Nizam College is an autonomous institute located in Basheerbagh in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh was established in 1887. It was initially affiliated to the University of Madras and later became a constituent college of Osmania University. In 2012, the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) certified it as 'A' grade institution

Nizam College offers both undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the Faculties of Arts, Social Sciences, Commerce and Sciences in addition to professional courses such as MBA, MCA, M.Sc.(IS) and BCA.

The intake for UG Arts, Science, Management, and Computer Applications is 30 students per subject. Commerce has an intake of 45 students per course. Selection for UG courses is based on merit in the qualifying examination and for PG courses various entrance exams like OUCET, TS ICET are considered.

All candidates pursuing degree courses in Nizam College are eligible to enroll in the Certificate and Diploma courses introduced under UGC (COP) add-on scheme by the college. Applicants may visit the institute campus and collect the application form and prospectus to apply.   • Admission in MCA & MBA is gen on the basis of TS ICET exam
  • Telangana State Integrated Common Entrance Test) is for admission into M.B.A. and M.C.A. courses of all the Universities in Telangana State and their affiliated colleges for the academic year 2021-22. This test is being conducted by Kakatiya University, Warangal on behalf of Telangana State Council of Higher Education, Hyderabad

How to Apply at Nizam College?

Offline Process-

Nizam College accepts applications from eligible candidates through offline mode for both UG and PG courses. The process of application in details is as follows:

  • The application form and prospectus can be purchased from the institute’s admission office within the dates stipulated for the purpose. 
  • After filling the application form, candidates must submit the same in person or by post to reach the institute before the last date to apply. Forms reaching beyond the deadline won’t be considered for admission.
  • The merit list and dates for counseling and admission will be published on the institute website. 
  • The prescribed admission fee for the chosen courses must be paid in cash on the spot during counseling. No other mode of payment is accepted by the institute.

Nizam College Scholarship Schemes

  • The students whose parents have less than the salary of 1 Lakh per year are instructed to apply for the scholarship, reimbursement of tuition fee by the Social Welfare/Tribal Welfare/Backward Classes & Minority Welfare Department through “ONLINE” on the website http://epasswebsite.cgg.gov.in and fill up the relevant columns through “ONLINE” submission only.
  • The printed copy of the “online” scholarship form along with the enclosures has to be submitted in the Scholarship Section of the College without fail.

Ques. What is the registration fee for DOST?

Ans. The candidate needs to pay Rs. 200/- as registration fee online. Late fee will be Rs 400/-For late registration dates kindly visit DOST official website at https://dost.cgg.gov.in and refer to section Admission Schedule, DOST. Moreover, this fee is not refundable

Ques. What are the prerequisites to register in DOST?

Ans. The candidate must seed his/her mobile number with Aadhaar, update name, gender, and date of birth as per SSC/Intermediate certificate in Aadhaar in advance.

Ques. What about the placements at Nizam College?

Ans. The students who wish to appear for the campus placements must register themselves to the Placement and Training Cell. The cell coordinates and organizes several campus recruitment drives to extend employment opportunities to students. The Placement Cell in collaboration with Pragathi Youth Development Association conducts Skill Development programmes to help students nurture and enhance the necessary industry-related skills to match the professional environment.

Ques. What is OUCET's pattern?

Ans. The CPGET (OUCET) 2020 entrance exam in all subjects except MPEd will consist of 100 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) for 100 marks. MPEd will be out of 75 marks as the remaining 25 will be judged on the candidates’ sports achievement over the last three years. The marks will be given by the department of the Osmania University and the marks provided will be final.

Remarks:

In my college, there is no entrance exam. It is based on the intermediate marks and we must have a good score. The process is very slow because of the lack of teachers and other required devices. And the help desk won't be given proper information.

Remarks:

Nizam College is one of the best colleges. This college offers many courses when it comes to the admission process based on the entrance test, to get admission candidate must score 60% marks and a good score in intermediate.

