Placement Experience:

JNU has enough scope for placement however most students often opt for research rather than getting an early job. Placement-related info has been mentioned earlier. I am planning to do a master's in sociology from jnu itself because lately, the subject has been exciting me.

Remarks:

After my 12th board exams, I applied to some colleges (the University of Delhi and Jawahar Lal Nehru University). The University of Delhi offered a variety of courses but gave admission based on board exams. I scored 92.2% on my boards and was getting into many colleges, but I opted for JNU which gave admission based on JNUEE (entrance exam held by JNU, now under CUET). In my, College Reservation is given based on central government rules. Apart from the normal reservation, JNU provides 6 marks for students from backward districts across India. The admission process is largely flexible and smooth. Seniors and student organizations are quite helpful while the admission process and throughout college life. I would surely recommend JNU to all the students.

Placement Experience:

Jawaharlal Nehru University is primarily a research-focused university, and placements are not a significant part of its academic activities. However, many students from JNU pursue higher studies or research, while some opt for careers in various fields. Though there are a few offers which students can grab at the university campus by taking part in activities related to Placements.

Remarks:

The admission process at JNU is a multi-step process that requires candidates to complete various formalities. Candidates need to keep a check on the official website of JNU for the latest updates on the admission process. However, the admission process has changed nowadays. Students need to pass the cuet examination and further qualify for the JNU cut-in off-score to get admission.

Placement Experience:

Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) is primarily a research-oriented university, and therefore, most of the students pursue higher studies or research after completing their programs. However, JNU has a placement cell that facilitates campus recruitment for students who wish to join the corporate sector.

Remarks:

the admission process at JNU is highly competitive, and candidates need to prepare well for the entrance examination to secure admission to their desired program. The admission process of JNU differs for each program, but there are some common steps that candidates need to follow: Registration: Candidates need to register themselves on the JNU admission portal by providing their basic details, including name, email ID, phone number, etc. Application Form: After registration, candidates need to fill out the application form by providing their educational details, personal details, and other relevant information. Uploading Documents: Candidates need to upload scanned copies of their photograph, signature, and other required documents, such as mark sheets, certificates, etc. Cut-offs vary course-wise and year-wise.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I am doing my graduation in the Spanish language. The reason for taking this course was basically the popularity of this language. The center currently has about 170 students in total with 6 professors to guide them. All of the professors hold the degree of Ph.D. in the language and have got a good amount of experience even in foreign universities. The term papers were kind of hectic ( uneven schedule due to covid) in the first two years. But now everything is proper. The difficulty was average.

Remarks:

The eligibility for the course is one should have passed the 10+2 exam. The application form came in the month of Feb and was valid till March. The fee was minimal ( about 250 rupees). The form was available on the official website as well as on different educational sites. The exam also follows the reservation terms which I availed i.e. category reservation (SC). The process was quite smooth.

Placement Experience:

As the school of engineering in JNU is a bit new, we had our first placement this year. The placements were quite good according to the scenario. The average package was 8.5 lakhs, and the highest package was 25 lakhs. Not only this, but we have also been getting offers from outside (the off-campus placements).

Remarks:

Admission into Jawaharlal Nehru University, School of Engineering, Btech + Mtech course is through JEE Mains (Joint Entrance Examination). After the exam, you can opt for this college in the JOSAA counselling.

Placement Experience:

Campus placement is quite low because 1st placement occurs this year, and students become eligible for placement from 3rd year, The Highest package for students who placed was 36 LPA and the average is about 9-10, actual data will come at the end of placement percentage of students placed is low as many students change their course because there are lots of opportunities for another course, my plan is not clear because I am in 1st semester and I am still thinking about it.

Remarks:

I can tell you about admission to JNU in the BTech course. Admission to JNU occurs through JEE mains entrance test, and the eligibility is to clear the cutoff for JNU. The cutoff is different for 2 branches ( CSE, ECE). For the general category closing rank for CS is about 30k in 2023 and about 47k for ECE. Here reservation benefit is the same as in other NIT/ IIT colleges but one thing different is that there is no girl's reservation. The admission process is good and well organized but it is time taking.

In French, there are many career scopes. Faculty members are very helpful and intelligent and well taught. All faculty members have done their Ph.D. and their teaching methods are very interesting. I had 2 exams in each semester in each subject Mid sem and end sem.

Remarks:

Anyone can apply here after the 12th for bachelors from any background. It must be 45% marks in 12%. On the jnu site www.jnu.ac.in you can find the form. Application fees are varied for a course or subject wise it is according to cuet. Application dates are from the last week of February to the 30th of March. There are some reservations for sc, st, and obc and female candidates. I found the very easy and fast process for admission.

