I had taken the admission in Miranda House through Cuet Ug entrance exam. I had scored around 780/800 from OBC category and got it it the first round of cutoffs as my first preference. First I had filled the application form from the cuet nta website and the fee was around 700 for 5 subjects. The examination level was moderate. There is need of improvement in the admission process there should be proper guidelines of preference list making cause many students make mistakes in that and lose their dream college and prefered course.
I'm pursuing Political Science Hons at Miranda House College and it was my first preference. I had interest in this subject from school times and I had always scores well in this subject. Since PSIR is one of the popular and trending optionals for upsc I had opted for this course and it's contemporary nature makes it relevant in day to life too. The exams are held semester wise on 6 months. There is need of improvement in the examination pattern. Instead of giving questions from pyqs only they should ask for some practical and new contemporary questions.
The year wise fees for Political Science Hons in Miranda House is around 15k. Apart from this we also have to pay examination fee each semester of around 1300 RS. There's is difference of 50RS in examination fees of General and OBC students. The course fee has increased due to NEPs additional courses earlier it used to be around 10k. But over-all it's affordable in regards to the department, faculty and facilities.
The name of the annual fest of Miranda House is 'Tempest' which is usually held in March-April. The books regarding the curriculum are mostly available in the library but with limited copies. The classrooms are spacious, well ventilated and with projectors in all rooms but not all rooms are air conditioned. And regarding extracurricular activities I believe the societies of Miranda House are one of the best in Delhi University give diverse and wide range of exposure and opportunity to students for their personal growth. Most impactful and active societies are NSS, NCC and NSO apart from them Tanz, Mridang, Spicmacay, Anukruti, Eng Debsoc, Hindi Debsoc, etc are also there very active.
The faculty in Miranda House College is quite good and especially for my course cause I'm studying it so I can say that. There are sections divided in the class of around 50 students out of which Tut classes are arranged with only 15-20 students to clear their doubts weekly. Also the professors are approachable on having doubts students do ask questions individually after the class and professors are patient enough to answer or guide them all.
There are placement cell in our college that is really active but that also depends from course to course not all The courses have placements. But recently internship/research work/community outreach options have been given to us instead of SEC.
Placement it's all depends upon u how much u r doing hardwork. We know that not everyone get placements there will be some students who will get placements so count yourself in those students u will definitely get placements and try doing different activities during your college like internships etc . Definitely u will get placements
As my course is SOCIOLOGY HONOURS this course needs a lot of field work which is not properly conducted by the college and i think that should be changed but still because of the professors it becomes easy to make the most out of the disciplines that you are choosing.
Studying Philosophy at Kamala Nehru College is great for learning, but it doesn't lead to a job right after graduation. It's perfect for those who want to study further or pursue a career they're passionate about. Scope for improvement: - Help students explore career options - Provide internships for practical experience - Connect students with professionals in related fields
There are a large amount of course you can choose from in the school of open learning. I personally chose English honours as I was interested in the literature and mythological stories. The curriculum doesn't give you any exposure as there are classes only in Sundays so all the weekend you're on your own. I would suggest to improve the availability of the teachers and fix the teacher to students ratio
