Course Details

Sikkim Manipal University is inviting admission applications for its MA in English. Admission to MA English is merit-based. Candidates can apply for admission to this program if they have completed a BA or equivalent in a relevant subject with a minimum of 50% aggregate (45% in the case of SC/ST/OBC). SKU also provides a tuition fee concession based on percentage in the qualifying exam to the prospective MA English candidates.

SKU MA English How to Apply?

Step 1: Go to Sikkim Manipal University's official website (smu.edu.in) and click on 'Apply Now.'
Step 2: Choose the appropriate link for the course you're applying for.
Step 3: To begin the application process, enter the candidate's name, email address, phone number, and password. And, then, 'Next' should be selected.
Step 4: A new page with the application form appears. Fill in the candidate's personal information, such as his or her name, date of birth, gender, nationality, etc.
Step 5: Enter academic information such as the name of the qualifying exam, the board, the year of passing, and the percentage obtained.
Step 6: On the next page, an application number will be generated.
Step 7: Scroll to the bottom of the page to upload a scanned photo and signature of the candidate.
Step 8: Then, Upload the appropriate scorecards/mark sheets.
Step 9: Pay Rs. 500 as an application fee with a debit card, credit card, or net banking account, and then click 'Submit.'
Step 10: Finally, print a copy of the completed application form for future reference.

This program will enable students to explore influential works of the English Literature, read complex texts actively: recognize key passages; raise questions; appreciate complexity and ambiguity; comprehend the literal and figurative uses of language.
It will encourage students to practice writing as a process of motivated inquiry, engaging other writers’ ideas through the use of quotations, paraphrase, allusions, summary and to use sources well and cite them correctly.
The course also aims to increase confidence in speaking publicly: articulate clear questions and ideas in class discussion; listen thoughtfully and respectfully to others’ ideas; and prepare, organize, and deliver engaging oral presentations.

Students with a qualifying examination percentage of 50 percent to less than 60 percent are eligible for a 10% tuition fee reduction.
Students who scored 60 percent to 75 percent on their qualifying examination are eligible for a 20% tuition fee reduction.
Students who scored 75 percent or above on the qualifying exams are eligible for a 30 percent tuition fee reduction.

One of my friends is an alumnus of Sikkim Manipal University. He joined the Photography club as an overly enthusiastic fresher with a 2-megapixel camera and later on forgot all about it for the rest of 4 years of his course. No, the administration is not particularly the best at Sikkim Manipal University. I know a few people from the institute and here is what they had to say about the institute. There is a huge locational disadvantage of the university, given the constant issues faced by students. Recently, they have installed an ATM machine. The mess of the institute is not in its best condition. It is run by local people. They do not especially get concerned about the complaints students usually submit. The quality of food is not good even though they take exorbitant amounts of money for the food. The administration doesn’t take the necessary steps to resolve the issues raised by students. According to one of my friends from the CSE department they were not allowed to take industrial training from other companies. The professors are not gonna invest much of their time in your project. However, your project may get rejected for silly mistakes. Recently, in terms of placement, TCS rejected SMIT, while Amazon only hired students as their interns. The placement scenario is not good. This is everything that you should be aware of before enlisting at Sikkim Manipal University.

Manipal University (MU) is well ahead of Sikkim Manipal University (SMU) in terms of placement quality, infrastructure, faculty, and other factors. Many people, on the other hand, believe that Sikkim Manipal is the parent organization of Manipal University in Karnataka. Some people have never heard of the Manipal University of Karnataka, but thanks to aggressive marketing, everyone has heard of SMU. A degree from SMU is worth only half as much as a degree from Manipal University in Karnataka. However, I know some folks who attended SMU and are doing rather well, owing to their abilities rather than the college they chose. In general, SMU is not a great option for your studies. The remote learning or online MBA program, which is promoted and marketed significantly on television, is not nearly as beneficial as it appears. The quality of students who have pursued an MBA program is not up to par, as they lack a degree of confidence and intelligence. So, if you have other possibilities, I would advise you to not choose SMU as it would not prove to be a wise career choice for you.

SMU has a total of 25 MBA courses, and LPU has around 8. The total fee for SMU ranges between 1-4 lakhs with 60 seats in the general MBA course. The total fee for LPU ranges between 4-6 lakhs, with 360 seats for the general MBA and 20-30 seats in the other courses. Admission: SMU: Candidates need to sit for the university entrance examination and score 45% in the test. Scores from CAT/CMAT/GMAT/IGNOU/SNAP/XAT are also accepted. LPU: CAT/XAT/CMAT/GMAT/MAT scores are accepted. Candidates need 55% in their graduate-level program to be eligible for an MBA in LPU. Placements SMU: 90% of students get placed. COEP is better among these. It is one of the oldest and most well-reputed technological institutes in the country. COEP placements are excellent. The median CTC for the institute is around INR 5 LPA. During the recent placement, students received the highest CTC of around INR 7.1 LPA. COEP fees are more affordable. The course fee for a B.Tech is around INR 1.62 Lakhs. So, the ROI is good.
