B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering (B.Tech CSE) is an undergraduate engineering course on practical and theoretical knowledge of computer hardware and software. The minimum eligibility for this course requires passing class 12th/ Higher Secondary Examinationin Physics, Mathematics and English with a minimum of 50% marks.
B.Tech CSEis a course completed over a span of four year just like any other engineering course. It is also often pitted againstBachelor of Computer Application (BCA). The mode of admission is through State/ National/ University Joint Entrance Examination.
The average tuition fee for this course ranges between 2Lakhs INR to 10 Lakhs INR.
B.Tech CSEgraduates can find employment in academic institutions, IT software companies, journalism, sales and marketing. The job profiles for graduates of this course can be lecturer, technical editor, content developer, Software engineer, software developer, programmer analyst, test engineer etc.
A fresh graduate of this course can expect an annual salary of between 1.5 Lakh INR – 3.5 Lakhs INR which would only increase with experience in the field.
B.Tech CSE is a comprehensive course in computer applications and system. It deals withdesigning and developing computer software and hardware processes.
Since the use of computers has become a necessity in everyday life, it is hardly surprising that an engineering course in Computer science is extremely popular among students. With the use and importance of the computer and computer applications increasing day-by day it safe to say that seeking a career in this field is profitable.
BCA is a course dedicated completely to computer application; the software involved; its design, programming, operational function, management etc.
B.Tech CSEis an engineering course which is based in various engineering disciplines such as computer engineering, mechanical engineering, communications, electronic, Software engineering etc. along with the knowledge of computer systems.
Since B.Tech CSE is an engineering course, the duration of the course is four years. The course follows a semester system over annual mode and hence the course consists of eight semesters.
There are various B.Tech. Colleges in India which offer B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering. Few of top colleges for B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering are as follows:

The CGPA to Percentage conversion formula in BPUT is as follows.
(CGPA - 0.5) * 10
Let’s say you have scored a CGPA of 8.5. The corresponding percentage for your CGPA is -
(8.5 - 0.5) * 10 = 8.0 * 10 = 80%
Here is a video explaining the same
You can easily calculate your percentage by following the above formula.
There is no such marking system at BPUT. They provide only grades and you cannot figure out how many marks you have scored in the examination. The grading system is as follows:
Grades |
Marks Range |
O |
90-100 |
E |
80-89 |
A |
70-79 |
B |
60-69 |
C |
50-59 |
D |
35-49 |
F |
Below 35 |
Here it is mentioned that O is the highest level. Grade C is considered to be an average grade. Grade D is the passing grade for theory and Grade C is a passing grade for Practical, seasonal, project, seminar, and viva voice. A student’s level of competence is measured by grade point average as semester grade point average and cumulative grade point average.
KIIT is the best college among these, in terms of placements. Reputed companies like Accenture, Wipro, Cognizant, etc. visit the campus drive each year. Here are the highlights of KIIT University 2022 placements.
Parameters | Statistics |
Average CTC | INR 6.05 LPA |
Highest CTC | INR 52 LPA |
No. of recruiters visited | 300+ |
Offers made | 5,000+ |
SOA (ITER) ranks next after KIIT, in terms of placements. During the 2022 placement drive, SOA Bhubaneswar offered the highest CTC of INR 42 LPA.
You need to know that collecting transcripts from BPUT is a very long and tiring process. Following are the steps to collect transcripts from BPUT:
This process is the most tiring one but you need to be very patient while handling this phase. Once you receive the transcripts, you would feel a sense of achievement and a lot of relief.
As per the new rules declared in 2018-19, you must clear a total of 179 credits (regular) and 129 credits (LE) to get your degree. If your total credits are greater than the above-said criterion, you can definitely skip the extra credit subject if you want to. For example, if you have a total credit score of 182, then you can willingly skip 182-179=3 credit subjects.
Now, suppose you have skipped one of your exams. The SGPA calculation on skipping the exam would be as follows:
Grade |
Score |
O |
10 |
E |
9 |
A |
8 |
B |
7 |
C |
6 |
D |
5 |
F |

M |

S |

The credit points per subject (CP) = Score* Credits of that subject
Credit Index (Sem)(CI)= Sum of all subjects*CP
Total credits (TC)= Total credit of each semester (Exclude the credits of the skipped subject)
SGPA=CI/TC.
This would be the new way to calculate your SGPA, once you skip an exam.
You always need to remember that if you are a student in BPUT, your syllabus is huge and the time period is very limited. You have to work on your own. Following are some tips and tricks for you to clear the BPUT exam:
You would definitely pass the exam with good grade points unless you have any attendance issues or backlogs.
