Course Description

NIT Meghalaya BTech admissions 2024 registrations are under process. The institute offers BTech as its flagship program at the UG level. NIT Meghalaya’s flagship course admission i.e., BTech is done on the basis of JEE Mains score followed by the JoSAA counselling. Aspirants who are interested in this program can now apply online on jeemain.nta.nic. since the application process is open.

Furthermore, NIT Meghalaya BTech 2024 admissions will be based on JEE Mains 2024. JEE Mains is expected to take place in two phases, i.e., in the month of January and April. JEE Mains 2024 first attempt exam date is scheduled on the last week of January 2024 (tentative).

NIT Meghalaya BTech Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must have completed their 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and English as the required subjects in order to be admitted to NIT Meghalaya's B.Tech program.
A minimum overall CGPA of 6.5 or 60 percent is required for candidates.

NIT Meghalaya BTech Admission Criteria

A four-year, full-time BTech degree is available at NIT Meghalaya in five different engineering specialties. If a student earned an overall average of at least 60% in Class 12, they are eligible to enroll in the NIT Meghalaya BTech program. Qualified candidates must pass the JEE Main exam and show up for the JoSAA counselling in order to be admitted to NIT Meghalaya. The table below provides information on NIT Meghalaya admissions:

Entrance Exam Details

Candidates seeking BTech admission to NIT Meghalaya will use their JEE Main 2022 scores. There will be 75 questions on the test in total. Additionally, each subject will include three sections, such as mathematics, physics, and chemistry.

The questions in the sections on physics, chemistry, and math are equally weighted. Four points will be given for each correctly answered question.

One mark will be subtracted from an MCQ for each incorrect response. Questions with numerical value answers will receive 4 marks for each correct response and a negative mark of -1 for an incorrect answer or an unattempted question.

NIT Meghalaya BTech Application Process

Fill up the online application form on the NIT Meghalaya website, and upload all necessary documents.
Officials from the Institute will examine the documentation. The office will email the students and inform them if there is a problem with their certificates.
Following the admissions process, you will be given a roll number. The faculty adviser will also provide you with details on how to register for online classes and get your Roll No. You will receive your Roll No. through email.
Each student will be assigned a faculty advisor, who will assist in the enrollment process.
Each student will be given an Institute email ID via their registered mail address.
Online classes will be conducted in the Microsoft Teams App until things are back to normal.
Each student will get a user ID and password through the mail.
To attend all classes, students must instantly sign in to the Microsoft Teams App using their roll number.

The B.Tech program has a four-year curriculum. In some cases, though, a student might decide on a slow-paced program if they can't handle the workload.
The curriculum for the B.Tech programs will be recommended by the Undergraduate Program and Evaluation Committee (UGPEC).
Almost all students from all disciplines will follow the same curricula throughout the first two semesters.
If there are many For UR grades in a subject taught in the autumn or spring semester, a department may offer a summer course.
Regular attendance, participation in the continuing evaluation process, and classroom discussions are important components of academic programs.
Students are advised to attend every class without fail to maintain 100% attendance. Lower marks for that semester could be the result of insufficient attendance.

The choice generally depends on the certain individual and what he prefers. Both of these institutes started in the same year. They are both new NITs so they come with their fair share of pros and cons. One of my friends did his Master’s from NIT Meghalaya. According to him, it still has a lot to work on and improve, be it their infrastructure, research grants, etc. The permanent campus is under construction. The Electrical Engineering department has better-equipped labs than the other departments. If you are willing to pursue a Master’s program then it is recommended you opt for any other college rather than the two mentioned. Before choosing an institute, think about what your requirements are. Here are some points that might help you make a decision. If your aim is a job in a corporate sector then the NITs will definitely be better options. Opt for either NIT Meghalaya or Nagaland. Do not compare their placements with older NITs as it could prove disappointing. Tezpur University (TU) is also known to provide good placement opportunities but it is more concentrated to only the CSE department. You may get placements from a few IT companies, but overall placements are concerned NITs are definitely better than TU. Students who are interested in learning and exploring research fields can opt for TU as well. Tezpur University has very good faculty strength in ECE & CSE. The two departments are much older too. The CSE faculty and labs of TU are better than NIT Silchar. TU has got a good research environment as there are multiple departments of Science and Engineering, which is not the case of the mentioned NITs. Therefore it is suggested that if you aim for an immediate job opportunity, go for NITs. For students who feel confident that they can get a job off campus or are more inclined towards academics and research can go for TU.

You should choose NIT Sikkim EC. The department has a great faculty base. Most of the faculty members are alumni of reputed IITs. The institute offers good placement opportunities to students. For 2020-21 academic year, NIT Sikkim placements have seen a 72.86% placement rate. Reputed companies such as TCS, Godrej, Infosys, etc. take part in the placement drive.

EEE and ECE are both totally different branches and both of them have their respective job opportunities. After a lot of research, I got to know about NIT Meghalaya and Nagaland. Let me discuss them, which might give you a better idea. In today’s world ECE has more opportunities in the private sectors whereas EEE has got more opportunities in government sectors. They also have different requirements for the jobs. In ECE you just need to maintain a good CGPA, with the basics fully memorized and you are good to go. For EEE and getting a government job like PSU, you need to apply for GATE and get a good rank and score. Placement in the ECE stream is easier than the EEE stream. The placements of NIT Meghalaya are a little above Nagaland. You can change your course in NIT Meghalaya to ECE even after selecting EEE in the first semester. PEC Chandigarh and NIT Meghalaya, neither of them are good colleges as of now due to some major reasons. NIT Meghalaya: NIT Meghalaya is situated in the northeastern part of India and it is a newly built NIT. It now comes at the bottom among all the NITs of our country. This is because of the poor and temporary management faculty and it doesn't even have a campus of its own. The placements here are currently very poor as this college is newly built. It will take its time to get exposure and recognition which can attract top companies to visit for campus placements. PEC Chandigarh: PEC Chandigarh is not a great college as students scoring lower ranks like 40k or more can also get admission at PEC. The placement records are also very poor here. And being at PEC Chandigarh you will also not get the NITian tag which can be very helpful while looking for jobs. It is suggested to take a year drop and start preparing for JEE Main properly and aim to score higher marks. Appear for the January exam and not the April exam as almost every student targets for it and it can be very difficult to score higher rankings as competition will get very tough. January exam will have less competition and it will be easy to get higher rankings which can indeed open possibilities to get admission in one of the top IITs or NITs.

NIT Meghalaya is ranked 68th among the engineering colleges in India by NIRF Ranking 2019. The placement record of this institute is quite good by providing almost 90% placements every year. NIT Nagaland is one of the 30 NITs in India by having its campus and providing all its students’ requirements. The institute ranks 151 by NIRF Ranking and provides nearly 80% placements every year. Admission process: NIT Meghalaya The minimum eligibility criteria to apply for BTech is 10+2 with a minimum aggregate of 75% marks. The candidates have to pass the JEE Main exam followed by a JoSAA counselling to get admission. The cutoff required is 10930 - 29211. The fee required is INR 5.68 LPA. The total intake is 646.
