NATIONAL LEVEL OFFLINE TEST

    NID DAT 2023 Selection Process: Dates, Personal Interview, Studio Test

    NID DAT 2023 Selection Process: National Institute of Design conducts NID DAT through written tests (including prelims and mains) followed by studio test and personal interview for admissions into B.Des/GDPD and M.Des courses. 

    • NID DAT Mains Interview is tentatively scheduled to commence on April 2023.  The exact date and time is going to be provided on the admit card for the interview.
    • NID DAT written test is the first step in the selection process. Based on the scores obtained in step 1, shortlisted candidates for B.Des. and M.Des. have to appear for step 2 (Studio Test) and Step 3 (Personal Interview) of the NID DAT Selection Process. CheckNID Cut Off
    • The primary objective of this selection process is to assess the perception, attitude, aptitude, achievement, and motivation essential in a potential design student. Admission to various UG and PG Level programs is subject to the candidate passing the subsequent Studio Test and Personal Interview successfully. Check NID DAT 2023 Merit List 

    Candidates must note that NID reserves the right to verify the information provided by the candidate at any stage of the selection procedure. Candidates who fail to meet the criteria or have provided any fake information would be immediately debarred from participating any further in NID DAT 2023 Admission Process.     NID DAT Admission Criteria

    National Insitute of Design (NID) has changed the weightage allocated to NID DAT Prelims and NID DAT Mains while preparing the final result for NID B.Des. admission 2023. As per the earlier shortlisting criteria, the weightage allocated to each exam in B.Des course was 60% and NID DAT Mains weightage was 40%. However, the new weightage allocated to each of the exams for NID admission 2023 (for all M.Des specializations) is tabulated below:

    Tie-Breaking Criteria (Revised) for B.Des./GDPD

    • Better position will be given to the candidate's who secure higher marks in DAT mains exam.
    • If the tie still exists, the candidate that scored higher marks in DAT prelims will be given the higher rank.
    • If the tie still exists, higher rank will be assigned to the candidate who has obtained higher marks in DAT prelims exam - Part II
    • If the tie still persist, higher rank will be given to the candidate who secures higher total marks in DAT prelims exam - Part II questions no. 25,26 and 27.
    • If the tie remains still, a candidate who obtained better marks in question No.25 of the DAT prelims exam - Part II will be given the higher rank
    • If the tie remains, a candidate who has secured higher marks in question No. 26 of the DAT prelims exam - Part II will be given a higher rank.
    NID DAT Studio Test

    NID DAT 2023 Studio Test

    Studio Test is the second step in the Selection Procedure of NID DAT 2023. A candidate after clearing the Design Aptitude Test (DAT), has to appear for the Studio Test. Only shortlisted candidates, based on the scores obtained in the first step of NID DAT 2023 Selection Procedure i.e. DAT (Design Aptitude Test) will be eligible to participate in the Studio Tests and Personal Interview. There will be separate NID Admit Card issued for Studio Tests and Personal Interviews. Admit cards are available for the shortlisted candidates on the official admission portal of NID - admissions.nid.edu. A candidate without a valid admit card will not be allowed to appear for the Studio Test.

    Important Guidelines For Studio Test for B.Des. Candidates

    • The studio test will be of 100 marks.
    • Studio Test for B. Des Applicants will be conducted at Ahmedabad campus only.
    • The studio test consists of various sections in different formats such as hands-on practical assignments.
    • The next step after the studio test faced by the candidates is a personal interview.

    Studio Test for M.Des. Candidates

    • The studio test for M.Des. candidates carries 100 marks
    • The medium in which the test is conducted in English language only
    • The studio Tests will be conducted separately for each discipline of specialization
    • The studio test consists of various sections in different formats such as hands-on practical assignments and group discussion
    • Studio Test is followed by the personal interview for candidates interested in taking admission into M.Des. program

    The final step in NID DAT 2023 Selection Procedure after successfully clearing the studio test is to face the personal interview. A personal interview is the third and last step of NID DAT 2023 Selection Process. With the completion of the personal interview Selection Procedure for NID DAT 2023 ends and candidates are evaluated on the basis of the three-tier selection method.

    Personal Interviews for B.Des. Candidates

    • Personal interview is the last stage of NID DAT 2023 Selection process
    • The Personal Interviews are conducted immediately after the studio tests for B.Des. applicants
    • The Test Center remains the same for both Studio Tests and Personal interviews i.e. Ahmedabad
    • Candidates are advised to maintain discipline and patience during the personal interview

    Personal Interviews for M.Des. Candidates

    • The personal interview is the final stage of the selection procedure for NID DAT 2023 M. Des Admissions
    • The Personal Interviews are conducted separately for each discipline of specialization
    • The personal interview is conducted immediately after the studio tests for candidates interested in taking admission to M.Des. program
    • The interview is conducted at the same test center where the studio test was held for all the respective candidates.

    There are three designated Test centers that are allotted to candidates appearing for the studio test and personal interviews which are Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, and Gandhinagar. Candidates are then evaluated on the basis of scores obtained in all three steps of the selection procedure for NID DAT 2023 i.e. Design Aptitude Test, Studio Test, and Personal Interview.

    The studio test for B. Des. will take place at the Ahmedabad campus only. Overseas candidates seeking admission in B. Des and M. Des. will also have to appear for Studio tests and Interviews at the Ahmedabad campus only.  After the completion of the studio test, a personal interview is conducted for judging applicants’ ability, personality, and dedication toward the course, in person.
