Course Curriculum Overview:

I am in the ECE discipline so I will tell you about that. I joined this course, particularly because of my interest in microelectronics and analogue systems. Faculty to student ratio is 1:15. All faculties here at iiitkota are highly qualified and had done their doctorate from various IITs and foreign universities. Each year is having two semesters and for each semester you have midterm and end-term exams. If you study well throughout the semester then you can easily score good grades. But studying one night before the exam always leads you towards low-grade points.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course Curriculum is very apt with the current syllabus. Outdated courses have been excluded and the subjects being asked in entrance exams like GATE have been included. I choose this course because it guarantees a better placement than other courses and also due to my interest in tech. There are near about 200 students in a year having CSE and ECE two branches only and 20 faculties in total. Teachers are very well qualified in their respective fields having research papers published in reputed journals. The semester is completed within 5 months terms held at the gap of 2 months in a week. If someone attends classes regularly, he can easily pass the exams.

I choose computer science because the future is going with the computer and digitalize. all the faculty members are well educated al least they are PHD.because they all are research-oriented so they are not good at teaching but they help you in making good projects and in the research field. The best part of my college is there is no load of exams and the curriculum is too easy in this college and you will explore more extra things in your college.

The course curriculum is pretty good and new as compared to other old colleges which are following very old curriculum and you don't have to study useless subjects which are of no use to you. I choose Computer Science because I am pretty interested in technology. The faculty: student ratio is good too. Faculty is OK I would say and everyone is different in teaching methods. Term exams are twice in a semester mid-term and end-term. It is easy to pass exams even if you study a week before.

Both branches have good faculty members and the placement record is fair enough for any aspirant. electronics and communications engineering are that branch is not for students who want to explore computer science. The main reason is that you will have to cover electronics as well because placement in computer science is very good whereas in ECE is not considerable.

Indian Institute of Information Technology - [IIIT-K]: 27 answered questions

Ques
How good are IIIT Kota and IIIT Jabalpur in terms of placement and education?

● Top Answer By Mehak Ghosal on 17 Mar 21

Ans
IIIT Kota is very new and is yet to make a mark with respect to IIIT Jabalpur. Whereas, with IIIT-Jabalpur the placements do keep varying. More or less, the placements are improving. Academics: IIIT Jabalpur has a very sound academic curriculum owing to the fact that IIT Kanpur was its mentor. In IIIT Kota the curriculum is good but it hardly matters when you have teachers with hardly any knowledge. The interdisciplinary curriculum in IIIT Jabalpur makes the academic bit steadfast with the add-on of designing structure. Moreover, academic projects are floated in almost every important course. Hence, adding a skill set to the students. So, to put it together, the academics are nice, but placements can be improved. Being from IIIT gives you a special charm. Also, being new IIITs, they will take some time to establish themselves and the education factor is quite decent when compared to tier-2 private engineering colleges. But, they still have a long way to go reach the bar set by NITs or IITs. The top bracket companies pay really well, but these new IIITs won't be the first choice for these companies. The mid-range paying companies will flock to these new IIITs; so, you will get a decent package. So overall, it is better to have something than nothing.

Ques
Is IIIT Kota Rajasthan good?

● Top Answer By Aakash Ray on 17 Mar 21

Ans
When talking about IIIT-Kota it has its own pros and cons. Some might like it because of its good CSE placements and brand tag of IIIT or some would like it because of its curriculum. When we talk about the campus of IIIT-Kota it is not up to the mark and some would not feel like belonging there and regret the decision of opting one. Let’s take a look on pros and cons of IIIT-Kota: PROS: Syllabus: The syllabus is properly structured with relevant subjects included. It can be easily distinguished between syllabus from IITs AND NITs. The final year syllabus again is light and is apt. You get almost enough time to work and focus upon other things like research, projects, entrance exams and placements.  Batch Strength: The teacher to student ratio is good and the interaction between the teacher and students is high. The teacher knows each student personally and knows about their strengths and weaknesses. Senior-Junior Interaction: The level of comfort between the batches is worth seeing. The interaction is quite informal and since it is a college of around 200 people, everybody knows everybody. Placements and Internships: Categories IIIT Kota Course Fee 8.36 lakh Placement Percentage 60% Highest CTC 27 LPA Average CTC 8.83 LPA Lowest CTC 5.5 LPA Recruiting Companies Amazon, Wooqer, Cvent, Accolite, EXL Financial Services, Affine Analytics, Droom, Cubastion, TechRacers, ShopClues, Intellect Design, etc. CONS: Sports and Gym Facilities: IIIT-Kota doesn’t have good sports facilities nor do they have good gyms. Gyming facility is no longer available to IIIT Kota students due to some internal problems. Infrastructure: The Wi-Fi facility is available in the College campus but not in the hostel. The food served is not that good like most of the government college messes. Medical facilities are good, and we get free of cost treatment as medical fees are included in our semester fees. Lastly, teachers are helpful but the teaching quality is not good. The curriculum of the college is good, and placements are available for both branches. IIIT-Kota doesn’t conduct its own college fest. It’s boring and way too sloppy in this part. Other things except for hostel facilities are all good.

