Ahmedabad University is a private university established by the Ahmedabad Education Society. It started functioning in 2009. The university offers undergraduate courses in Arts, Science, Commerce, Engineering, and Management.

Apart from regular UG programs, Ahmedabad University also offers Integrated MBA and integrated M.Sc. of 5 years duration. The University also offers post-graduation programs in Arts, Engineering, and Management and doctoral programs in Engineering, Management, and Science.

For admission to all the UG programs, except B.Tech, the selection is done on the basis of academic performance, extracurricular activities, a personal statement followed by personal interaction
For admission in B.Tech, the selection is done on the basis of AIR of JEE Mains followed by counselling.
For admission to the M.Tech program, candidates need to qualify GATE. The candidates without a valid GATE score have to appear in the written test conducted by the university
For admission to the MBA program, the selection is done on the basis of CAT/MAT/CMAT/ NMAT/XAT score followed by personal interaction.
For MA admission, candidates need to have a valid score in GRE or GMAT/GATE/CAT or equivalent
For admission to Ph.D. programs, candidates with CSIR/DBT/ UGC-NET/ DST/ ICMR/ JEST fellowships need not appear in the written test.
The selection is done on the basis of academic record, work experience, research aptitude, and performance on test and interview

No entrance test is conducted by the university. Standardized test scores are not compulsory. However, students having scores in tests like SAT, NEET, UGAT, ACT, etc. may mention it in the admission application form.

Allocation of 50% of seats is done through the Admission Committee for Professional Courses. Applications for admission are accepted online.

JEE Mains

The application fee for taking this exam varies with the type of candidature. The application fee for the general category is INR 325. The following section throws light on the requirements and the process of registration for JEE Mains.

Documents Required

Scanned and recent photograph coloured or black/white (but clear contrast) JPG/JPEG format. Size should be between 10 kb to 200 kb.
Scanned signature in JPG/JPEG format. Size should be between 4 kb to 30 kb.
Application forms with unclear photographs will be rejected.

Visit the official website of JEE Main and click on “Fill Online Application Form”.
Register by giving your personal details, to generate a user id and password.
The application number will be generated after submitting the details for registration.
The form requires personal details, address, and mobile number.
You can set your security question and password to access the application for the future.
Submit the application form by logging in with the same user id and password that you had set.

How to Apply for GATE?

The applications are accepted through the official website of GOAPS. Where the applicant must register first to create a new registration using one unique email id.

Scanned photograph and signature
Valid Photo ID (Aadhaar Card/Passport/Driving License/PAN Card/Voter ID/College ID/Employee Identification Card/Notarized Affidavit with Photo, Signature, Date of Birth and Residential Address).
Degree Certificate/Provisional Certificate/Course Completion Certificate.
Copy of mark sheet of V /VI /VII semester.
Final year students must submit Provisional Certificate Letter as per format issued by the Home of Institute/Dean/Registrar/Head of Dept.
Candidates in the final year of AMIE have to submit their mark sheet for Section A of AMIE in case of professional equivalent qualifications.
Caste Certificate/Disability or PwD Certificate (if applicable).
Candidates pursuing a higher degree or masters have to submit the qualifying degree certificate.

Admission to the Ph.D. Program is done on the basis of academic record, work experience, research aptitude, and performance on test and interview
A written test and interview are conducted by the School of Engineering. Candidates having valid GATE score and Applied Science and School of Arts and Sciences.
School of Arts and Sciences also conducts written test and interviews. Candidates with CSIR/DBT/ UGC/ DST/ ICMR/ JEST fellowships need not appear in the written test.

One of my friends pursued his BBA degree from Ahmedabad University. His review regarding the institute is as follows. Regardless of the course, you are pursuing, you need to stay engaged in your studies throughout the year at AU. You can’t mug up your books right before your examination and score well. You will have quizzes, case studies, presentations, etc. almost before every class. It offers a wide range of courses. You will need to make your own timetable for the subjects that you choose. The faculty of the institute is helpful. You can talk to them about your area of interest. There are many clubs that you can join. Every Wednesday, different club events take place.

The decision depends upon your area of interest. Talking about IET, it is one of the best colleges and mainly focuses on project-based learning and you will get projects for every subject. Also, the faculty is very experienced and highly qualified. Most of them are from foreign universities. In mechanical there are best faculties and labs. DDU is a government Institute. IT field of DDU as I have heard is good and has good faculties. If you love coding and algorithms you should opt for it, or if you love moving things and analyzing them you should opt for IET.
