Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science is a reputed engineering institution, located in the state of Tamil Nadu. Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science offers both undergraduate as well as postgraduate courses in multiple specializations for each category viz. Engineering, Commerce, and Science. The institute also offers a total of fourteen different research courses divided among seven subjects, each in M.Phil and Ph.D.

For admission to the University, the candidates need to appear for an entrance test for a few courses like B.Tech, integrated B.Tech as well as B.Arch. For the B.Arch course, the candidate first needs to appear for another entrance examination called National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) which is a national level entrance test conducted by the National Institute of Advanced Studies in Architecture (NIASA). For other courses, admission is done on the basis of merit of marks obtained in the qualifying examination certain. The admission process to the university usually starts in the month of January.

Hindustan University UG Admission 2023

Hindustan University offers many different undergraduate courses in the field of Science, Commerce, Social Work, Business Administration, and Engineering. The University offers eight broad courses with several specializations in each of them. Admission to all the undergraduate courses is done based on the candidate’s 10+2 merit, leaving aside only the integrated B.Tech course.

Admission procedure to the B. Tech. M.T.M. (Master of Technology Management in Automobile Engineering) is done on the basis of the marks obtained in a candidate’s 10+2 level as well as through the HITSEEE entrance exam. The duration for all undergraduate courses is of three years whereas, for the integrated B.Tech course are covered in five and a half years.

The University also provides a three-year lateral B.Tech course for which a candidate needs to have done a diploma course in the specific specialization that they wish to pursue.

Hindustan University B.Tech & B.Arch Admission 2023

Hindustan University provides B.Tech courses in Engineering as well as CSE/IT. B. Tech in Engineering is offered in six different specializations whereas B.Tech (CSE/IT) comprises eight different specializations.

For admission to any B.Tech course, the candidate needs to appear for an Entrance exam called the HITSEEE. Final selection will be done on the basis of marks scored in the entrance as well as 10+2 merit. The B.Tech courses are of four years each. The University also offers a B.Arch course which comprises of five years. Candidates seeking admission to this course must qualify for the NATA and HITSEEE to fulfill the required eligibility.

In order to be eligible for appearing in the entrance exams, the candidate must have secured a minimum of 50% in their 10+2 with Mathematics as one of the subjects. Or, should have passed a 3-year diploma (10+3) with 50% aggregate marks including Mathematics as a subject or equivalent recognized by the Central/ State Government.

Hindustan University PG Admission 2023

The university offers postgraduate courses for six different courses namely, M.Tech, M.Arch, MA, MBA, M.Li.Sc, and MCA. All PG courses are of two years each. A total of around 73 different specializations are provided by the university.

Candidates seeking admission to any of these courses, need to have the required merit stated in the eligibility criteria below. M.Arch is the only course that continues for three years.

It also offers an integrated M.Tech course (Civil Engineering with Specialization in Construction Engineering and Management) which is for five years. Admission to this course is conducted through the HITSEEE entrance examination as well as 10+2 merit.

Hindustan University M.Phil And Ph.D. Admission 2023

Hindustan University provides three different types of research courses which include M.Phil, Ph.D., and M.S by research. A total of seven subjects are offered under the M.Phil course. In order to register for this course, a candidate needs to have at least 55% of marks in their postgraduate degree in the related subject.

Overall, Hindustan University is average at best.

The quality of education offered is not good. Most faculty members are fresh graduates and don’t have much experience.
The institute doesn’t have a good infrastructure. Although the institute claims to offer a good Aeronautical or Aerospace program, they don’t have good facilities or faculties to back up the claim. Besides a subsonic wind tunnel and four broken-down plans, the department offers zero facilities.
Hindusthan University fees are pretty steep. The B.Tech Aeronautical Engineering program costs around INR 14.39 Lakhs.
The institute doesn’t offer any internships or co-op opportunities to students. The placement opportunities offered aren’t worth the high course fee.

The college lacks basic amenities that are essential for the overall growth of the students.

Which university is better for aerospace engineering - SRM, Anna, or Madras Institutes of Technology, or Hindustan University?

Madras Institute of Technology is under Anna University. These two aren’t separate. If you want good job profiles with cushy salary packages, after completing your degree, MIT isn’t a good option. Not many core companies visit the campus drive for recruitment. Although placements in the non-core sector are good. MIT offers good academics and you can benefit from the institute if you are aiming to pursue higher studies. The course fee is nominal. The course costs around INR 1.58 lakhs.

SRM is a good option if infrastructure is your priority. Although the university fees are a little higher.

How is Hindustan University for aerospace engineering?

One of my friends studies at Hindustan University. So, I know a little bit about the institute.

Hindustan University is recognized as a great platform for Aerospace Engineering. But the institute owes its reputation to the students who go out of their way to excel in academics without much help from the institute.

According to my friend’s experience, the institute does not offer support of any kind, be it lab equipment, leniency in attendance, or time.

The institute charges high fines for low attendance.
It also has a dress code for the laboratory which is quite uncomfortable. According to authority, it is for the protection of the students. However, there are either computer-related laboratory works or lectures, so there is actually no need for uncomfortable uniforms.

One of my cousins is an alumnus at Hindustan University. Not many of his batchmates are working as Aerospace Engineers. Most of them were placed in IT companies through campus placements. The very few who are actually working in a field related to Aerospace Engineering made it there through their own efforts.
