Ques
In what order would you rank MAMC, KGMU, AFMC. IMS BHU, CMC and Grant Medical College?

● Top Answer By Kishalay Gupta, on 25 Nov 21

Ans
According to the reviews online by the students of these colleges, here’s what the ranking seems to be like: KGMU has mostly been ranked among the top 5 institutions in India. It usually maintained its place in rank 2 or 3. This institution is 125 years old with proper educational experience. AFMC is a very disciplined institution with strict rules and codes of conduct, as it has direct affiliation with Armed forces. Though being well reputed, in academics and exposure it might lag behind. MAMC, Grants Medical College (GMC) and IMS BHU are at a similar level. Some students claim MAMC to be slightly better than AFMC.  GMC is very popular in and around Maharashtra. IMS-BHU is autonomous; it has the reputation of BHU tagged along which is beneficial. CMC is amongst the oldest medical colleges, but their severe lack of proper facilities in this college and political disturbances have tarnished its reputation. Therefore it is suggested you either go for KGMU or MAMC, as they will provide you with the required exposure and opportunities.

How is life at Grant medical college?

● Top Answer By Rita Ayer, on 25 Nov 21

Ans
One of my friends studied at Grant Medical College Mumbai. According to him, the events that take place here are much better than any other medical college. The introductory sessions held here are an opportunity to learn new things.  The hostel is exciting with an abundance of social activities.  There is an opportunity to explore many things.  If you are interested in spirituality, there is ISKCON nearby to visit. If you want to engage with technology and entrepreneurship you have MICE labs. This is an institution free from peer pressure. You will learn new things and enhance your skills. The hospital is very clean and the staff are cooperative. The staff quarters are spacious and well maintained. Your college life will be exciting at Grant Medical College. You will get to learn and grow both academically and holistically. It is advised that you make the most of it.

Ques
Which college should I take, Seth GS or Grant medical college?

● Top Answer By Tirtha Ray, on 25 Nov 21

Ans
This majorly depends on the student’s choice and what they will prefer. Seth GS and Grant Medical College (GMC) are both good institutions. Here’s mentioning some facts analyzing which you can make your decision. GMC has the largest campus in Maharashtra, also it is one of the oldest colleges in India. They offer both boys and girls hostels. They also have separate common rooms. The hostels are spacious and offer both single and double occupancy rooms. Unlike other medical colleges, many cultural events, festivals, extracurricular activities, etc. take place here quite frequently. Seth GS is comparatively stricter and prefers discipline and punctuality. Most of Maharashtra’s top ranking students usually go there. Students outside Maharashtra tend to prefer GMC. As mentioned by most of the students that GMC has better academics, facilities and co-curricular activities, it is suggested that you go for GMC rather than Seth GS.

Ques
Which is better: Grant Medical College or King George's Medical University or Seth GS Medical College?

● Top Answer By Tisha Sawant, on 25 Nov 21

Ans
This choice majorly depends on the student and his preferences.  Seth GS: If you prefer studying a lot probably most of the time then opt for Seth GS.  They have a highly qualified staff and caters to KEM Hospital.  You will be studying amongst some of the brightest minds.  The hostel and accomodation facilities are the only problem, due to its location. GMC: If you want to enjoy your college life, Grant Medical College (GMC) will be good for you.  It has the largest campus in Maharashtra.  GMC conducts the best cultural fests and events, be it sports, art or academics. This provides great exposure.  The staff here is also highly qualified just like KEM.  Students here tend to lean towards the extracurricular activities more than the studies.  The campus has 2 boys hostels and 1 girls hostel enough to provide lodging for all the students who apply.  The hostel provides facilities like hot water, pure drinking water, beds, tables, etc.  Most people will claim that KEM is better for your career. But at the end of the day you also need some extracurricular activities to engage in and avoid the monotony.

Ques
Which is the better MBBS college of Mumbai - TNMC, LTMC, Grant Medical College or RN Cooper?

● Top Answer By Aman Jain, on 25 Nov 21

Ans
According to the reviews online, if academics are concerned LTMC is the best among all the others mentioned. There is no doubt that academically LTMC is superior to the others. They also have many cultural fests held over the years which are much more vibrant and provide immense exposure to the students. In LTMMC the internships offered to the students are very demanding.  The hospital is crowded most of the time.  They have a huge patient load, which benefits some students but becomes tiring for others.  If you put all your focus and hard work in these internships, you will definitely miss out on studying. Even so, it is preferred by most students as you will get to learn directly from the doctor handling the cases. The internship builds you as an individual making you adapt in different situations. The best thing about the internship is that you get to do a lot of BM biopsies, lumbar punctures, central line insertions , forceps-suction, cup deliveries, sebaceous cyst and lipoma excisions etc. Most of the students feel that the internships here are better in terms of clinical practice. It gives you enough knowledge and hands-on experience.

Ques
Does ragging exist in Grant Medical College Mumbai?

● Top Answer By Tamalika Menon, on 25 Nov 21

Ans
Yes. Ragging was prevalent in Grant Medical College (GMC) during 2006. This declined gradually after some years in the premises of the hostels.  This used to happen mostly in the boys' hostels and the raging involved from staying up all night, missing lectures, completing the assignments of the seniors, etc. Mainly students in the hostels were prone to ragging. Nowadays due to stricter rules and regulations, this has decreased. Once 3-4 students were suspended when found responsible. It is suggested that you talk to your HoD, your warden and your parents, as they will be able to guide you to take the right step after that. Ragging is a problem which should be brought under control by strict laws and regulations. Severe punishment should also be applied to reduce such occurrences taking place in the college premises.

Ques
How are the hostel facilities at Grant Medical College, Mumbai?

● Top Answer By Anjum Fakih on 05 Nov 22

Ans
If you live outside of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, you will certainly be assigned a hostel room from the start. If you live in MMR, you may have to wait up to a year, depending on your address. In the first year, rooms are assigned on a twin or triple-sharing basis. After the first year, you can choose between a single room and a double sharing room. GMC Mumbai hostels are beautiful, with blushing greenery all around that will take your breath away and then resuscitate you. There are two hostels for MBBS undergrads. The hostel administration provides iron beds, tables, and chairs. In addition, there is a medium-sized ground directly in front of the main entrance. The staff cleans the two large common washrooms on each floor two to three times a week.

Ques
Which is better: IMS BHU or Grant Medical College?

● Top Answer By Sebanti Samaddar, on 25 Nov 21

Ans
Both IMS BHU and Grant Medical College (GMC) are among the best medical colleges of India. As one of my friends studied in IMS BHU, I am familiar with the institute. It is a lot better than GMC, as it is a central university which receives a lot of funds. This goes to the development of the institution. They have well constructed laboratories with all the necessary updated facilities. Their hostels are spacious.  The crowd is very welcoming and accepting. They have lower fees, no bond or reimbursement and also offer internal postgraduate seats. Students here get the proper opportunity to do their research work. GMC is overrated. It has average infrastructure. The most important thing that diminished its popularity is the internal politics and compulsory bond by Maharashtra government. Though they have a good location, IMS BHU tops its academics and the opportunities provided to their students.
