A CSE degree from Dayanand Sagar College of Engineering is definitely better than ISE from Bangalore Institute of Technology.
According to one of my seniors, if the parameters of placement and college life are considered then the ranking would be as follows: -
Dayanand Sagar College> B.I.T> BMSIT and RNSIT
My senior is a student of B.I.T and he has also been to Dayanand Sagar College a couple of times for some cultural events.
B.I.T is located in V.V Puram and lacks all these facilities. In terms of placement Dayanand Sagar College is at a par with B.I.T however RNSIT and BMSIT both lag behind these institutes in terms of campus life and placement stats, records.
Bangalore Institute of Technology will be better in terms of placements. It doesn’t necessarily mean that DSCE offers bad placements, but it's not as good as BIT. According to the recent placement highlights, the average CTC for the institute is around INR 6-8 LPA.
BIT Bangalore fees are also less compared to DSCE. A BE program from BIT costs around INR 2.35 lakhs. But DSCE offers a better campus life.
Both RNSIT and Bangalore institute of technology are good options for pursuing CSE which makes it difficult to choose which institute is better. Given below is a brief discussion that will give you an inside into the CSE programs offered by these two institutes.
B.E in CSE at RNSIT has an intake of 180 students and the course fee is 1.98 lakh. The department has 3 Professors, 3 Associate Professors, 21 Assistant Professors, and 10 qualified Technical support staff members. The placement rate for CSE at RNSIT is more than 98%. The average package offered is around 4.5 LPA while the highest package was 30 LPA. Recruiters like Infosys, Accenture, HCL, OLA, HP enterprise, IBM, Amazon, Bosch, Phone Pay, and Brad soft visited for campus placements in the year 2019. The department has a techno-cultural student club named AIKYA which encourages students to explore their technical and cultural abilities. The department also organizes a techno-cultural fest where coding, debugging, design contest, technical quiz, etc. are held.
Bangalore institute of technology has excellent infrastructure for the CSE program. There are 6 different laboratories available for CSE students such as Data structure and Algorithm lab, Database and networking Lab, Web technology lab, and others. The total course fee for B.E in CSE at Bangalore institute of technology is 2.38 lakhs. The department has a highly-qualified and dedicated team of faculties. The placement rate for CSE is 95% and the average package is 6.5 Lakhs. Big recruiters like Adobe, Accenture, Amazon, JK techno soft, Oracle, LG soft, TCS, Accolite, Dell, Infosys, ZS associates, Cisco, Linked-in, Bosch visit campus to recruit CSE students.
Both the colleges, Sir MVIT and BIT, are part of VTU and are well known for Engineering courses and MBA. They offer almost every undergraduate course in engineering including:
Location: Sir MVIT is situated on the outskirts of the Bengaluru city near the airport. This gives a good environment for studies and students remain away from the city’s noisy & hectic crowd and unwanted distractions. There are hotels available for students near the institute to enjoy quality food at a good price. Decathlon and other showrooms are also situated near the campus. While talking about BIT which situated in the heart of Bengaluru city. Markets, Restaurants, pubs, and all other facilities are easily available for a student of BIT. Mobility for students is very easy as National College metro station and KR Market metro station are within walking distance from the college.
Campus: SMVIT has a huge 133 Acres campus. It is said that SMVIT has the biggest campus among all colleges in Bengaluru. Unlike BIT which has the main building and all classrooms and labs in it, SMVIT has different buildings for each department. The hostels in SMVIT are big and spacious but students are not allotted single rooms here. The hostel has a gym, Badminton court, Table Tennis, Chess and Carrom facilities available. Whereas BIT has a boys hostel on campus but the girls’ hostel is nearly 10Kms away in JP Nagar.
Fee Structure: The annual fee for B.E. and M.Tech course in Sir MVIT costs about Rs.78,000 and for the MBA program, it is around Rs. 68,500. In BIT, the total fee for B.E. costs about Rs.5 lakhs and the annual fee for M.Tech is around Rs.67,500. The complete MBA program in BIT costs about Rs.7.5 lakhs. So, clearly SMVIT has a lower fee as compared to BIT.
Placements: Every year many top IT companies and core companies including some mass recruiters visit Sir MVIT and BIT campus. Most of the MVIT students get placed in IT companies irrespective of their branches while in BIT, students get placed in IT as well as in few core companies. In 2019, 474 out of 544 students of Sir MVIT got placed and a total of 573 offers was issued. The average placement was 88% in 2019. The institute claims to have an average of 94% placement record of the last five years. Whereas talking about BIT, in 2019, 479 out of 976 students got placed and a total of 662 offers were issued. The institute had an average 70% placement. The average package for a BIT student is around 6.5 LPA.
Looking at the placement records and all other factors, Sir MVIT gets an upper hand over BIT. It is suggested to go for Sir MVIT over BIT if a student is interested in getting an IT job but not getting a good branch.
Bangalore Institute of Technology is one of the private colleges affiliated to VTU (Visvesvaraya Technological University). It offers various undergraduate engineering courses such as:
It also offers many post-graduate courses in MBA and M. Tech. A student after graduating will get a degree of VTU stating the college name.
Location: The Institute is located in the middle of the city which gives a plus point to students studying here. Nearest metro stations are National College metro station and KR Market metro station. They are within walking distance or you can even use bus service. There are malls, pubs, markets very near to the college. You can enjoy it there whenever you get bored with your studies.
Placements: The placements are really good for BIT students. More than 100 top-notch companies visit the campus every year. Some big names including Mercedes Benz, L&T Constructions, BEL, Walmart, Oracle, Nokia, Google, Samsung, Cisco and mass recruiters such as Infosys, Wipro, TCS picks students every year. According to the college’s department of training and placement, nearly 70% of the eligible students get placed in their dream companies with attractive packages. The average package offered is 6.5 LPA and the highest package offered is 13.5 LPA.
According to 2019 statistics, out of 976 students, 479 got placed whereas a total of 662 offers were given. And in 2020, 408 students got placed out of 982, and a total of 524 offers was there.
Hostel and Infrastructure: The Institute has the main building with all classrooms and labs in it. The boy’s hostel is inside the campus but the girls hostel is about 10 Km away in JP Nagar. Students mostly rely on PGs. Faculty is average and helpful in internal assessments. Most of the time students rely on their own as they are in college now. The ISE department faculty is decent and experienced.
When compared to other colleges in Karnataka, BIT placements are much better. One of my friends completed his BE in Civil Engineering (2016) and got placed in Brigade.
Placements:
The placement statistics for Civil Engineering in recent years at BIT are as follows.
Average CTC |
6.5 LPA |
Median CTC |
4 LPA |
The trend is in the favour of Civil Engineers and there's a huge demand for CE in the industry, which was not so a decade ago. So, if you are genuinely interested in Civil then you should go for it.
