Ques

Is IIT Guwahati becoming the next IIT Kanpur?

● Top Answer By Saugata Nayak on 30 Mar 23

Ans
Both IIT Guwahati and IIT Kanpur are well-respected institutions, known for their high-quality education and research. Comparing the two is already justified and saying that one institution is becoming the next of the other is more so. Both institutions have their strengths and areas of expertise. Yet, if I was to choose one I would have always gone for IIT Kanpur.  Some points that favor my preference are as follows: The quality of coursework at IIT Kanpur is extremely challenging and will keep you on your toes always. It offers the best quality of education and you will learn much more than other IITs if you are regular to classes and take your academics seriously, The usual schedule of a student at IIT Kanpur is not always jammed, unlike the general opinion. The timings of the clubs align with the classes and you can take out time for both if you are good at managing your time well. Another challenging aspect of IIT Kanpur is its tough grading system, (10,8,6,4..) under which anything below 10 is 8. Thus you are under tremendous pressure to maintain your CGPA and is enough of a motivating factor. Overall, even if Guwahati was to be compared to IIT Kanpur, it still has a long way to go until it becomes the next IIT Kanpur.

Ques

Should I take IIT Gandhinagar CSE or IIT Guwahati ECE?

● Top Answer By Akash Sinha on 22 Jun 22

Ans
You should take IIT Gandhinagar CSE. It is one of the fastest-growing IIT, and offers good opportunities for placements and internships. According to the placement highlights of IIT Gandhinagar, each year around 80% of students get placed from CSE. The average CTC offered is around INR 18 LPA. While the highest CTC goes up to INR 40 LPA. Adani, Goldman Sachs, Infosys, Tata are some of the major recruiters for the CSE branch.

Ques

Which is the best option, Mathematics, and Computing at IIT Guwahati, CSE at IIIT Hyderabad, or CSE at BITS Pilani?

● Top Answer By Shubhangi Dutt on 04 May 21

Ans
CSE at IIIT Hyderabad is so far the best possible program one can aspire for in India in the software industry. It’s better than IIT-B CSE and hence, far better than BITS Pilani or IITG CSE.  IIIT Hyderabad IIIT Hyderabad has initiated a dedicated software inclined course structure right from the first year. It is a course highly inclined towards academics.  The institute completely focuses on preparing software experts called CODERS.  It has highly active coding clubs, excellent coding culture, and the highest average package among the above-mentioned colleges. However, it lacks a lot in the overall development due to the poor campus life. You have to leave your campus life behind if you are willing to be extremely academic. BITS Pilani It has a great course structure along with great campus life. You will be very happy with the coding culture over there.  The institute enjoys years of alumni outreach.  0% attendance can sometimes put forward a very lenient attitude of your and might even affect the coming phases of your life. IITG MnC This branch offers a BTech degree and has a course with 45-50% Maths, 45% CS and some finance courses.  The campus life in IITG is definitely amazing and the weather is pleasant. However, the coding culture is lacking as compared to the other two.  The location and young alumni network is a major factor you should consider. Considering all pointers mentioned above, it is clear that CSE at IIIT Hyderabad will be a best suited option for you.

Ques

Which one is better for MTech programmes in ECE, NIT Surathkal or IIT Guwahati?

● Top Answer By Pratik Sharma on 20 Mar 23

Ans
IIT Guwahati is one of the top engineering institutions in India and has a well-established ECE program with a strong focus on research. The institution has state-of-the-art facilities and offers many opportunities for collaboration and networking with other leading institutions in India and around the world. Both NIT Surathkal and IIT Guwahati are excellent choices for pursuing an MTech program in ECE. You should consider your personal preferences, career goals, and research interests when making a decision between the two. It's also recommended to visit the campuses, speak to current students and alumni, and explore the curriculum and research opportunities to make an informed decision.  However, when considering the choice between IIT Guwahati and NIT Surathkal for MTech programs in ECE, it is important to note that while both institutions offer excellent programs, the brand and reputation of IITs are highly valued by companies. Therefore, the tag of IIT may carry more weight in the eyes of potential employers.

Ques

Which institute is better for CSE, BITS Pilani, IIT Guwahati or IIT BHU?

● Top Answer By Nived Tripathi on 20 Mar 23

Ans
When it comes to Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) programs, IIIT Hyderabad is undoubtedly one of the best options available. The study environment and coding culture at IIIT Hyderabad are unmatched, making it a great choice for students interested in CSE. However, if you are looking for a more well-rounded college experience that includes a relaxed and enjoyable campus life, an older IIT may be a better choice for you. While IIIT Hyderabad excels in academics, it may not provide the same level of student life experience as an IIT. When deciding between colleges, it is important to consider all aspects of the institution, not just academics. For example, BITS Pilani is an excellent college in all aspects, but if you have the option of getting into an older IIT such as IIT Guwahati, it may be a better choice for you. Similarly, when choosing between BHU and IIT Guwahati, it is advisable to choose IIT Guwahati. While BHU has recently been given the IIT tag, IIT Guwahati is now being compared to older IITs and is even beating some of them in various rankings. Finally, if you do not get admission into CSE with a rank of 803, Mathematics and Computing (MnC) is always an option. In fact, MnC is a safer option with better placement opportunities at IIT Guwahati. So, you can always consider MnC if you don't get CSE.

Ques

Which one should I join: the NIT Surathkal's M.Tech in CSE or the IIT Guwahati's M.Tech in theoretical computer science?

● Top Answer By Sushmita Guha on 28 Jun 21

Ans
Getting a master’s degree in Computer Science and Engineering from one of the Indian Universities can feel like being stuck in a place forever. If you do not take IISc and the top IITs, no other University or college in India provides a good quality program for Master’s in Computer Science. NIT Surathkal is popular for its B.Tech in CSE but not for the Master’s program that the college has to offer. It would be advised for you to prefer IIT Guwahati any day since it has been ranked among the Top 8 IITs in the country. Several of the recent IITs have been created to serve the purposes of the states. These IITs are managed by one of the top 5 IITs in India. Most candidates would certainly choose IIT Guwahati over NIT Surathkal for an M.Tech program. Assuming you are studying M.Tech to learn, not to get a job then you should definitely prefer IIT Guwahati over NIT Surathkal. If you want a job, there are several more ways to do that. If you are skilled enough to get admission at IIT Guwahati then you can have a decent job in hand in the future. If you want to pursue a Master’s program and learn, you would be way ahead in IIT Guwahati than in NIT Surathkal.

Ques

Is BITS Pilani "Pilani campus" better than IIT Roorkee or IIT Guwahati?

● Top Answer By Shivam Mahera on 18 Jul 22

Ans
BITS Pilani and IIT Roorkee are on the same category, while IIT Guwahati ranks below these institutes. If you are a CSE enthusiast, BITS Pilani will be the best option among these. Top MNCs like Google, Amazon, Goldman Sachs, etc. visit the campus placement to recruit. The recent highlights of BITS Pilani placements, show the average CTC for CSE to be around INR 18 LPA.  If you aren’t sure about your branch preference, choosing IIT Roorkee will be better. The IIT Tag can be quite beneficial. For branches like Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, etc. usually IIT students have better technical knowledge compared to BITS students.  BITS Pilani offers an enviable campus experience. Students are given the freedom to study and explore anything they want.
