Annamalai University B.Ed admission 2023 is open now. The last date to apply has been extended to June 30, 2023. Interested candidates can apply online on the official website – annamalaiuniversity.ac.in. The Bachelor of Education or B.Ed program under the Faculty of Education at Annamalai University is a two-year degree which is a preferred choice among teaching aspirants. The medium of instruction is English except for candidates who opt for Pedagogy Course-I as Tamil. The university offers a range of subjects like Physical Sciences, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, Economics, Commerce, among others as options of specialization in the B.Ed. degree.

B.Ed. Admission is based on academic merit in the qualifying examination.
Students holding a recognized graduation degree with a minimum 50% aggregate score are eligible to apply.
Specialization in Economics and Commerce requires qualifying a PG degree in a relevant field.
Applicants who have completed their graduation without studying Tamil or any other Indian Languages, have to qualify for the Tamil Language Test conducted by the TNPSC.

Annamalai University B.Ed Eligibility Criteria

Annamalai University elaborates on several eligibility conditions for B.Ed. aspirants. We list the vital ones here:

Annamalai University does not specify any age limit for B.Ed. admission.
Applicants should hold a recognized qualification under either 10+2+3 or 11+1+3 pattern of study. Candidates who have pursued a 4-year Engineering & Technology degree should have studied in the 10+2+4 pattern.
Candidates who have pursued their qualifying degree in the Open University System should have completed their senior secondary in the 10+2 format only.
Candidates who hold a UG degree with more than one major can pursue B.Ed. specialization in only one of the main subjects. However, the university will consider the marks of all the majors to meet the eligibility percentage of the qualifying degree.
Candidates who have qualified 5-Year Integrated Degree Programs, are eligible to apply. Such a candidate’s five-year aggregate score will be considered for admission.
Candidates wishing to specialize in Economics and Commerce are required to hold a PG degree in a relevant subject with a 50% aggregate score.
The minimum aggregate score requirement in the UG examination for B.Ed. admission for each student category is tabulated below:

Annamalai University B.Ed Admission Criteria

Annamalai University shortlists B.Ed. applicants on the basis of their academic merit.

A merit list is prepared considering the applicants’ marks in the qualifying examination.
Thereafter, candidates are invited for a round of counseling in the order of rank in the merit list.
Seat allotment is based on an individual candidate’s merit rank, considering the reservation policies of the university.
Please note that for holders of a 5-year Integrated Degree in subjects other than Commerce and Economics, the aggregate score of the first three years will be considered for admission shortlisting. For candidates who opt for Economics or Commerce specialization, marks obtained in the final two years of their Integrated Degree will be taken into consideration by the University.
Annamalai University also accords additional weightage (between 3 – 6 marks) for the purpose of ranking, considering factors such as highest qualification, and co-curricular activities.
Counseling is held at the university campus. Shortlisted candidates are required to pay a non-refundable counseling fee of INR 2000 (INR 1000 for SC/ ST candidates) either by cash or DD in favor of “The Registrar, Annamalai University”, payable at Chennai at the time of counseling.

Annamalai University B.Ed Course Details

The two-year program is conducted in the annual mode and has two prominent components: Theory and Practicum.
The Theory aspect of the program is composed of Core and Pedagogic courses, while the Practicum part consists of Activities and Internships.
During the two-year period, students have to study for 120 credits. The year-end examinations would earn them 36 additional credits.
Students are required to pursue two pedagogical courses in accordance with their corresponding major in the qualifying exam.

Ques. How are B.Ed. students evaluated at Annamalai University?

Ans. At Annamalai University, B.Ed. students are evaluated through continuous Internal Assessments and year-end external examinations. The former carries 25 marks for each theory paper, while the latter carries 75 marks each. The minimum passing marks in the external examination is 45%. Internal Assessments comprises Test, Assignment, Activities, and marks for attendance.

Ques. How are B.Ed. students graded at Annamalai University?

Ans. B.Ed. students at Annamalai University are marked with Grade Points, on both theory and practical courses. Students should secure at least 50% of the total marks, i.e. 100, in each theory paper taking together both internal assessment and external examination scores.

B.Ed. practical examination comprises three units and students are required to score a minimum of 50% in each unit to pass. Candidates that fail to score the pass percentage, are allowed another attempt at evaluation in front of the Board of Examiners

Students that score above 60% in a single attempt are placed in the First Class while all other students are placed in the Second Class.

