Bachelor of Technology (B. Tech.) Environmental Engineering is a 4 yearundergraduate program that enables the aspiring students to work for the betterment of environment and develop new techniques to improve the use of renewable and non-renewable sources available. The basic eligibility for admission to the program is a pass in 10+2 with Maths, Physics and Chemistry as main subjects.
The course is of 4 years duration. The course is structured in a way that teaches about the applied science of engineering principles in accordance to environmental studies, that initiates healthy water, better land reformations for humans and other organisms.
The fees of the course varies from 30,000 INR to 80,000 INR per semester in different colleges.
Environmental Engineers get placed with governmental and non-governmental organizations where they are required to bring out schemes that help in waste management and put rules and regulations for judicious use of resources.
Chemical, Petroleum, Mining and Biological disciplines are some of the main work areas for Environmental Engineers.
B. Tech. Environmental Engineering is a well-recognized academic program which as the name suggests, deals with Environmental Sciences that includes a list of topics, some of which are air pollution control, hazardous waste management, public health, land management etc.
The program involves study of biological, physical and chemical components of environment which accelerates the understanding of principles of conservation, climate change, biodiversity, groundwater and soil contamination.
B. Tech Environmental Engineering is a vast course which help students get a deeper knowledge of use of natural resources and conserving them. The course offers a visionary detail of high quality researches and technologies for environment related issues.
Students who are intrigued by Environmental Sciences and have a concerned attitude towards environmental issues may opt for this course.
Those who wish to study renewable energy, preservation of nature and topics of sustainable development are also suitable for B. Tech Environmental Engineering.
B. Tech Environmental Engineering program makes student acquainted with the environmental issues, for which topics like waste and water management, air pollution, noise pollution, sewage disposal are carried out.
Students learn to develop strategies for global warming, disaster management and climate change. All these topics taught in this program build problem solving skills in the students which makes them qualified and successful Environmental Engineers.
Students learn to make reports on their research work and mould them into ideas and proposals that can be highly beneficial for Environmental studies. They are taught to develop leadership qualities for handling teamwork as Environmental Engineers as they are often required to work in a team of professionals during internships and jobs.
After completing B. Tech Environmental Engineering successfully, a student can opt for a post-graduation course in Environmental Engineering i.e. M. Tech/M.E. in Environmental Engineering, which is offered by many M.Tech. offeringColleges in India.
Some other courses that one can opt for after B. Tech Environmental Engineering are Masters of Engineering in Environment Management, Master of Science, Master of Engineering in Geomaticetc.

The CGPA to Percentage conversion formula in BPUT is as follows.
(CGPA - 0.5) * 10
Let’s say you have scored a CGPA of 8.5. The corresponding percentage for your CGPA is -
(8.5 - 0.5) * 10 = 8.0 * 10 = 80%
Here is a video explaining the same
You can easily calculate your percentage by following the above formula.
There is no such marking system at BPUT. They provide only grades and you cannot figure out how many marks you have scored in the examination. The grading system is as follows:
|
Grades |
Marks Range |
|
O |
90-100 |
|
E |
80-89 |
|
A |
70-79 |
|
B |
60-69 |
|
C |
50-59 |
|
D |
35-49 |
|
F |
Below 35 |
Here it is mentioned that O is the highest level. Grade C is considered to be an average grade. Grade D is the passing grade for theory and Grade C is a passing grade for Practical, seasonal, project, seminar, and viva voice. A student’s level of competence is measured by grade point average as semester grade point average and cumulative grade point average.
KIIT is the best college among these, in terms of placements. Reputed companies like Accenture, Wipro, Cognizant, etc. visit the campus drive each year. Here are the highlights of KIIT University 2022 placements.
| Parameters | Statistics |
| Average CTC | INR 6.05 LPA |
| Highest CTC | INR 52 LPA |
| No. of recruiters visited | 300+ |
| Offers made | 5,000+ |
SOA (ITER) ranks next after KIIT, in terms of placements. During the 2022 placement drive, SOA Bhubaneswar offered the highest CTC of INR 42 LPA.
You need to know that collecting transcripts from BPUT is a very long and tiring process. Following are the steps to collect transcripts from BPUT:
This process is the most tiring one but you need to be very patient while handling this phase. Once you receive the transcripts, you would feel a sense of achievement and a lot of relief.
As per the new rules declared in 2018-19, you must clear a total of 179 credits (regular) and 129 credits (LE) to get your degree. If your total credits are greater than the above-said criterion, you can definitely skip the extra credit subject if you want to. For example, if you have a total credit score of 182, then you can willingly skip 182-179=3 credit subjects.
Now, suppose you have skipped one of your exams. The SGPA calculation on skipping the exam would be as follows:
|
Grade |
Score |
|
O |
10 |
|
E |
9 |
|
A |
8 |
|
B |
7 |
|
C |

|
D |
5 |
|
F |
2 |

M |

S |

The credit points per subject (CP) = Score* Credits of that subject
Credit Index (Sem)(CI)= Sum of all subjects*CP
Total credits (TC)= Total credit of each semester (Exclude the credits of the skipped subject)
SGPA=CI/TC.
This would be the new way to calculate your SGPA, once you skip an exam.
You always need to remember that if you are a student in BPUT, your syllabus is huge and the time period is very limited. You have to work on your own. Following are some tips and tricks for you to clear the BPUT exam:
You would definitely pass the exam with good grade points unless you have any attendance issues or backlogs.
