will have a degree and you will not regret the decision you made. IT has a lot of scopes. Later down the road, if you want to continue with your higher studies, you will be capable of switching to almost any department pertaining to computers. IT from NIT Raipur is an excellent choice. The scope in the metallurgy sector is limited nowadays. It is obviously your call, though. There is vast scope in IT like research, job, etc.

If you are not sure about the branch then let me share some facts I got to know while researching about the institutes. NIRF Engineering Ranking 2020 – VNIT Nagpur is ranked 27 while NIT Surathkal is ranked 13. Academics – In this regard both are equal. Some professors are good and some are really bad. Extra-Curricular Activities – NIT Surathkal is way better than VNIT Nagpur. You will always find some activity happening on the campus. VNIT Nagpur does not have any such activities being conducted regularly. Campus location – VNIT Nagpur is actually better than NIT Surathkal. Although the Surathkal beach which is right beside the college looks good in photos, the same cannot be said in person. The VNIT Nagpur campus on the other hand is clean and green. Workshops – At VNIT Nagpur most of the workshops organized by the clubs are paid while at NIT Surathkal most of them were free and open to all. VJTI Mumbai is better than VNIT Nagpur. Located in Mumbai, it offers good insight into market trends and current industry practices. The institute has a dedicated faculty pool. Many of the professors are actively engaged in research. VJIT placements are excellent. During 2021 campus drive, Google offered the highest CTC of INR 58 LPA. Microsft, Apple, and Amazon were some of the other major recruiters.