Ques. How long is the School Internship in the B.Ed. program at Annamalai University?

Ans. B.Ed. students at Annamalai University have to undergo School Internship in both the first and second years. The internship should be in government-recognized schools, under public or private ownership, located 50 km radius of the University campus.

The first-year internship is of 4-weeks with 1-week of school engagement and 3-weeks of field visits to various resource centers. The second-year internship is of the 16-week duration of which 15-weeks must be spent in actual classroom teaching.

Post Matric Scholarship (encompassing special fees, examination fees, and maintenance charges) is awarded to SC/ST category students with family income below INR 2.5 LPA and Converted Christian (converted from SC/ST) with family income below INR 2.0 LPA.
Higher Education Special Scholarship is offered to students of the SC/ST category and also of the Converted Christian community with annual family income less than INR 2.0 LPA.
BC/MBC/DNC Scholarship awarded to students of the said categories with annual family income less than INR 2.0 LPA.

You can get your degree certificate from Annamalai University by following the below steps. Fill in the Convocation form which is available on the official website. Attach your provisional certificate and final year marksheet with the form. You need to pay a convocation fee as well. Send it to the Controller of Examination, Annamalai University. Annamalai University offers a variety of 457 courses across 17 streams. The college offers UG, PG, Diploma courses, and Ph.D. under various departments, such as Department of Engineering & Technology, Arts, Agriculture, Dentistry, Medicine, Fine Arts, Marine Sciences. NIRF ranked the university 92nd overall, in the country last year. The college also offers various courses in distance mode. Fee Structure- Since it is a state Institution, the fee is very low as compared to other top institutes. The fee charged for some of the courses is as follows- B.Sc.- 25,570/year M.Sc.- 36,450/year MBA- 56,450/year Ph.D.- 38,400/year B.Ed.- 42,000/year Campus life- International workshops, State level sports even and Cultural programs are conducted in the college. The college also provides facilities like wi-fi, library, medical facilities, food and accommodation etc. Internships- The college also provides internship opportunities and scholarships to the deserving students. The students are selected on the basis of their merit. Faculty- There are more than 100 lecturers in the university and most of them are Ph.D. scholars and have an expert background. Placements- The students are considered for the participation for the placement drives on the basis of their academic records. As per the latest records, the average salary offered was around 2.5 LPA, the lowest was 2 LPA and the highest was 10 LPA. Tata Consultancy Services, Dell EMC, Vodafone, Deloitte, Pepperfry.com, Cognizant, Indian Navy, Infosys, Tata Motors, Ernst & Young, Mahindra & Mahindra, and HCL are some of the major recruiters in the college.

How can I get transcripts from Annamalai University?

The best possible way to get transcripts is to visit the university and apply for it. A friend of mine strongly suggested not to apply through any middle agents or online transcript agencies. You can send in a representative with a letter of authorization provided by the candidate. The complete process takes a couple of days. Once you have arrived at the university then go to the examination office for further direction. You will need copies of: Marksheets Consolidated Marksheet (if any) Provisional Degree Certificate Degree Certificate Payment Receipt The cost of the transcripts is around Rs.3500 including the courier charges. However, if you wish to inquire at the front office as they will guide better regarding the required fee and other procedures. They would also give you a form to be filled with all the details. You will be advised to go to a browsing centre to do the payment from the university staff. So, do the payment via a computer rather than the phone. Here are the steps that would help you make payments online: Open the university website, go to the examinations, fees, other miscellaneous fees. You will have to enter the amount and pay for it online. However, the payment would be slow and it would go through. If you don't get the acknowledgment slip then simply enter the enrollment number again and click on acknowledge and one will get the receipt and take a printout of that slip. Once the payment is done then you need to go to an officer for the seal and stamp. Then you will be asked to meet the Chief examinations officer for documents verification. After all this work, the work at the university is done. Put all the documents in an envelope and seal it as per the requirements and the university itself would courier it to the required personal. The university provides a telephone number that you can use to call them to get the tracking number. However, the calls do not get answered. My personal advice would be to go to the university as it works faster. Try to arrive early as it will fasten up your process. Do not approach any middle man or any other online transcript services as the University has strict rules regarding it and they do not acknowledge it.
