University Institute of Technology, Burdwan University BTech admissions are based on WBJEE Score/ JEE Main Score. The application process for WBJEE has commenced on December 28, 2023. The last date for the WBJEE registration 2024 is on January 31, 2024. Candidates can register for the WBJEE 2024 at wbjeeb.nic.in. WBJEE Exam Date 2024 is April 28, 2024.

University Institute of Technology is an engineering institute established in 1999 in Burdwan, West Bengal, India under the direct control of the University of Burdwan.

UIT Burdwan is affiliated to University of Burdwan and is approved by the AICTE, UGC and NBA.

The institute offers an undergraduate programme in B.E under 6 specializations and a postgraduate programme in M.E under 2 specializations.

Admissions into the B.E programme is on the basis of WBJEE and lateral entry is granted on the basis of JELET examination. For M.E, admission is granted on the basis of GATE Score.

The institute offers the B.E programme at undergraduate level in 6 different specializations.

For admissions, candidates have to appear for WBJEE which is conducted by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board. Furthermore, Lateral admission is also granted to the candidates who meet the criteria and have a valid JELET score

Eligibility Criteria

Intermediate (10+2) in Math, Physics and Chemistry with not less than 45% Aggregate (40% in case of SC/ST students) and at least 30% of marks in English from recognized board.

Selection Criteria

Admissions into the B.E programme is granted on the basis of counseling of candidates based on their ranks in WBJEE. Furthermore, lateral entry is offered on the basis of JELET score.

Key points:

There are no seats for management quota.
In each programme 3 seats are for Tuition Fee Waiver Candidates.
Candidates must be 17 years of age or above as on December 31.
An application fee of INR 500 + bank’s service charges are required to be paid at the time of counselling.
Candidates are required to carry all the documents in the counselling which is followed by WBJEE.

The institute offers Master of Engineering under two specializations, namely - Electronics and Instrumentation and Computer Science Engineering.

Candidates applying for admissions into M.E Courses would be classified in three categories:

Category A: GATE-qualified B.E/B.Tech candidates.
Category B: Sponsored Candidates having at least 2 years’ working experience in related field after passing out
Category C: Non-GATE B.E/B Tech candidates.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in B.E or B.Tech in the concerned discipline from a recognized university.

Selection Criteria

Admission into the M.E programme is granted primarily on the basis of GATE score. Furthermore, Sponsored candidates and Non-GATE candidates may also be granted admission, if the seats are vacant.

Key points:

A written test of one-hour duration will be held to prepare a short list of candidates failing under category C.
In this category, 60% of the seats are reserved for Burdwan University candidates and the rest 40% for the candidates of other universities.
Aspiring candidates for admissions in the M.E Program are required to apply for GATE.
GATE qualified candidates will be given preference for admission into M.E Courses.

UIT, University of Burdwan Application Process 2023

The application process is available in offline mode. Candidates are required to follow the following steps:

Download the application form from the official website or collect it from the registration desk of the institute
Fill the important details, viz; personal, educational, professional details duly and correctly.
Attach the educational certificates along with the filled in application form.
Candidates, finally selected for admission, must collect the Admission Brochure along with the Admission Form personally from the Sales Counter of the UIT.
The filled-in forms must be submitted to the office of the undersigned at the time of admission.
An amount of INR 300 has to be paid by a Bank Draft drawn in favor of “University Institute of Technology” payable at Burdwan at the time of admission for admission brochure.

Remarks:

You can apply via wbjee ranking and decentralized counselling. Application and other admission-related information could be found on the official website of the college. Reservations according to sc, st, obc, twf and others are available but I have not availed being general.

Remarks:

Our college takes admission in two ways: First, through wbjee counselling, it is available for both West Bengal domicile and All India quota. Second through decentralized counselling by your board's exam. The application of the decentralized counselling is available at uit.bruv.ac.in There are reservations for SC ST and PWD. Admission fees are 41900.

Remarks:

Firstly if you want to take admitted to this college then you have to Appear and Qualify WBJEE or JEE Mains Examination and then after the counseling process, you could opt for the college. You can get benefits of Reservation in this college and also TFW Benefits could be obtained for the tuition fees. The remaining vacant seats after counseling are filled by Decentralised counseling conducted at College Campus according to vacancy and Ranks.

Which one would be a better choice for pursuing B.Tech both institute wise as well as placement wise University Institute of Technology Burdwan CSE or Silicon Institute of Technology CSE ?

Ans

UIT Burdwan is not a good choice when compared to Silicon Institute of Technology. You should avoid going there. The following are the points to be considered. UIT Burdwan is Government funded and affiliated with Burdwan University. But the intake of 60 undergraduate students is low. It accepts only WBJEE ranks for admission. The placement in UIT Burdwan is also poor. It offers limited internship opportunities for the students. A few of the top recruiters in CSE include TCS, Infotech, Infosys, IBM, L&T, and more. The placement statistics are below. Lowest Salary INR 2.4 LPA Average Salary INR 4 LPA Highest Salary INR 8.5 LPA Placement Percentage 50% UIT Burdwan is not the best place to get admission. The curriculum is old, so college life seems like a time killer. However, if inclined towards CSE or IT branch, look for colleges in Bangalore. It is the Silicon Valley of India and a hub for major IT companies.

Overall, UIT Burdwan University is not that great. However, if you are only considering the electrical engineering department of the institute, then it is quite good. The faculties are extremely supportive and helpful towards students. They are well-experienced. But don’t expect to score easily. You will have to study hard to score good marks in examinations. The institute offers good lab amenities as well. However, unlike many other universities, UIT Burdwan University does not quite provide the best technical or practical knowledge. It is up to you to make the most of your time at the institute.

Whats the attendance policy in University Institute of Technology Burdwan?

Ans

The attendance percentage usually mandated by the University Institute of Technology is 75%. In case your attendance percentage comes out lower than that, supposedly up to 45% or 50%, it is likely that you would only be allowed to sit for the semester exams after paying a fine of INR 600 /-. If your attendance drops lower than that, the administration can call your parents or you will have to apply for readmission. These are the official rules.
