Candidate applying for admission in this program should have a M.B.B.S. Degree or equivalent from recognized board.

Course Details

St. John’s Medical College offers MD and MS degree program with 22 specializations. The institute additionally offers M.Sc. programs in the fields of MLT Biochemistry, MLT Hematology & Transfusion Medicine and MLT Microbiology & Immunology. 

The basic eligibility criteria for admission to the MD and MS programs is an MBBS degree. For admission to M.Sc. programs, candidates must have a B.Sc. degree in Medical Lab Technology with 50% marks. MD and MS candidates are selected on the basis of PGET marks. M.Sc. candidates must qualify the St. John’s Entrance Exam.

MD/MS candidates can apply through KEA counseling after qualifying Karnataka PGET. Candidates aspiring for admission to the M.Sc. programs can contact the institute office for admission purposes. M.Sc. candidates must attend the institute level counseling if qualified in the St. John’s Entrance Exam.

MD/MS candidates should have satisfactorily completed the Rotating Compulsory Internship of one year before the starting of the courses, and registered with the Indian Medical Council.

St. John’s Medical College? PG Selection Process

M.D/M.SCandidates must qualify PG- NEET exam to be considered eligible for admission to the M.D/M.S courses. Qualified candidates must appear for the Common Counselling round conducted by the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA).

The following documents must be submitted at the time of admission:

  • M.B.B.S. Degree or Provisional Pass Certificate. 
  • Statements of marks of all M.B.B.S. Examinations 
  • Caste Certificate (if SC/ST /OBC)
  • Compulsory Rotating Internship Certificate
  • State Medical Council Registration Certificate
  • Character Certificate 
  • Photocopies of certificates showing distinctions, scholarships, honors, medals at MBBS
  • Post-graduate diploma certificate, if any
  • Transfer certificates 
  • Migration certificate
  • Eligibility certificate 

M.Sc. MLT/MHACandidates passing B.Sc. MLT through correspondence shall not be eligible.

Admission will be done on the basis of an entrance test.

Selection Process

DM/M.Ch. Program

Admissions for DM/M.Ch. courses will be done, based on central counseling conducted by the National Board of Examination. Specific details based on the Government directive at the time of admission will be notified on the SJMC website.

Documents to be submitted at the time of admission:

  • M.B.B.S. Degree and Post-graduate degree certificates
  • Statements of marks of all M.B.B.S. and MD/MS Examinations
  • Caste Certificate (if SC/ST/OBC) from the relevant authority
  • State Medical Council Registration Certificate
  • Conduct Certificate 
  • Copies of certificates showing distinctions, scholarships, and honors
  • NEET super specialty Results
  • Transfer certificates (Students from colleges other than St. John’s Medical College)
  • Migration certificate
  • Eligibility certificate 

DNB Program

Admission to the DNB courses is ONLY through the Entrance Examination and centralized counseling conducted by NBE.

At the PG level, the institute also offers a two-year-long Diploma course in various specializations such as:

  • Diploma in Anaesthesiology (DA)
  • Diploma in Child Health (DCH)
  • Diploma in Clinical Pathology (DCP)
  • Dip. in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (DGO)
  • Diploma in Otorhinolaryngology (DLO)
  • Dip. in Medical Radio-diagnosis (DMRD)

To be eligible for the same, the candidates must be PG-NEET qualified.
