Mumbai University doesn’t provide transcripts. It only provides attestation. You need to collect your transcript from the college you have studied. Then you need to get the transcripts attested from Mumbai University.

  • To get your transcripts, you need to apply to your college. If you have done a distant or corresponding course from Mumbai University, visit the IDOL building in MU, Kalina, and go to the particular course department room.
  • To avoid revisiting keep all your original documents and one self-attested xerox copy of the marksheet of the course you need the transcript for. Also keep the  ID card, hall ticket (for roll number), school leaving certificate, 10th certificate, birth certificate, DOB proof. If you don’t have the hall ticket, they will help you track it down. They may not ask for it but keeping the original and a xerox copy of the Pan and Adhar card is a good idea.
  • They will track down your transfer certificate number in their register. After that, they will give you a form to fill up. You also need to attach the required documents along with the form. You need to pay the required fees. They charge INR 750 per copy per course, currently.  Make a xerox of the receipt and attach it to the form and submit. They will give the transcript after 15 days. You will need to collect it personally.

You can complete the attestation online on the mu.etranscript.in. Attestation fees are separate. They will send the transcripts electronically to WES or the college or university you request.

PRN (Permanent Registration Number) is a 16 digit unique number that is also referred to as the roll number of a student provided by this university.

While applying for any course at Mumbai University, you are required to fill an online application form and after submitting this form the data is stored by the system. The data is used to find whether or not you are eligible. If you are eligible for admission then you will be provided with the 16 digit number known as PRN and it will remain the same throughout the registration period.

This PRN number can be used as a reference number for any kind of contact or communication with the university

So, the PRN number of a student is basically the reference or roll number which will be used throughout your graduation period.

There are no such sites available where you will get solved question papers from Mumbai University. However, there are some series solutions available for some courses. But the answers provided in these solution papers aren’t that good. So, students usually don’t refer to these solution papers. Easy Solution, and KT2 80 are some of such solution papers.

NMIMS is better than Mumbai University for an M.Sc. in Statistics. The course is more practical oriented. NMIMS placements are better too. Students of M.Sc Statistics receive an average CTC of around INR 8 LPA. While the highest CTC goes up to INR 16.8 LPA. Students are offered roles such as Data Scientists, and Data Analysts. Course 5i, and Accenture are among the major recruiters.

The master's in Statistics offered by MU is more theory-oriented and doesn’t offer the skills required in the industry.

It depends on your future plan. If you want good salary packages after your master's, then doing an MS from the US will be better. Landing a good job with a decent salary package after master's will be difficult in India, except maybe some old IIT. While the scope for work after doing an MS from the US is huge. Many major MNCs have their headquarters in Silicon Valley. The job profiles offered are also comparably better there. But doing an MS from the US is no mean feat. It’s expensive and risky.

If you are interested in pursuing research, you should do your research under the guidance of a good professor. Go through the website of different reputed universities around the world and look through the profile of the professors from your field. Look at their publications, talk to some of their students, and find out how active they are in research. These are some of the important aspects of choosing a guide.

According to Mumbai University ATKT rules, engineering students are allowed a maximum of 5 end-semester and 3 internal KTs. Including end-semester and internals, you can have a maximum of 8 KTs in the first year.

You need to clear your first-year KTs by the end of 2nd year, i.e. 4th semester. Students aren’t allowed to carry any first-year KT to the third year. Even if you clear all first-year KTs by the 4th semester except 1, you have to take a drop. It is the golden KT rule.

If you require less ten 10 marks to pass, the chances of passing after a revaluation is good in Mumbai University. The university gives grace marks up to 8.

In revaluation, moderator checks for counting mistakes and unchecked answers. If you are certain about your marks expectation, then opt for revaluation.

Don’t choose Mumbai University for pursuing a course. You should look for other alternatives.

  • The teaching methodology used by the university is outdated. You won’t learn the practical aspects of your subject. The syllabus isn’t updated.
  • The university website takes ages to load. You will need hours to accomplish a simple task of 5 min on the website.
  • Mumbai University exam and revaluation system aren’t effective. A friend of mine was declared failed in his university paper, due to their counting error. This is not an isolated incident. If you talk to the students of the university, you will hear many such cases.

In terms of academics, examinations, and other related factors, it is not a good university.

The rules for ATKT at Mumbai University are simple and easy to follow.

  • If you have more than 2 KT in each semester, then you will not be promoted to the next year. You will have to drop a year from college and appear for the exams again.
  • Keep a close eye on the notifications related to the exam and fill the form accordingly.
  • If you have 2 or less KT in each semester, then you will be promoted to the next year.
  • To appear for 3rd year examination, you must clear either your 1st or 2nd year.

You would not be allowed to continue your term in the third year if you fail in any of the subjects of the first year and second year (cross ATKT).
