Bangalore University M.Sc Eligibility Criteria

Candidates seeking admission to the M.Sc. course of Bangalore University shall fulfill the minimum eligibility criteria as mentioned below:

For Life Sciences: Must require a B.Sc. with any Life Science Subject with at least 50% marks in the aggregate OR B.Sc. (Agri.) with 50% marks in aggregate are also eligible to apply. Preference will be given to B.Sc. graduates with Sericulture as one of the optional Subjects
For Fashion & Apparel Design: Candidate must Graduates in Science / Engineering in Fashion & Apparel Design / Textiles & Clothing / Apparel & Fashion Technology/ Fashion Designing / Costume &Apparel Design / Costume Design and Fashion / Textile Technology / Silk Technology with a minimum of 50% marks.
For Biochemistry: Candidate must Graduates with 40% marks in aggregate of all subjects and at least 50% marks in Chemistry/ Biochemistry
For Botany: Candidate must Graduates with 40% marks in aggregate of all subjects and at least 50% marks in Botany/ Applied Botany
For Molecular Biology: Candidate must Graduation with 50% marks in the aggregate of all optional subjects with compulsory Chemistry/ Biochemistry and one of the following Optional Subjects: Botany/Zoology/Biochemistry / Biotechnology / Microbiology / Applied Genetics /Applied Botany /Applied Zoology/ Sericulture / any other Bioscience subject
For Chemistry: Candidate must Graduates with 40% marks in aggregate of all subjects and at least 50% marks in Chemistry
For Computer Science: Candidate must require B.Sc. with Computer Science or BCA with Mathematics as one of the main subjects with at least 50% marks in the aggregate of all optional subjects OR B.Sc. with P.G. Diploma / Certificate Course in Computer Science are also eligible to apply
For Electronic Media: Candidate must be any graduate with 50% marks in aggregate
For Electronic Science: Candidate must Graduation in Science with a minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate of all the optional subjects: Physics, Mathematics & Electronics / Physics, Mathematics & Instrumentation / Computer Science, Mathematics & Electronics.
For Applied Geology: Candidate must be any B.Sc. graduate with 50% marks in all optional subjects.

For Geography: Candidate must Graduate with 40% marks in aggregate of all subjects and at least 50% marks in Geography.
For Library & Information Science: Candidate must Bachelor’s with second class along with 50% marks in the optional subject
For Mathematics: Candidate must Graduate with 40% marks in aggregate of all subjects and at least 50% marks in Mathematics.
For Microbiology & Biotechnology: Candidate must B.Sc. with any Life Science Subject with at least 50% marks in aggregate or B.Sc. in Biotechnology OR B.Sc. (Hons.) in Biotechnology / Biology / Botany /Microbiology / Zoology.
For Physics: Candidate must Graduation with Physics and Mathematics as two of the three related subjects with 40% marks in aggregate of all subjects and 50% marks in the aggregate of all optional subjects.
For Psychology: Candidate must Graduate with 40% marks in aggregate of all subjects and at least 50% marks in Psychology.
For Psychological Counselling: Candidate must B.A. /B.Sc. with 50% marks in the aggregate of optional subjects with at least one paper in Psychology at the graduate level OR B.Ed. or P.G. Diploma in Counselling.
For Statistics: Candidate must B.Sc. with Statistics and Mathematics as optional subjects with a minimum of 50% in Statistics and 40% in the aggregate of all subjects OR B.Sc. with Statistics as major/main subject and Mathematics as a minor subject with at least 50% marks in Statistics and 40% in aggregate.
For Human Consciousness & Yogic Science: Candidate must be any Graduate with 50% marks in aggregate.
For Applied Genetics: Candidate must B.Sc. with at least 40% marks of all subjects and 50% marks in aggregate of all optional subjects with any three of the following subjects: Chemistry, Biochemistry, Botany, Applied Botany, Zoology, Applied Zoology, Environmental Science, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Genetics, Applied Genetics, and Sericulture.
For Zoology: Candidate must B.Sc. with 40% marks in aggregate with 50% marks in Zoology (related subject).
For Audiology & Speech-Language Pathology: Candidate must Bachelor’s Degree in Speech-Language and Hearing Sciences with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate.
For Audiology/ Speech-Language Pathology: Candidate must B.Sc. or BASLP with a minimum pass percentage.

