The candidates are no longer given admission based on the AIIMS entrance exam and they are required to appear for NEET to be eligible for M.B.B.S. admission.

The NEET percentile cutoff is 50 for General candidates, 45 for General-PwD candidates, and 40 for SC/ ST/ OBC candidates. The AIIMS MBBS NEET Cut off 2023 hasn’t been released yet so I am mentioning last year's cutoff for a slight idea of the same.

Here are some tips that can help you prepare better AIIMS Delhi.

  • Physics - Follow NCERT books for Physics. Solve previous years' questions. The questions are not too difficult. Most MCQs are lengthy and calculative. Learn the shortcuts to solve questions. Solving JEE Mains questions can help. Electrodynamics, Magnetism, Modern Physics, EM, and Optics should be your main target.
  • For Inorganic Chemistry, NCERT books are enough. Go through each and every detail thoroughly. For the Organic section, practice as much as you can. Physical section questions aren’t too difficult. If you have a good understanding of the basics, you can solve the questions easily.
  • For Biology, go through the NCERT books and coaching modules. It should be enough.
  • The GK/logic section is easy. You don’t need to worry about it much.

Try to take a good number of mocks.

The definition of ragging can be different for different people. Post-2014, ragging has been changed to interaction. These types of interactions exist in all colleges like NIT, IIT, or AIIMS.

But unlike most of the colleges, in AIIMS Delhi, you have the option to not participate in it. After the Supreme Court‘s order, there is no physical abuse and ragging in most of the medical colleges.

Some kind of trolling takes place on social media and if you are a regular social media person, you know that it is very common and cannot be considered as ragging. There are three types of medical colleges in India.

State Medical Colleges- In these types of colleges, ragging goes beyond interaction. For example, in Bihar, you have to salute your seniors and follow a dress code like short hair, formal dress, etc.

AFMC- It is one of the most disciplined colleges in the country. There is no ragging here. The campus is good and seniors are even better and carry out friendly interaction. You might have to call your senior’s sir/ma’am but everyone does it.

AIIMS- We all know that AIIMS Delhi is one of the most prestigious colleges in India. Situations in AIIMS Bhubaneswar, Bhopal, and Jodhpur are more or less the same. There is no ragging and only interaction. Interacting with your seniors in AIIMS just means giving them your introduction for the first time in a few months. Knowing your seniors also helps you in your future as they help you in your studies especially during last-minute preparations.

It is important to keep in mind that in AIIMS Delhi, you will not be forced to do anything.

I have a friend from AIIMS, New Delhi, and here are some snippets of his experience from his initial days.

  • The first day he got to know that he will be studying at AIIMS Delhi was quite overwhelming for him. He got many calls from his family and friends. He also received a video call from four of his seniors who seemed scary at that time but after his freshers, they will become his favorite seniors.
  • When he reached the AIIMS campus, the first thing that he wanted to do was stand in front of the garden which he had thought of for about two years and get a picture clicked. But he ended up getting confused between gate number one and gate number two and entered through gate 3. It’s better if you know a few seniors beforehand, they might take you to the hostel and your room, and then it becomes an interactive experience.
  • On the first day of CREST, his parents made sure he was settled in the hostel. Then the first thing of the day was the director‘s address in the Dr. Ramalinga Swamy board room. As the day progressed, he got to meet various people. Some of them became his best friends in a month. After this, he was taken to the campus and the hospital. He also visited CRHSP Ballabgarh the next day which is the sub-district Hospital under AIIMS where students are posted during their third years and internships. They also visited a PHC in Chains which is a village posting after the internship.

This was his initial experience at AIIMS.
