The institute offers the B.E programme at undergraduate level in 6 different specializations.

For admissions, candidates have to appear for WBJEE which is conducted by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board. Furthermore, Lateral admission is also granted to the candidates who meet the criteria and have a valid JELET score

Tuition Fee for Foreign Candidates: Rs. 65.000 per Year

Eligibility Criteria

Intermediate (10+2) in Math, Physics and Chemistry with not less than 45% Aggregate (40% in case of SC/ST students) and at least 30% of marks in English from recognized board.

Selection Criteria

Admissions into the B.E programme is granted on the basis of counseling of candidates based on their ranks in WBJEE. Furthermore, lateral entry is offered on the basis of JELET score.

Key points:

There are no seats for management quota.
In each programme 3 seats are for Tuition Fee Waiver Candidates.
Candidates must be 17 years of age or above as on December 31.
An application fee of INR 500 + bank’s service charges are required to be paid at the time of counselling.
Candidates are required to carry all the documents in the counselling which is followed by WBJEE.

Which one would be a better choice for pursuing B.Tech both institute wise as well as placement wise University Institute of Technology Burdwan CSE or Silicon Institute of Technology CSE ?

UIT Burdwan is not a good choice when compared to Silicon Institute of Technology. You should avoid going there. The following are the points to be considered. UIT Burdwan is Government funded and affiliated with Burdwan University. But the intake of 60 undergraduate students is low. It accepts only WBJEE ranks for admission. The placement in UIT Burdwan is also poor. It offers limited internship opportunities for the students. A few of the top recruiters in CSE include TCS, Infotech, Infosys, IBM, L&T, and more. The placement statistics are below. Lowest Salary INR 2.4 LPA Average Salary INR 4 LPA Highest Salary INR 8.5 LPA Placement Percentage 50% UIT Burdwan is not the best place to get admission. The curriculum is old, so college life seems like a time killer. However, if inclined towards CSE or IT branch, look for colleges in Bangalore. It is the Silicon Valley of India and a hub for major IT companies.

Overall, UIT Burdwan University is not that great. However, if you are only considering the electrical engineering department of the institute, then it is quite good. The faculties are extremely supportive and helpful towards students. They are well-experienced. But don’t expect to score easily. You will have to study hard to score good marks in examinations. The institute offers good lab amenities as well. However, unlike many other universities, UIT Burdwan University does not quite provide the best technical or practical knowledge. It is up to you to make the most of your time at the institute.

Whats the attendance policy in University Institute of Technology Burdwan?

Ans

The attendance percentage usually mandated by the University Institute of Technology is 75%. In case your attendance percentage comes out lower than that, supposedly up to 45% or 50%, it is likely that you would only be allowed to sit for the semester exams after paying a fine of INR 600 /-. If your attendance drops lower than that, the administration can call your parents or you will have to apply for readmission. These are the official rules.
