NATIONAL LEVEL OFFLINE TEST
NID DAT 2023 Selection Process: National Institute of Design conducts NID DAT through written tests (including prelims and mains) followed by studio test and personal interview for admissions into B.Des/GDPD and M.Des courses.
Candidates must note that NID reserves the right to verify the information provided by the candidate at any stage of the selection procedure. Candidates who fail to meet the criteria or have provided any fake information would be immediately debarred from participating any further in NID DAT 2023 Admission Process. National Insitute of Design (NID) has changed the weightage allocated to NID DAT Prelims and NID DAT Mains while preparing the final result for NID B.Des. admission 2023. As per the earlier shortlisting criteria, the weightage allocated to each exam in B.Des course was 60% and NID DAT Mains weightage was 40%. However, the new weightage allocated to each of the exams for NID admission 2023 (for all M.Des specializations) is tabulated below:

Studio Test is the second step in the Selection Procedure of NID DAT 2023. A candidate after clearing the Design Aptitude Test (DAT), has to appear for the Studio Test. Only shortlisted candidates, based on the scores obtained in the first step of NID DAT 2023 Selection Procedure i.e. DAT (Design Aptitude Test) will be eligible to participate in the Studio Tests and Personal Interview. There will be separate NID Admit Card issued for Studio Tests and Personal Interviews. Admit cards are available for the shortlisted candidates on the official admission portal of NID - admissions.nid.edu. A candidate without a valid admit card will not be allowed to appear for the Studio Test.

The final step in NID DAT 2023 Selection Procedure after successfully clearing the studio test is to face the personal interview. A personal interview is the third and last step of NID DAT 2023 Selection Process. With the completion of the personal interview Selection Procedure for NID DAT 2023 ends and candidates are evaluated on the basis of the three-tier selection method.
There are three designated Test centers that are allotted to candidates appearing for the studio test and personal interviews which are Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, and Gandhinagar. Candidates are then evaluated on the basis of scores obtained in all three steps of the selection procedure for NID DAT 2023 i.e. Design Aptitude Test, Studio Test, and Personal Interview.
The studio test for B. Des. will take place at the Ahmedabad campus only. Overseas candidates seeking admission in B. Des and M. Des. will also have to appear for Studio tests and Interviews at the Ahmedabad campus only. After the completion of the studio test, a personal interview is conducted for judging applicants’ ability, personality, and dedication toward the course, in person.
