If you are considering pursuing engineering and wondering which branch to choose, there are some important things you should keep in mind while making a decision. Here are some key points to consider:

  • If earning a hefty package from a job is your dream, it's better not to opt for Civil engineering. While there is some scope for growth in this field, the construction industry in India is not yet mature enough to offer salaries comparable to those in the software industry. Managers in the software industry often earn the same amount as director-level employees in the construction industry.
  • While you may think that there is less competition in Civil engineering, this is not necessarily the case. Every year, a large number of Civil engineers graduate from colleges all over India, saturating the construction industry. This means that there is a lot of competition for jobs in this field.
  • If you have a family business in construction or plan to start one in the future, then pursuing Civil engineering may be a good option for you. In this case, it may be helpful to join a nearby college and get involved in construction activities simultaneously with your studies. This will give you practical experience and help you gain a better understanding of the industry.
  • Keep in mind that the quality of your college matters initially, but after a few years, your experience and skills will be more important. So, even if you attend a lesser-known college, you can still succeed in the field if you have the right skills and experience.

If you are still interested in pursuing Civil engineering despite the challenges, then you may want to consider NIT Warangal. According to the author of the original statement, this institution is better than NIT Surathkal. However, keep in mind that this is a subjective opinion and you should do your own research before making a decision.

One of my friends pursued BTech Civil Engineering from NIT Warangal. NITW was reported to be one of the best for Civil Engineering among all the NITs and IITs in India by most of the students. Thus it can be said that Civil engineering at NIT Warangal is better than NIT Surathkal.

Here are some of the observations about NIT Warangal that you should know.

  • The professors and lecturers who completed their Masters and PhDs from some of the best colleges are at the retiring age now.
  • If you are really interested in the Civil branch and want a college with a brand value then NIT Warangal is a perfect choice. As for academics, for engineering degrees college will have very little contribution and you have to work on your own. This is true for almost every engineering college.
  • If you are only concerned about the brand value and not the course, then any NIT would do a good option. for them.
  • If you have no such interest in the Civil branch then it will be better to look for other branches.

If you want to opt for Civil engineering then you should go for NIT Warangal as this is one of the best colleges for Civil.
