Honest College review: Ahmedabad University
Likes
- The campus of the college is fabulous, students can stay for 12-15 hours without any complain. There is student lounge for students where they can enjoy their free time.
- The faculty of the each course is actually an expert in their own field, they are freindly as well as interective in class, if we have any doubt they help us individully to solve it.
- The campus is 24/7 open for the students even in vaation and holidays. One of the library is also 24/7 for students to work. Campus is cleaned daily hence we cannot even see a piece of paper lying around in campus.
- Placement oppurtunities are best, companies like google visit here every year and college has the average placement of around 10 lacs, which is really good.
- Before starting of the course students are provided with the outline for the course in which the number of session of that course and what will we do in that session is mentioned.
- Every faculty, programme office members and workers are helpful and they help us even in small problems.
- Full out-of-india strategies are applied in the University and hence laptop is compulsory. Even for the students persuing major in psychology or in BBA.Students need to bring laptop everyday in college.
- There are various programme by which you can earn in University like work-study program and being a TA which can increase your work experience.
Dislikes
- The timing of the college is really too much. I am attending college of around 11-12 hours on monday and tuesday while the rest of the day i have lectures till 3pm or sometimes 12:30pm
Remarks :
I choose this college because of the high placement oppurtunities and the campus of this college. In comapre to other colleges my college is forward in terms of management as well as the learning outcomes. It has various clubs to participate and lot of addictional activites to do in the campus. I couldn't make it to the other colleges that is mainly becuase of the marks that I scored. I applied to 2 other colleges, first in new LJ college but because of campus and course curriculum I didn't join the college and second was indus university, I left that college cause my first preference was AU. I also applied in nirma univerisy and PDEU but I got mechanical and I wanted to do CSE so I didn't take it. I did not get rejected but I was offered a different branch and I did not want it. The admission in AU in course enginnering happens mainly on 2 things that is JEE and ACPC. To qualify you need to score atleast 90 percentile or above in JEE(priority) and above 93 percentile in ACPC.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The curriculum is designed in a well organised manner, in which we go step by step to every part of our coursr, as a student of computer science in 1st year I learned about the languages and now in 2nd year I am learning DSA. But in respect to the core courses being related to CSE I do have more courses of electronics. The curriculum designed is best for the real life problems as the assignments are based on real life problems. I can say that if the courses related to electronics were less and related to computer Science were more, it would have made more impact on students. The difficulty level of exams and assignments are pretty normal, if you have studied in the course and you know what the course is then exams are pretty easy for you. Some faculty sometimes make hard exam papers but not to worry about anything as the grade scale can be of relative grading.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
YEAR WISE FEE STRUCTURE: The fee structuer of the Ahmedabad Univeristy is as follow(in Indian rupees): Semister fee for B-tech: 175000/- Annual fee for B-tech: 350000/- This fee structure is for the year 2024-25 and every year there might be an increment of 6% to 9%. I paid 320000/- rupees for the 1st year that was 2023-24 and now the fees has increased to 350000/-(per year). In future we might see the increment according to the stated conditions. Additional Cost with the tuition fees(year 2024-25): Tuition fee: 350000/- registration fees(at the time of admission): 250/-(tentative) Total fee(4 years)-1400000/- There is no management quota in Ahmedabad Univesity and if University allows then the fee structure is same. No changes in fee for ST and SC or any other category. Even my batchmates(of other category) pay the same fees. Scholarships: Merit Based(By AU): if above 3.0 GPA(out of 4) Income based Scholarship: above 70000 full fees
Campus Life :
Overall Experience in the college has been really great. There is campus life as well as the academic life in AU. There are tech fest held in AU such as ingenium tech fest which helds in the month of January-february and even hackathons are held where the students have to stay in college for 2-3 days. There are 3 libraries in the University out of which 2 are in central campus nd 1 is in east campus. 1 library is 24/7 and it have wide range of books including academic and non-academic books. But all the course relatedd books are given by the Univerity to each students as the cost in included in the fees. Facilities in the classroom are also good, it has speakers and mics for the faculty, a big greenboard and projector screen, there are charging ports available at few desk and some classroom are circular and some are step wise. Sport tournament is also held and some sport are compuslory for the 1st year. There are many clubs around 18-20 clubs in AU of different domain.
Faculty :
Faculties at my University are really friendly and they help us in every way possible. Faculties solves every doubt of students in the class itself and even if students E-mail the faculty related any doubt, faculties reply us to meet them and they explain us evry doubt we have no matter how many we have. Faculties such as Prof. Kuntal Patel, Prof. Bimal Das, Prof. Mehul Raval, explain the course in detail so that we understand each information correct. Prof. Baibhav Gupta ask each student if we are facing difficulties and helps us to solve the. I would say these 3 stated faculties are best. There are few facculties which does not explain the full thing, hence students does not understand the things taught by them. The curriculum of the course is well designed, there are mid term exams, end term exams, assignments and quizzes in each course which are all graded. Some courses does not have mid term and end term exams, few courses does have open book exams.
