In the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) class 10 results announced on July 15, 2020, the government schools of Delhi have shown an upscale improvement of 11 percent. From 71.6% in 2019 to an upgrade of 82.61% this year.

Contrarily, the private schools' pass percentage has dropped from 93.18% in 2019 to 90.19% this year.

If we just talk about the Delhi region, the pass percentage in private schools has increased from 80.97% in 2019 to 85.86% this year. Despite an upscale movement, the government schools in Delhi still couldn't subdue the private schools in the CBSE Class 10 results 2020.

Ever Since 2018, when CBSE reintroduced the class 10 board exams as compulsory, the Delhi government schools have thrawk their highest this year with 82.61%. The Delhi government schools' past track record reveals 68.9% in 2017-18 and 71.6% in 2018-19 in CBSE class 10 results.

The principal of School of Excellence (SoE) in Kalkaji, Mohammad Shariq said, "The school had extended extra help to students. We held special counselling sessions for parents whose students were slow learners and helped their children study at home. Extra classes were also provided in the winter vacations." The schools secured the highest percentage of 95.6% among all Delhi government schools.

The principal of Mount Abu Public School in Rohini, Jyoti Arora said that the possible reason for the improvement in the pass percentage of government schools is the change in evaluation policy adopted by CBSE in North-East Delhi, where the number of government schools is more than the private schools.

Earlier in February, CBSE had cancelled the exams of four subjects in North-East Delhi due to the communal riots. Later CBSE announced to conduct the exams in July, which couldn't take place again due to the pandemic outbreak.

The students were then evaluated on the basis of a revised assessment scheme formulated by CBSE wherein the average marks secured in best-performing subjects were awarded in the subjects that didn't happen.

This year one of the changes introduced was the addition of 25% objective type questions in all the subjects. To which Bluebells International school, Kailash Colony principal expressed that change in exam pattern might have led to a slight drop in private schools' performance.