I have chosen a master's of science (physics). Here in the school of physical science 39 faculty are there of which 19 teach physics and 44 strength students. All faculties are highly qualified and did a lot of research in their field. The timing of term exams was about 6 months but due to covid it got disturbed. Exam level you can say above moderate

Remarks:

We gave CUET(pg) entrance test which consist of part A - General Aptitude and part B- domain subject and according to the score in part B we got shortlisted in the admission process. Here the top rankers of the test get a chance at admission.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I have chosen this course because I have an interest in historical studies and also graduated in history Hons. Here we have imparted research oriented studies. The faculties take care of every individual student. The medium of instruction and exam is only English. There is a tutorial method for the overall development of students. There is a 10:1 ratio of students and teachers. The Faculties here are very supportive and are mostly senior professors. The University is very strict with its academic calendar. There is very much academic pressure and not any substitute for study.

Remarks:

I have been admitted to this course through the CUET PG entrance exam. You have to have a graduation degree from any course for admission. NTA conducts the entrance exam every year. It will release the application in the last week of March and the exam will be held in June. Fees for the CUET PG exam will be 600 and after clearing the CUET exam you have to register for the university to where you want to take admitted, the fees for the registration depend on the university like in JNU it is 250. I have got benefits of OBC reservation in admission and for allotment of the hostel. NTA should improve the quality of the question paper for the entrance exam.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose the MSC physics course because I want to pursue it and go for research in physics. And jnu is one of the leading universities in India for both sciences and language courses. Faculty to student ratio is also good. They select only 40 students for the course. The faculties are top quality and they teach the topics in a very easy way and are the top researchers in their field and published many books. As our sem started out late so to manage according to the academic calendar semester duration was reduced to 2.5 months with one mid-sem and end-sem examination. It is not easy to score in the exams as faculties set a tough paper.

Remarks:

Admitted in jnu through the cuet pg held in Sept 2022 then we have to apply for different colleges by submitting various documents like 10 and 10+2 mark sheet graduation mark sheet and degree aadhar card electricity bill etc as proof of your residence etc. Then the university releases the merit list through which students are admitted and only a core subject score of cuet is considered that's the benefit of applying for jnu. As most universities admit students on the basis of both section A and section B of cuet.

Is it worth leaving a Master's in Public Policy at NLSIU to pursue an MA in Development and Labour Studies at JNU?

● Top Answer By Pratik Bahera on 06 Apr 23

Ans
If you have been contemplating leaving your Master’s in Public Policy program at NLSIU Bangalore to pursue an MA in Development and Labour Studies at JNU, it is not worth it. Here's why: Pursuing a Master’s in Public Policy from a reputed institute like NLSIU Bangalore opens doors to promising and lucrative career opportunities. In comparison, job prospects in Development and Labour Studies are relatively meager. A Master’s in Public Policy program helps you develop a wholesome understanding and a holistic idea of Policy Making. It also allows you to understand the broader spectrum of key issues related to policy-making. In contrast, the MA program in Development and Labour Studies at JNU may not provide a 360º approach towards understanding public issues or cultivate a knack for Policy Making, as this course is primarily focused on issues related to Labour and Trade Unions. There are several reputed Think Tanks in India that offer lucrative and respectful career opportunities to Public Policy Graduates. Some of them are - the Centre for Policy Research, NITI Aayog, Observer Research Foundation, Research Foundation for Governance in India, Institute of Peace and Conflict Studies, India Policy Foundation, Indian Institute for Advanced Studies, and so on. In conclusion, if you are already selected for pursuing a Master’s in Public Policy at NLSIU Bangalore, it is not worth leaving it to pursue an MA in Development and Labour Studies at JNU. Pursuing Public Policy at a reputed institute like NLSIU Bangalore will open doors to lucrative career opportunities and help you develop a wholesome understanding and a holistic idea of Policy Making.

JNU or DU which is a better university?

● Top Answer By Pratik Bahera on 16 May 22

Ans
JNU is a better option, especially for postgraduate degrees. JNU has a different aura altogether. The environment on campus is extremely accepting. You will meet people on campus who are intellectuals, readers, writers, and speakers. Simply being on JNU campus can be rewarding. It has a different culture entirely which motivates the holistic development of personality. JNU has an excellent faculty base.  In financial terms as well JNU is a better option. The course fees and hostel fees are lower compared to DU. As per JNU University course fees, an MSc degree costs around INR 692.

How is JNU for B.Tech?