Ques
How is life in IIIT Kota?

● Top Answer By Hema Singh on 16 Apr 21

Ans
IIIT Kota is a recent campus. The institute offers B.Tech only in two specializations: Computer Science Engineering (CSE) and Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE).  The below-mentioned points give a wholesome picture of life in IIIT Kota. Education: The institute is similar to any other average institute. A few core teachers are decent who have been teaching for years. But most of them are young and inexperienced. Only 10% of the taught topics are applicable in real jobs and the rest 90% are outdated. The positive side of the curriculum is that the students are liberal to change their elective subjects by intimating the course coordinator. Facilities: The fee for B.Tech is 9.24 Lakhs. The fee is in competition with any other private institute. It is beyond any government institute. Even the facilities are not parallel to the fee charged by the institute. The classrooms and labs are considerate. There is a lack of sports opportunities. The hostel facility especially for boys is pathetic. The internet is slow, mobile networks are poor, mess food is tasteless, and bathrooms are untidy. Some students prefer shifting to flats because of the same. There is no ragging and the seniors are helpful and approachable. Placement & Internship: If you are aiming for the top companies in the market then the institute is not a perfect fit for you. The institute struggles to call companies to campus. So, there is no stability in terms of placement here. Even for the internships, only a few decent companies visit the campus. The highest stipend was offered at INR 1 Lakh. The placement figures are: Minimum Package INR 3.5 LPA Highest Package INR 30 LPA Branch with Maximum Placed Students CSE Considering the above information, one has to decide for oneself if the college is perfect for him or not.

How were the placements at IIIT KOTA this year? What are the placement statistics?

● Top Answer By Shubham Kaur on 26 Mar 21

Ans
The first batch of IIT Kota graduated in 2017 and there were very few students, but still, placements were decent. It actually surprised everyone. One of my friends was a part of the first batch.  Placement Statistics 2017:  The institute only had CSE at first. Almost 60% of students got placed and the highest CTC was 26.5 lakhs/year. In the same year, Amazon selected 6 students from MNIT for internships. Out of those 6 students, 3 were IIITians.  Placements Statistics of 2020-21: Total no. Of companies 16 Highest salary package 30 lakhs Average salary package 12 lakhs Top recruiters Amazon, Cap Gemini, TCS Hope the statistics given above gave you an idea about the placement scenario at IIIT Kota.

Ques
I am confused between IIIT Kota/Guwahati CS and NIT Trichy/Warangal/Surathkal Metallurgy. IIIT Kota is running at MNIT Jaipur campus and NIT Trichy/Surathkal/Warangal is old and has good exposure

