North Orissa University offers Post Graduate regular courses in MA / MSc / MCA and self-financing courses in MBA / MA / MSc / MSW / MLIS / Integrated BEd + MEd at Baripada campus and Post Graduate regular course in MA / MSc at Keonjhar campus. In addition, the University offers M.Phil. and Ph.D. programmes in the regular departments. 

  • Graduate degree holders in respective subjects are eligible to apply for PG courses in MBA / MCA / MA / MSc / MSW / MLIS.
  • Post Graduates in relevant disciplines can apply for Integrated BEd + MEd / MPhil / Pre PhD.
  • To secure admission in MBA / MCA candidates should qualify OJEE.
  • PG Courses in MA / MSc / MSW / MLIS / Integrated BEd + MEd admissions are based on Academic records and Entrance Exams conducted by North Orissa University.
  • MPhil / Pre PhD courses require the candidates to go through the Entrance Exam followed by Interview conducted by North Orissa University.
  • Admissions are strictly based on merit.

North Orissa University was established in 1998 by the Government of Odisha. It is recognized by UGC and its jurisdiction covers around 100 colleges in Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar districts in northern part of Odisha imparting education to a large number of students at the graduate and postgraduate level. It’s main campus is at Baripada and second campus is at Keonjhar academically functional with effect from 2017.

North Orissa University MBA Eligibility Criteria 2023

  • Any graduation degree holder (Maths/ Business at 10+2 level) from a recognized institute or university with minimum 50% marks is eligible.
  • Students appearing for final year examination can apply.
  • They should have appeared for the Odisha Joint Entrance Examination. 

North Orissa University MBA SelectionCriteria 2023 :

  • Admissions will be merit based on the scores obtained in the OJEE exam.
  • Final admission will be granted after verification of documents during counselling.

How to apply for OJEE ?

  • Visit the official site of OJEE.
  • Choose the application form as per your course selection.
  • Fill the application form with personal, academic, qualification details, you will have to choose the preferred exam centre.
  • Upload scanned images of your passport sized photograph, signature and left hand thumb impression.
  • Payment of application fee of INR 1000 or INR 1500 whichever is applicable to application form in respect to your course selection.
  • Once the Application Form is submitted carefully, take a print out of the same for future reference.

North Orissa University PG Eligibility Criteria

  • Honours / Honours Graduate in relevant discipline with 50% marks (45% for reserved categories) from a recognized university.
  • Post Graduate Degree in Sciences / Social Sciences / Humanities with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade from recognized institution to apply for Integrated BEd + MEd course.
  • Integrated BEd + MEd course will intake 25 candidates from Science stream and 25 candidates from Arts stream.

  • Admission shall be made on the basis of merit of their Academic Career 50% and performance in the written Entrance Test 50%.
  • Questions will be set from course content of the respective subject at the graduation level.
  • The candidate has to secure a minimum of 30% in the Entrance Test in order to be eligible for selection for admission.

North Orissa University MPhil Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates with a good academic career securing at least 55% (in case of SC / ST candidates 50%) marks or equivalent grade at Master's Degree in the respective subject from any recognized university.
  • Candidates qualifying UGC CSIR NET / GATE / SLET test and awardees of Teacher Fellowship (TF) from UGC are exempted from the Entrance Exam only.
  • Candidates who have already submitted a Ph.D. thesis or been awarded Ph.D. degree cannot apply.

  • Admission shall be made on merit basis of their performance in the Entrance Test and Interview.
  • Questions will be set from course content of the respective subject at the post graduation level.

North Orissa University Pre-PhD Eligibility Criteria

  • The candidates must have secured a Master’s Degree with at least 55% marks (in case of SC / ST candidates 50% marks) or its equivalent grade points in the subject concerned from recognized university / institute.
  • Candidates qualifying UGC CSIR NET / JRF / GATE / SLET test and awardees of Teacher Fellowship (TF) from UGC are exempted from the Entrance Exam only.
  • M.Phil. / M.Tech. Degree holders are exempted from written Entrance Test provided they have studied Research Methodology as one of the papers and exempted from Pre Ph.D. Course work.
  • Registration for Ph.D course after Completion of Pre PhD :
    • Apply within one month from the date of publication of results, for presentation of the synopsis in the prescribed form.
    • The presentation shall include Objective of the work, Review of literature, Materials and methods to be used, Possible outcome of the proposed work and tentative time frame.
    • Application must be submitted to the office of the Controller of Examination (COE) by registered post or by hand, along with the requisite fee in the form of bank draft.

North Orissa University Pre-PhD Selection Criteria

  • Admission shall be made on merit basis of their performance in the Entrance Test and Interview.
  • Questions will be set from course content of the respective subject at the post graduation level.
  • Intake of 10 Science candidates and 20 Arts candidates for Pre Ph.D course.

How to Apply for North Orissa University?

  • Candidates are invited through open advertisements in Odia and English daily newspapers for admission into PG / M.Phil / Integrated B.Ed + M.Ed / Pre Ph.D courses.
  • Candidates who have passed / appeared at the qualifying examination can apply.

  • Application forms are available online.
  • Fill up the personal and academic details and the course details.
  • Application fee for PG / Integrated B.Ed + M.Ed Course is INR 500, MPhil courses is INR 600 and Pre PhD courses is INR 1000.
  • Submit and print the application form.
  • The hard copy of the application form should be submitted along with relevant documents to the PG Chairman Office, PG Council before the given deadline.
  • Relevant documents required to be submitted with hard copy :
    • Application form generated after payment of Application Fee.
    • Copies of mark sheets and certificates of all examinations.
    • Copy of certificate to avail reservation such as Caste Certificate (SC / ST) / physically challenged students / Kashmiri migrants / Ex-service (ESM) / Serving Defence Personal (SDP) from the competent authority.
    • Copies of certificates of Sports and games participation / NSS / NCC / Rover & Ranger from the competent authority for special weightage consideration.
    • Copy of the certificate to avail benefit under Green passage Scheme.

FAQs

Ques. What are the facilities available at the campus?

Ans. Hostel facilities for both females and males can be provided subject to availability of seats and position of the applicant in the merit list. The library has more than 51000 text and reference books in different subjects besides books of common interest. The sports council has been organizing inter-college tournaments competitions in various sports and games. Other facilities such as dispensary, gym , canteen are also available in the campus.

Ques. Is there a placement cell at the university?

Ans. Yes, the University has an established training and placement cell to educate and create opportunities for on recruitments on campus and off campus in various organisations. A number of our students have already been absorbed in different capacities in Institutions/Organizations like Wild life society of Orissa; SBI-Life; Vinay Construction Company; SODA and Gram Swaraj (NGOs), Baripada, BHU, Varanasi, IIT, Hyderabad, IIT, Guwahati, IIT, Bhubaneswar etc. based on our recommendations and timely information. The students have been absorbed in multiple top companies / institutes like TCS, Wipro, NISER, etc.

Ques. What is the selection criteria for research studies?

Ans. The candidates must have secured 55% marks or equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC 7-point-scale in Master’s degree. Those who cleared M.Phil. course work with securing 55% marks or equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC 7-point-scale and successfully completing the M.Phil. Degrees can proceed to do research work leading to Ph.D degree in the same institution in the integrated program. The candidates are required to go through Pre PhD course and Entrance exam followed by Interview conducted by North Orissa University.

Ques. Does the college provide any scholarships?

Ans. Yes, various scholarships are provided under the following categories:
  • College / University Merit Scholarships.
  • Students belonging to the economically weaker sections may ask for fee concession (*depends on the college administrations).
  • Merit cum means based scholarships are also awarded by the college to deserving students.
