National Institute of Speech and Hearing (NISH) is an autonomous institution located in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, working relentlessly for the education and rehabilitation of individuals suffering from speech-language and hearing impairments. It is a self financed institution which is established in 1997 by the Kerala State Social Welfare Department. It is affiliated to the University of Kerala. It has accreditation from the Rehabilitation Council of India as an Excellent Institution and by NAAC with A Grade.
National Institute of Speech and Hearing offers 7 courses in 5 streams. Bachelor’s degree is offered in Fine Arts, Audiology and Speech Language Pathology, Commerce, Computer Science. Two undergraduate Diploma degrees are also offered in Indian Sign Language and Early Childhood Special Education (Deaf). The institute also provides a specialized Master of Science degree in Audiology and Speech Language Pathology.
Admission procedures for Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes are conducted through online application. Admission to any course is based on Merit or Marks. There are seats reserved for SC/ST candidates in all the courses as per the University norms.

Selection Criteria
- Students are required to have a minimum eligibility of 10+2 degree to apply for the courses offered by the institute.
- Admission at National Institute of Speech and Hearing are both Merit and Marks based.
- FOR BA , BCOM - Candidate must obtain good marks in the Aptitude test held by the institute
- For DESCE - Admission to the course will be made on the basis of the results of All India Online Aptitude Test by RCI.
- For BSC - Admission is made on the basis of the marks obtained in the Degree Admission Competency Examination(DACE) conducted by the institute.
How to apply?
- The admission process for various courses can be done online. Candidates have to apply on the official college website and fill up the application form.
- In the online application form, students should fill up with all the information correctly, and submit the forms before the deadline.
- Payment for the application form can be done through credit card/debit card/Internet Banking or by Bank Challan.
- Candidates should remember the application number and challan number for future log in.
- After this a Registration ID and password will be given for uploading all the academic data.
- Then candidates have to do the final confirmation and then print the application.
- An acknowledgement slip will come out after this and candidates need to carry these documents in times of admission.
