Pondicherry University MTech Admission 2023 is ongoing. The last date of Open Spot admissions for vacant seats in the MTech (Nanoscience & Technology) is November 17, 2023. Candidates can apply for vacant seats through the official website @pondiuni.edu.in.

M.Tech. is a two-year PG course degree offered by Pondicherry University. This two-year program is divided across 4 semesters. It offers 8 different M.Tech streams to choose from. Pondicherry University M.Tech Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must have a B.Tech/BE degree from a recognized University.
They must hold a minimum of 55% in the Graduation.

Pondicherry University M.Tech Admission Guidelines

Selection to any specialization other than Computational Biology is done on the basis of Pondicherry University Entrance Examination conducted by the university.

For M. Tech in Computational Biology - on the basis of Common Entrance Examination conducted by PU in collaboration with Anna University.

Pondicherry University M.Tech Scholarships

The institute provides Merit and Merit cum Means scholarship for the M.Tech appearing candidates.

Merit Scholarship

Students who secure 1st, 2nd, and 3rd positions in the PG entrance exams can avail this scholarship. The amount of the scholarship is INR 2000/-, INR 1500/-, and INR 1000/- per month respectively.
Students who are rank holders in the UG degree are eligible for the merit scholarship.

Merit Cum Means Scholarship

Merit cum Means Scholarship is provided to 20% of students in the M.Tech program. It is based on the merit of semester examinations. It is provided to students whose parents income is not more than 2,50,000/-.

The first semester MCM scholarship will be provided based on merit in the Entrance exam. The amount is INR 750/- per month.

Merit cum Means Scholarship Eligibility:

Candidates must secure 70% attendance each month.
Candidates must pass all the subjects in semester examinations.
Candidates must verify with the HOD if the above 2 eligibility criteria are satisfied.

Scholarship for M.Tech Computational Biology

The institute offers INR 12000/- per month to all the students admitted in the subject.

Madanjeet Singh Group Scholarship

The institute offers full scholarships to 8 students in the M.Tech program. It is provided by the members of SAARC countries. This Scholarship covers living expenses of INR 10000/-, hostel fee, and tuition fee.

Ministry of New and Renewable Energy

MNRE offers CGET scholarship to 15 M.Tech students after qualifying GATE/CSIR.

GATE Scholarship

GATE Scholarship is provided by UGC to students who secure valid marks in GATE examination.

There are various ways in which a University can be termed bad. According to some of my friends who study there, Pondicherry University is not good due to the following reasons: Uncooperative Faculty - The faculty does not give good internal marks and does not teach the subject in the class for the entire degree duration. More than 60% of faculty doesn’t provide a double-digit score in the internal assessment. Classes are not conducted regularly. It has been seen that they usually taught in 1st year only and you have to study on your own for the remaining time. Unfair Evaluation- There is no correct answer evaluation at Pondicherry University. The papers are evaluated casually. Deserving students are often failed in the examination due to the carelessness of the teachers. Last-Minute Decisions - The decisions at Pondicherry University can be taken at any time. There have been many cases where exams get rescheduled without any prior notice. This creates problems for students coming from other states as they have done their flight/train bookings in advance. These can be the reasons why Pondicherry University is not good. There are a lot of provisions which could be improved.

There are five hostels for women at Pondicherry University. Some are old and some are new. The quality, facilities, standards, décor, etc depends on whether you are getting the new hostels or the old ones. The old ones are being repaired, however, and new hostels for women will be constructed soon. The condition and facilities vary depending on the location of the rooms in a particular hostel. You will get rooms that will accommodate two or three students including you. You will get utilities like a table, cupboard, bed, fans, etc. Apart from these, you will also get unlimited wifi connection, an area for washing and drying clothes, and drinking water facilities. You can address your grievances to the administrative staff and the office of the warden.

The official website of the university will show you how to get the transcript. Before you apply for the transcript, keep in mind that you must have the original mark sheets for which you need the transcript and how many transcripts you need. Also, do not forget to get photocopies of the mark sheet as they will be your future transcripts. After you are done with the online processes, go to the Registrar’s Office which is in the Admin Block. You can get the transcript request form. You can also download it from the website. After you get the form, go to the Indian Bank that is in the university that is next to the Admin Block where you have to pay for the transcripts. After the payment, you will be given a challan for the same which you can attach with the transcript. With the photocopy of the mark sheets, submit the form with the challan. For verification, you may be asked to produce the original mark sheets. The Assistant Registrar signs and stamps each and every copy submitted by you. If you submitted the documents before 12 PM, you might get the transcripts on the same day before 5 PM. If not, then definitely the next day. Get an envelope of good quality for the transcripts as they will be sealed and signed. Usually, the transcript is a statement of marks in a specific format and is a separate document. In the case of Pondicherry University, though, the mark sheet itself is a transcript. You will get them in two days tops. The procedure can take quite a long time in other places.

Some of my friends studied at Pondicherry University. According to them, they offer three Integrated M.Sc programs – Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science Physics, Chemistry and Applied Geology History, Sociology and Political Science You will have to choose from these three disciplines only and then choose the major subject among them. The advantages of the course and university are listed below. You can exit the course after three years with a B.Sc degree. The syllabus is light even though there are three major subjects and thus you can take up any additional courses you like. The university offers freedom in terms of uniform, timetable, and everything else while many of the undergraduate colleges still have school-like rules. You can study an undergraduate course from a university which is pretty rare. Studying 5 years in an Arts stream is difficult and should be reconsidered. The best course is Physics, Chemistry, and Applied Geology. Doing M.Sc in Computer Science is also not a good idea.

For the test, you need to be moderately prepared (depending on the level of the student) and practice the last 4-5 years of the question paper. The level is easy Most people aim for the IITs, IISc, and ISI Kolkata before joining this university if they do not get a chance there. You can get an idea of the level of the university. The course is good with excellent faculty and a good study environment, more freedom and no academic or social pressures. So it would be a wise decision to join here if you do not get the top colleges.
