Course Description

AIIMS Delhi PhD Admissions 2023 will open soon for July session. Admission to the program is based on the Ph.D. entrance exam conducted by the institute. The PhD entrance exam for admission to AIIMS Delhi PhD program will be held on July 7, 2023. The results for the exam will be released on July 12, 2023. A Departmental Assessment of qualified conducted will be conducted soon after the results. The final result based on will be released soon after the completion of Departmental Assessment.

All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi offers a Doctorate in Philosophy in Medicine and Allied Sciences. The institute offers Ph.D. programs under 34 departments. Fellowship to the students is provided. However, there are only fewer seats available for fellowship. Other candidates can take the project under their own fellowship offered by the government.

The duration of the course is considered from the date of registration to the submission of the thesis. The minimum duration for the submission of a thesis is three years. The maximum duration can be extended up to 5 years after which written permission from Dean is required for a further extension of 6 months. Failing to submit a thesis within the stipulated time will lead to the cancellation of candidature.

AIIMS Delhi Ph.D. Eligibility Criteria

The Doctor of Philosophy is provided to the candidates pursuing any of the below-mentioned qualifications:

Candidates who have completed MBBS/BDS with 55% or MD/MS/MDS/DM/M.Ch in the subjects concerned from the institutes recognized by The Medical Council of India.

Candidates completed M.sc in Nursing with an aggregate of 55 percent are eligible for the Ph.D. program in the specialty of Nursing at the AIIMS institute.

Candidates from Non-Medical background (M.Tech/BAMS/ M.sc) have to score at least 60% aggregate in the last qualifying examination. The non-medical candidates must have appeared for any of these National Entrance exams in the last two years- Joint CSIR-UGC NET, ICMR-JRF, ICMR-SRF, DBT-JRF, GATE, NBHM Screening test and INSPIRE Fellowship.

Admission into the Ph.D. program is based on the entrance exam conducted by the Institute.

How to Apply?

The steps for doing registration are:

Open the official website of AIIMS, New Delhi.
On the Home page, visit the section of ‘Academic Courses’.
Under the registration section, click on the Ph.D. program.
Under ‘New Registration’, read all the mentioned guidelines.
Keep the registration ID and password details for future reference.
Re-login and complete all the steps of the registration process.
Make payment via Debit/Credit card/ Internet Banking.
Upload the image and signature and fill in all the other details.
Print the registration form for further references.

AIIMS Delhi Ph.D. Entrance Exam

The entrance exam is conducted in three stages. Candidates who manage to score at least 50% marks are eligible for admission. The examination is conducted via online (CBT) mode.

Candidates qualifying the stage I need to undergo the Departmental Assessment. Students must upload their self-attested documents/certificates in regards to Date of Birth, Educational Qualification, Category, etc.

The counseling for the candidates will be done on the basis of merit obtained by the candidate. The candidate who has opted for Own Fellowship will be allowed to appear for seats both of OF and FA seats.

Candidates need to join the program as per the stipulated time. Failure to do so will result in the candidature of the applicant.

AIIMS Delhi Ph.D. Stipend

AIIMS offers no such direct placements to campus students. However, the institute has started providing internships to the students in various hospitals and even in AIIMS also. The stipend varies according to the department. Some departments do not pay any stipend and have a process of registration and fee payment for the internship program. However, in some courses, the stipend provided is INR 23500.

Ques. Does a candidate need to submit original certificates for the admission process in AIIMS?

Ans. A candidate needs to deposit or show his/her original certificates and documents required at the admission time. Failing to do so may result in termination of the seat.

Ques. Do AIIMS has any reservation criteria?

Ans. AIIMS follows reservation policy as per the undergoing policies of the Government of India. Candidates need to show valid proof to avail the reservation category.

Ques. Can sponsor or International students apply for the AIIMS Ph.D. program?

Ans. Sponsored and International students are very well eligible to get admission into the Ph.D. program. The candidates need to submit the sponsorship certificate and NOC from the Indian Government.

Ques. Does a candidate need to submit the application form in the AIIMS department?

Ans. There is no need for a candidate to submit the application form in the department. The candidate just needs to fill the online application form and can sit for the entrance exams.

Ques. Can program fees be paid via Demand Draft IN AIIMS?

Ans. Ph.D. course fees need to be submitted via online mode only through Netbanking/Credit Card/ Debit Card. Demand Draft is not accepted as a mode of payment for the AIIMS Ph.D. program.

My friend got AIIMS Delhi in the second counseling, but by that time she had settled in MAMC and made friends. The 50% DU quota for PG is another way. AIIMS is AIIMS, so there's no comparison.

The first day he got to know that he will be studying at AIIMS Delhi was quite overwhelming for him. He got many calls from his family and friends. He also received a video call from four of his seniors who seemed scary at that time but after his freshers, they will become his favorite seniors. When he reached the AIIMS campus, the first thing that he wanted to do was stand in front of the garden which he had thought of for about two years and get a picture clicked. But he ended up getting confused between gate number one and gate number two and entered through gate 3. It’s better if you know a few seniors beforehand, they might take you to the hostel and your room, and then it becomes an interactive experience. On the first day of CREST, his parents made sure he was settled in the hostel. Then the first thing of the day was the director‘s address in the Dr. Ramalinga Swamy board room. As the day progressed, he got to meet various people. Some of them became his best friends in a month. After this, he was taken to the campus and the hospital. He also visited CRHSP Ballabgarh the next day which is the sub-district Hospital under AIIMS where students are posted during their third years and internships. They also visited a PHC in Chains which is a village posting after the internship. This was his initial experience at AIIMS.