● Top Answer By Ajay Mishra on 17 Mar 21

Ans
You must follow your passion and go for the stream over college. After all, your choice will either make or break your future depending on how you tackle the circumstances. Choose IIIT Guwahati if you want CSE. If you choose metallurgy go for NIT Warangal. If you don’t know, like IIIT Kota has MNIT Jaipur, IIIT Guwahati has IIT Guwahati as its mentor institute. The infrastructure, faculty, and placement opportunities are far better there due to the presence of already established IIIT G. This makes a lot of difference and gives an extra helping hand to IIIT-Guwahati. Being a new institute, IIIT G will not limit your options and you will also have an ample amount of opportunities coming in your way. IIITG already has great affiliations with top industry groups and even has an IT park coming up next to it. Let’s have a brief perspective and a quick overview of all: Take a quick check on the subjects you would be studying for the next 4 years and ask yourself does it really excites you to go further with the field. If you are stuck in between metallurgy or computer science; ask yourself what you really want and how it will help you in further life. Does it actually inspire you to work on projects related to your field of study? Trust me, at the end of the day you would not like to end up taking the wrong stream. Also, I believe that all the top colleges in the country have almost the same level of standards of teaching, placements, opportunities for further education. In short, it opens lots of doors for you in the future. The reason which sets these colleges apart from others is how much they allow their students to get enough exposure to culture for the next 4 years and also to work under and with the guidance of the brightest minds in the country. You learn a lot more from your friends in college than your professors, irrespective of IITs or NITs.

Ques
Which college should I choose between IIIT Kota (CSE) and LNMIIT (CSE)?

● Top Answer By Samukta Shokeen on 26 Mar 21

Ans
My brother is from LNMIIT so I can tell you why LNMIIT is a better choice. Ranking and Accreditation: LNMIIT holds 2nd rank among the best IT colleges in Jaipur and 3rd best private college in Rajasthan. LNMIIT is approved by AICTE and has also been accredited by NAAC with a grade 'A'. Admission: It is a “Non-Profit” Institute and admissions here are based on JEE (Mains). There is no reservation policy. Every student is treated equally based on their performance. Facilities: Facilities like infrastructure, hostel, mess are much better than IIT Kota. Placements: The Highest package offered in IIIT Kota is of about 27 lakhs/year whereas in LNMIIT it is 36 lakhs and the average salary package offered is around 10.48 lakhs and still increasing. Clubs and Extra-curricular: There are various clubs and extracurricular activities present on campus. All the clubs are actively involved in various kinds of sports, technical and cultural activities. Fest: Every year LNMIIT organizes one of the biggest annual Techno-cultural fests, i.e. “Vivacity”. Coding Culture: The coding culture of LNMIIT is really amazing, even better than IIIT Kota. Every month, different types of coding events on CodeChef, Hacker earth are organized by the coding club of LNMIIT. Alumni Network: IIIT Kota is a recent IIIT and yet to establish a strong alumni database. Whereas, LNMIIT has a very strong Alumni base, including some notable personalities like Hemant Purohit (Assistant Professor at Information Sciences and Technology at George Mason University, Washington DC), Sanjay Goyal (Senior Engineer at InterDigital Labs, Tandon School of Engineering at Brooklyn, USA), Radhika Loomba (Research Scientist at Intel Labs Europe) and so on. These are some of the perks of attending LNMIIT. Now, you can compare the institute with IIIT Kota and decide.

Ques
How is IIIT Kota for CSE?

● Top Answer By Vidhi Sengupta on 07 Apr 21

Ans
The most important thing in engineering is your knowledge and skills. Doing well in academics does not ensure good placements. There have been many pieces of evidence where toppers could not fetch placement. IIIT Kota is good in terms of placement. It is a national institute and gives you the tag of IIIT. But, when it comes to understanding between faculties and students, it has a way to go. This makes the environment not likable. A friend of mine attended the institute and didn’t quite like the environment there.  Apart from this IIIT Kota is quite good for CSE, you will get to experience many things there. There are many hackathons, coding events, sports events in which you can take part. There are many timely workshops organized by Technical Club, Google DSC, and Microsoft Student Partner. FlairFiesta is the annual cultural-techno fest of the institute.  So, overall IIIT Kota is a decent option for CSE.

Ques
Which is better for CSE or ECE: IIIT, Kottayam, IIIT, Kota, or IIIT, Sri City?

● Top Answer By Trisha Guha on 09 Sept 22

Ans
Among these, IIIT Sri City is better for CSE or ECE. The environment on campus is ideal for learning and exploring. The institute has a pretty active research interface. Each year the institute witnesses many international publications.  According to the highlights of IIIT Sri City placements of recent years, the average CTC for CSE is around INR 12 LPA, whereas, the average CTC for ECE is around INR 8.6 LPA. Popular tech companies such as Intel, Amazon, etc. take part in the placement drive.
