Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Imphal, Manipur is one of the preferred educational institutions in the north-eastern region of India in terms of engineering. The B.Tech degree offered by IIIT Imphal, Manipur is of a duration of 4 years divided into 8 semesters. The scores obtained in JEE Advanced are taken into consideration for admissions into IIIT Imphal, Manipur. The process of application is totally online.
The google form linked to the website needs to be filled with regard to application for B.Tech
The documents required have to be uploaded with the google application form
The fees are to be paid by the candidates depending on their category
The candidates belonging to General/EWS/OBC-NCL categories would pay to the institute INR 56,395
The candidates belonging to SC/ST/PwD categories would pay to the institute INR 96,395
In the first semester, the institute fees to be paid by candidates irrespective of their categories would be INR 1,29, 395

The forms for JEE are available online on the websites concerned which would lead to the downloading and printing of admit cards on filling up in the desired manner

IIIT Manipur JEE Main cutoff is the minimum rank to get admitted to the B.Tech program. The cutoff will be released by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA). IIIT Manipur Ph.D Admissions 2023

The Ph.D. courses are offered by IIIT Imphal, Manipur at the postgraduate level for the ones who have completed their M.Tech and related degree courses. Eligibility Criteria

Scores obtained in GATE/NET would be taken into consideration, in addition to entrance test and interview.
The candidates should have obtained a Master’s in Engineering/Technology degree with CPI (Cumulative Performance Index) of 6.5 or 60% in both Bachelor’s and Master’s, with regard to CSE and ECE specializations
If the candidate does not hold a Master's degree, at least CPI of 7.5 or 70% in Bachelor’s should be obtained, with regard to CSE and ECE specializations
For Mathematics specialization, the candidate should have obtained a Master's in Mathematics/Statistics with CPI of 6.5 or 60% in both Bachelor’s and Master’s
For Linguistics specialization, the candidate should have obtained a Master's in Linguistics/English with CPI of 6.5 or 60% in both Bachelor’s and Master’s
The categories of candidates would be Project Staff or Self Finance.
Project Staff category students would be eligible for assistantships/fellowships subject to the fulfillment of eligibility criteria as far as the norms of the respective agency designated for funding are concerned.

Selection Criteria

Based on scores obtained in GATE/NET, in addition to the entrance test and interview, admission would be granted on the basis of Project Staff or Self Finance category.
The marks obtained in the relevant Bachelor’s and Master’s degree should be as per the eligibility criteria.
The reservations would be as per the rules and regulations formulated at the institutional level.
The final merit list for admission would be prepared based on the category of students as mentioned in the eligibility criteria along with the scores obtained in GATE/NET, taking account of the specializations along with the aspect pertaining to reservations.

Ans. As far as the Project Staff category is concerned, students pursuing Ph.D. at IIIT Imphal, Manipur would be provided with funding in the form of either fellowships or assistantships. In this regard, such students would be regulated by the rules and regulations of the organisation or body or agency entrusted with funding for Ph.D. at IIIT Imphal, Manipur. Which is better Assam University or IIIT Manipur?

Both Assam University and IIIT Manipur are very reputed and popular institutes. Here is a brief overview of the two institutes.

Assam University:

Assam University is a central university and the technical department of this university has been functional since 2006. It is situated about 25 km away from Silchar and there are no problems traveling to the main campus.
The administration of this university is quite poor being a central university and there are many issues that are not being addressed yet.
There are very few hostels available and only 30-40% of the students get allotment in hostels.
There are internet facilities available but some services like fee payment are yet to be made online. And the results never get declared within 45 days of time.
The placements of this university are not very good as many companies don't prefer to visit the campus due to its location but there are many students who have received good offers from reputed companies through off-campus placement. The average CTC offered at campus placement is 1-2 LPA. And some students are also pursuing MS from top foreign universities.

IIIT Manipur:

IIIT Manipur is a newly built institute and it is situated in Heingang which is nearly 10 km away from the main city of Imphal. This institute now has 5 departments including physics and mathematics from pure sciences.
The first batch of this institute has passed out in 2019, so there are no such statistics about placements, but it has the Indian Institute tag so it will definitely attract some reputed companies to visit the campus especially from the IT sector. The average CTC offered is 5 LPA.
But in this college there have been some issues about ILP (Inner Line Permit), so keep this in mind before taking admission to this college.
IIIT Manipur has been very promising in sports and the students of this college have bagged various medals and awards in many intercollegiate competitions.

Hence, Assam University will be a good option in terms of academics and infrastructure but in terms of sports and placements, IIIT Manipur will be a better option as this institute will beat Assam University in terms of placements over the coming years. Scoring better marks is also easier at IIIT Manipal.

After IITs and NITs, students will always prefer IIITs as they offer neck to neck competition to other institutes. IIIT Dharwad being recently established offers stiff competition to other IIITs. All three colleges claim to have placed more than 70% of its students. Facilities like well-ventilated hostel rooms, cafeteria, digital library, and scholarships to different categories.

Admission:

For admission into IIIT colleges, students need to appear for the JEE(Joint Entrance Exam) mains exams and get a good rank for the same. Admission is purely merit-based.
IIIT Manipur has 50 seats for both ECE and CSE branches. IIIT Dharwad has 75 seats in the ECE branch. IIIT Kottayam has 192 seats in the CSE branch and 48 seats in the ECE branch.

Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology (SLIET) was deemed to be a university approved by AICTE and MHRD. It is an autonomous institute. It is ranked 137 for BTech by NIRF 2020.

IIIT Manipur was established under the Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD) approved by the Govt. of India. They have a faculty strength of 13 members and 107 student strength. Each department has 110 seats.

NIT Meghalaya ranks 61st for BTech by NIRF 2020. 104 students were placed in the 2018-2019 placement program conducted by the institute. It is accredited by AICTE.

IIIT Manipur is an autonomous university established under MHRD. It has a faculty strength of 13 members and a student population of 107.

NIT Manipur ranks 158th for BTech by NIRF 2020. It is recognized by UGC and AICTE. It has a 300+ acres campus area. It has a faculty strength of 70 members most of them being highly qualified and PhD holders.

Admission Details -

Applicants should have at least 75% in their 10+2 qualifying exams.
For MTech applicants 60% in BTech or BE is required.