● Top Answer By Sankalp Jain on 15 Jul 22

Ans
JNU offers decent B.Tech courses. The faculties are among the sharpest minds in the country. Most of the professors are alumni of IIT, NIT, and IISc. The reputation of JNU lives no space for doubt about the quality of academics.  The curriculum and syllabus followed are diversified and similar to top IITs and NITs. The syllabus also includes Humanities courses.  In the school, there is a lack of cultural events, but the institute is working on it. There are a few problems regarding the hostel accommodation, but nothing too big. The engineering school is located in a secluded part of the campus.

I have a friend who did his master’s from JNU and he was able to give some insight regarding the entrance test for MA Sociology.  In the entrance examination, there will be questions from out of the syllabus. You may be asked to give a sociological interpretation of the current situation, event, etc. So, stay updated with contemporary social issues. Here is a list of sections from where you can expect questions. Sociological Thought: Marx, Durkheim. Weber, Parsons, Spencer, Comte, etc. Research Methodology and techniques Indian Society: Poverty, Family, Kinship, etc. Society and polity Society and economy Technology Caste and class system Concepts like Globalization, Modernization, Sanskritization, and Localization. Go through the list of topics assisted to you and make sure you prepare them thoroughly. As you can see the majority of the questions are from the syllabus itself.

How do you prepare for the JNU entrance exam for BA hons in foreign languages?

● Top Answer By Sayla Ojha on 30 Sept 21

Ans
One of my friends was selected for BA French at JNU a few years back and here are his tips on how to do well in the entrance exam.  G.K: You should incorporate every little detail from Arts, Literature, Drama, Culture, Dress, Cuisines, Geography, Nobel Laureates, and more to become familiar with the language you have pursued. Reasoning Skills: You should be proficient in solving several coding-decoding problems, especially alphabetical orders, blood relations, syllogisms, direction, and ranking tests. English: It is equally important to be as strong in English as you are in other subjects. Various course areas, like the Basic grammatical Rules, Vocabularies, Reading Comprehension, and Passages should be on the tip of your tongue. For best results, you should follow the editorial and articles published in “The Hindu.”  English includes a major marking scheme for all the other sections. Now, since an essay alone contains a scheme of about 20-30 marks, it is best that you practice writing ingeniously without using heavy vocabulary. JNU appreciates the artistry of innovation and it is best to keep their tastes intact. Simplicity is encouraged along the lines of critical thinking, at least more than sophisticated word formations.  It is best to keep your thoughts perfectly aligned with the subject area, and not outside of it.

Ques

How do I get through the M A English JNU entrance examination?

● Top Answer By Anjali Verma on 29 Nov 22

Ans
JNU allows you to enroll in any liberal arts course if you pass the entrance exam, regardless of your background. Around 2000 people apply for 30 M.A. English seats, and then there are reservations, so competition is fierce. Because you will be competing against people with English Hons backgrounds, you will need to become acquainted with the history and movements of English Literature. It is about replicating the language and comprehending the concept. Begin with a comprehensive history of English literature. Begin with Chaucer but don't spend too much time on him or the early Elizabethan period. Read as many Shakespearean plays as you can and try to grasp what he is saying about how his works are relevant in terms of literary merit and philosophy. Continue on to Renaissance, studying it not only as an English literary movement but also as a philosophical concept of humanism and its aesthetics.  Then go to the Jacobean period and Milton, and read what you can without wasting too much time. Examine the age of reason and the 18th century in a similar, albeit more detailed, manner.  Continue on to Romanticism and read as much as you can of Keats, Shelly, Coleridge, and others, as well as the history of the movement.  Apart from reading the history, you should look at the Victorian era and read some Tennyson and a Dickens novel or two. Remember that as you approach modernism, postmodernism, and postcolonialism, your scrutiny of them should increase because the emphasis at JNU is on what is relevant, and postcolonial theories are very important in this context. You should be able to analyze a Shakespearean play from a postcolonial perspective. A knowledge of English history after 1400 would also be beneficial. Then read some American literature. Spend some time reading Indian English Literature, and don't stop at the 1980s. Essentially go to and read poetry at random. Read black American, Australian, and Indian poets, and you might get a read poem or an easier one. Write about how you feel about a specific piece of poetry to practice interpretation. When it comes to books, simply read any good book that covers the history of EL from ancient times to the present. Last but not least, be thorough with literary terms, history, and theory, at least on a factual level if not in detail. The emphasis at JNU is always on how you can represent an idea in an original way while also possessing your own mind. Try to write to develop a love of the language, appreciate the works, and express yourself. Many questions are posed with the intention of eliciting your personal opinion on them. you should be interested in related topics such as politics and history.
