New Delhi: Hindu College alumnus Raj Bhargava has donated INR 1 crore to the scholarship foundation of the college. In the inaugural year, five undergraduate students won the scholarship.
Hindu College is offering the scholarship which is renewable. The scholarship foundation will motivate students to perform with great opportunities. It will also allow the students to shape a holistic personality.
Candidates are selected for the scholarship based on their performance in the college-wise written Merit Assessment Test (MAT). Shortlisted candidates are then reviewed by an expert committee.
According to a college report, “Raj Bhargava (IAS retired), former chief secretary, Home Affairs, Government of India and an illustrious alumnus of Hindu College recently returned to the campus with a corpus fund of Rs 1 crore for a scholarship foundation for social sciences at the undergraduate level."
Ayush Singh Rajpoot (History) and Gavish Lohat (Political Science) were two winners who received prize money of INR 75,000 and a tablet device each. Divya (History) and Vismay Vairagi (Economics), were two runners-up, who have received laptops each. In addition, a fifth student was also awarded a tablet device in recognition of his outstanding performance.
