Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) created a new Guinness World Record on October 14, 2020, for having 13,00 as active users enrolling in an online Artificial Intelligence (AI) lesson in only 24 hours. 

CBSE and Intel achieved a new Guinness World Records title after having more than 13,000 students of classes 8 and above to take the online lesson from October 13, 2020, to October 14, 2020. Intel and CBSE jointly conducted the online lecture under the current AI for Youth Virtual Symposium course. 

Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’, The Education Minister of India, posted on Twitter to congratulate the CBSE on this massive success. 

The AI for youth Symposium is a crucial part of the 2020 Virtual Summit held from October 12, 2020, to October 16, 2020, across the country. The summit has been an initiative by Intel with support from industry, academia, and government. 

Shweta Khurana, The Director- APJ, Global Partnerships and Initiatives at Intel, shared her views on this situation that Intel continues to work with the ongoing ecosystem to develop and provide AI advantages.

Challenges faced by CBSE and Intel

Shweta Khurana further informed that the company’s tie-up with CBSE had faced many challenges while nurturing the AI-acceptance across the country.

These challenges include the following; 

  • AI-based curriculum for students
  • Setting up AI-specific skill labs in the country 
  • Providing skill-facilitators to the CBSE schools 

Apart from this, the AI for Youth Virtual Symposium will also benefit students and teachers to get knowledge from local and global AI-based experts and learning innovations and technology.

Biswajit Saha, Director, Training and Skill Education CBSE, also praised CBSE and Intel for their hard work in the AI for Youth programme to implement appropriate AI-based skillset and mindset among students and achieving this through their constant engagement.

The AI for Youth Symposium has given a chance to students studying in standards 8 and above, along with their respective school teachers and principals, to take part in the program. 

During the course, participants would have the facility to access various sessions with national as well as international experts. 

Moreover, the course helps them to learn a different perspective on AI’s transformational effects of artificial intelligence, building digital readiness, and making the latest technologies available to all.

The programme consists of interactive sessions, live webinars, and taking part in experimental zones.
