NIFTEM Admissions 2023 is open for MBA, MTech, and BTech programs. The Last date to apply for MBA and MTech program is June 20, 2023. Interested candidates can apply through niftem.ac.in.

NIFTEM (National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management) is a deemed university in Sonepat, Haryana. It is managed by India's Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MOFPI). The Government of India has conferred the status of "Institute of National Importance" on NIFTEM in the year 2021. According to the NIRF 2022 rankings, NIFTEM has been ranked 127 in the engineering category. The institute conducts education and research in the food technology and management field.

Academic programs offered at NIFTEM include BTech, MTech, MBA, and Ph.D. courses. Admission to all the courses is based on the national-level entrance examinations. The institute accepts JEE Main entrance scores for granting admission to the NIFTEM BTech program. Candidates with a JEE Main rank between 25600-57700 are eligible to apply for the BTech Admissions 2022. For admission to the NIFTEM MTech program, candidates must score a valid GATE score. Also, NIFTEM provides the 4-point scale food processing plants that serve as Business Incubation Centres for the food industry and training centers. NIFTEM Sonepat: Key Facts

  • Ranking: NIFTEM has been ranked 148 as per the NIRF ranking in 2021 for the engineering category, and 121 in 2020.
  • Scholarship: Two types of scholarships are provided to eligible students from NIFTEM. One is the NIFTEM Merit Scholarship, which is paid to the toppers of each year and consists of a fee waiver and a monthly stipend for 10 months. Another is the NIFTEM Merit Cum Means Scholarship, which is given based on the financial situation of the student. This financial aid also includes a stipend for the 10 months duration and a fee waiver.
  • Fees: NIFTEM charges about INR 1,72,000 per year for B.Tech., INR 1,533,000 for MTech, INR 1,16,000 for Ph.D., and INR 1,85,000 for MBA, excluding hostel and other facilities.
  • Placements 2022: NIFTEM students are placed in top enterprises such as ITC, Mother Dairy, Mondelez, Amul, Dabur, Britannia, and many more with an average salary package of INR 5,00,000 to 6,00,000 per annum.
  • Infrastructure: NIFTEM has world-class infrastructure facilities for its students with the best facilities. The infrastructure of the institute comprises boy and girl hostels, lecture centers, transportation, gym, cafeteria, auditorium, hospital/medical facilities, sports complex, and a library.

NIFTEM Sonepat: Admission Process

Admission to NIFTEM Sonepat is based on the scores obtained by the candidates in the national-level entrance exam. The application process at NIFTEM is initiated by filling up an online application form on the official website or by visiting the college campus. The final selection is based on the eligibility criteria and cutoffs released for the different entrance exam.

For BTech admissions, the institute accepts JEE Main cutoff ranks. Candidates who secure a valid rank in the JEE Main exam can complete their choice filling and seat locking through the JOAPS portal. Similarly, for MTech admissions, candidates need to qualify for the GATE entrance exam. Whereas, admission to the NIFTEM MBA program is based on the CAT/MAT or internal test for non-CAT/MAT students followed by GD/PI rounds.

NIFTEM Sonepat Courses and Fees

NIFTEM offers a total of four programs, including Ph.D. programs. The details regarding the duration, eligibility and fees are tabulated below for all NIFTEM courses.

Ph.D. Duration: 2 years Fees: INR 2,94,000 Eligibility: MTech/M.E/ Master’s Degree in a relevant discipline with at least 60% marks. Research Entrance Test (RET) followed by an Interview/Presentation conducted by NIFTEM itself

NIFTEM Sonepat Scholarship

NIFTEM Sonepat offers several scholarship schemes to its eligible students. Students enrolled across the BTech, MTech or MBA programs are awarded with merit based scholarships. Interested students must ensure that they meet the eligibility conditions set by the college to avail of the scholarships. The detailed information regarding the NIFTEM Sonepat scholarship are provided below.

  • Merit Scholarship: The scholarship is awarded to the top three students on merit in B.Tech. and one student on merit in each MTech program. The NIFTEM Merit scholarship is mostly paid during the second semester. Following that, only the toppers of each year are awarded scholarships for the following year and for the subsequent years. It comprises a 10 months tuition fee waiver and a fixed monthly income.
  • Merit-cum-Means Scholarship: The merit-cum-means scholarship is awarded to MTech students strictly on merit-cum-means basis to needy students whose family income is not more than INR 2,50,000. MCM scholarships are awarded to 5% of students or six students in MTech (one each in all the five streams). Along with a fixed monthly income, it comprises a 10 months tuition fee waiver.

NIFTEM is one of the best in food technology and entrepreneurship studies. It is a pretty good choice if you are interested in chemistry and biology.

  • There is an advantage since it's new the research projects are just starting and there are more funds and a well-backed faculty department and administration. 
  • NIFTEM is a place where you can express yourself through your unique ideas. There are lots of chances by doing some research work on the subject you are interested in.

One of my friends studied atNIFTEM . As per him, it is a very good institute and life is also very interesting, especially during the early college days as it was a new journey of his life. 

  • The professors here are very talented, well educated and very helpful in nature. 
  • They love to interact with the students and guide them with their studies and doubts. 
  • The course curriculum is also very good and well arranged. 
  • The basics are being taught during the first year and the core fundamentals of food are being taught from second year onwards. 
  • The laboratories are also good and well equipped with all the necessary facilities. 
  • The mess and hostel food is not so good but is hygenic. 
  • There are various kinds of sports and extracurricular activities being organised by the college where all the students can participate. 

Hence, life at NIFTEM will be very good. You will get the chance to develop and grow yourself in all aspects, from academics to extra curricular activities, but in the end it all depends on you on how you can use these opportunities to shape your future and career in a better way.

Among NIFTEM and CFTRI, the former is a better option. It is unique and the grooming and exposure that you will get at the campus are better than any other campus that offer food technology degrees. 

For a post-graduate degree, textbook learning may not be up to the mark. But if you are industry-oriented then, it is one of the best options for you. 

For the first two semesters, you will need to study around 8-9 subjects and do two visits under Village Adoption Programme. For the third semester, you will have to do a semester-long internship. You will be evaluated based on the projects that you handle during your internship. For your final semester, you can get your internship extended, get a PPO in a company, or come back to campus and take a research project. In recent years the highest CTC offered at the institute was 8-10 LPA.