Remarks:

The eligibility at Nizam college is 90 percent. First, you have to apply to dost then after they give specific dates in those dates you have to apply for phases. There are 3 phases and one special phase which is for changing the course as you want. The application fee is 500, and application dates are around May, and June months. A reserved caste like sc, st having 250 for dost application. The cut-off marks were 900 above which you got in inter groups.

Nizam College is a very popular and reputed college to pursue B.Sc courses and the admission process of this college starts in around June and July.  The applications are available at the campus academic center or at the IOB Basheerbagh branch and you can ask them to provide you a form for B.Sc. After filling in all the details asked in the form, you will have to submit the form at the campus academic center.  There is a special quota available for students who are physically handicapped or are children of Ex-army. Students who are involved in sports, NCC, or any kind of co-curricular activities are also eligible to take advantage of the special quota, but you will have to provide all the valid documents required to take advantage of the special quota.  Your admission to this college will be based on marks in your 12th standard, the total number of students applying for this course, and if you have applied through any special quota.

Nizam College is a very reputed college and the marks required to get a seat in this college is generally very high. But if you have scored 97% then you have a very good chance of getting admission even if you are a non-local candidate.  But for the local candidates, there are only 15% of the seats available and even foreign students are applying to this college. The competition from foreign students would be more as they are likely to pay 10-20 times higher fees if they get a seat.  Apart from academics, you will get the chance to grow in extracurricular aspects including sports, NCC, NGO, and many more.

It is suggested to go to Nizam College. Osmania University is a bit stricter, almost like a school. The timings are fixed from 9 to 5. You will have no time for other extra-curricular activities. In Nizam College, the timing is usually from 9/10 am to 1 pm. This gives you enough time for other activities. It offers a good combination of subjects for the courses, especially for BA.  The syllabus at Nizam College is upgraded every year. This allows you to go through a wide range of books which enhances your all-around development.

Nizam College is famous for its undergraduate courses. Except for one or two, it has the best lectures for its undergraduate programs. There are many student organizations in the college. It depends on you whether you want to join any such organization or not. You will have ample time for other activities. The department libraries are good and the college has satisfactory laboratories and equipment. Nizam has everything within itself but if you lookout for a movie kind of environment then you will not find it here.

Can we study in Nizam College by staying at the OU campus?

Nizam College officially does not provide any accommodation for the students on the OU campus. But from the second year onwards, hostel facilities are available for only boys nearby the campus. For girls, there is no such facility available as of now.  Officially Osmania University doesn't allow students of other colleges and universities to stay inside their campus hostels. But you can stay at their hostels if you know a student staying in an OU hostel. This is the only way possible to stay in an OU hostel if you are from a different college. But if you get caught staying in OU hostel illegally, then you will be punished by the OU hostel officials.  So it will be better to stay in any department hostels like SC, ST, BC hostel and then after a year, you will be able to stay in a hostel of Nizam College which will be around 500 meters away from the campus.

Management seats are not provided for BCA students in Nizam College. It is suggested that you go to college and get all the required details.  If you have a sports background, there is a chance to secure a seat. You have to fill in all of your educational details (10th, 12th, etc.) and submit them. They take the top 30-35 candidates who received the highest marks in Intermediate. This could also vary. Mostly securing a seat is conducted on a merit basis.

It entirely depends on your interest in the course. If you have a certain career goal in mind and want to achieve it by going through BA Psychology, you should opt for it. One of my friends studied at Nizam College. According to him, psychology was very popular here. They had students from all over the world. They had a diverse student crowd. According to academics, it is one of the best.  Also, you should keep in mind that attending regular classes and paying attention to whatever is being taught there is crucial. This is because the more you familiarize yourself with the subject, understanding it becomes easier. The fee structure depends on the combination of subjects you get with psychology, courses with lab practicals cost more than regular ones. Since it is a government institution, fees will be comparatively less. BA in Psychology may cost you INR 13,800 for 3 years.