Bangalore University M.Sc Scholarships

Bangalore University offers multiple scholarships to the meritorious and deserving students based on state government and UGC norms.

Government of India Post-Metric Scholarships are made available to Karnataka students belonging to the SC/ ST community. These candidates should also have an annual parental income less than or equal to INR 2.5 lakh.
Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor Merit Scholarship is offered to the students, who have secured 1st to 5th ranks in previous qualifying degree exams and belong to below the poverty line. The scholarship amount is INR 500 per month for 10 months in each year of the course.
Post-graduate Indira Gandhi Scholarship: The Scholarship of UGC is offered to the girl child who happens to be the only child or girl who is a twin daughter in the family. Such students can apply for scholarships only through the online scholarship portal of the University.
Minorities Scholarships: The candidates belonging to minorities (i.e., Muslims, Christians, Buddhists, Sikhs, Anglo-Indians, Jains) whose parents’ income is less than INR 44,500 are eligible for Encouragement Fund/ Fees reimbursement. This is administered by the Minorities Welfare Department.
Subject Scholarship: The University has granted one scholarship for each class for the students who scored the highest marks in the previous qualifying examination. These carry free-ship exempting them from payment of tuition and lab fees only, plus a sum of INR 600 is given.

To get your degree certificate, you have to visit BU, the Janana Barathi campus, near Kengeri. Go to the Parikhsha Bhavan, which is near the administrative block. Enquire about your certificate there. In there Parikhsha Bhavan, there is a marks card section, you should get your certificate there. The staff will help you with this.

The process of getting transcripts from Bangalore University is as follows. You can get the application form for transcripts on the official website - Bangalore University Transcript. On the website download the form - ‘Application Form for Issue of Various Examination Related Documents.’ If you studied at any colleges affiliated with BU, you need to get the form signed by your principal or dean of the college. If you studied directly under BU, you may need to get it signed by Registrar's office. On the website pay the transcript processing fees. Save the payment receipt as a PDF. For getting the transcripts you will need - Photocopy of all semester mark sheets, both sides, Photocopy of the degree certificate, Transcript Form, printout of transcript fee payment confirmation. Also, provide envelopes for each set of transcripts you need. Submit the application with documents at Pariksha Bhavan, Bangalore University. One person will collect them, verify and give you a handwritten acknowledgment. Keep the acknowledgment safely, you will need to while collecting the transcripts. Bangalore University offers good academics. Scoring the pass mark is easy. But you need to put in the effort to score higher marks. Courses such as Microbiology, Life Science, Biotechnology, Genetics, etc. are comparably easier to score good marks. The evaluation process is a little difficult for courses such as Physics, Biochemistry, Political Science, etc. Just solving the previous years' questions will not help you score good marks in these subjects. You need to complete the syllabus as well.

According to the reviews online, Bangalore University (BU) is an average university and is known to be deteriorating day by day. Students are irritated by their evaluation system. They tend to check the answer sheets carelessly. The faculty never completes the syllabus. The announcement of results is delayed quite often. The condition of the campus is deteriorating and no action is taken to solve it. There is a lack of core technical subjects in B.Com. It is suggested that you do not go for BU, as it won't provide learning and understanding courses, topics and the concepts. It will be better if you opt for VTU instead.

Therefore it is better to study everything and complete the syllabus and then practice from the last 5 years' question papers. Try taking the guidance provided by your teachers and also your seniors. You can opt for coaching classes also to prepare better. Divide your strengths and weaknesses and work on them accordingly. Lastly, practice from the previous years papers. This will familiarize you with the question pattern, the overall questions and give you an idea about the time limit.
