CBSE Exam 2021 is approaching for classes X and XII, for which AI, Mirrors, and parents may have to act as exam invigilators for online pre-board exams. Schools are adopting several measures to conduct online pre-board exams from the 3rd week of December 2020. 

As CBSE Board Exams for Class XII and Class X are ahead, many of the CBSE schools have introduced their own AI-based platforms to conduct pre-board exams in online mode after 2nd week of December 2020. 

Recently, the CBSE board declared that pre-board exams would be held offline. However, there are also a few chances that board exams may be conducted online. For this, schools are trying to ensure that students may not adopt any unfair means while taking exams.

Therefore, schools have requested parents of their wards to be their exam invigilators. Also, few of the schools have taken it forward by asking students to keep a mirror behind them while writing their papers so that images can be captured from various angles.

Earlier, schools in Haryana were reopened in November, but soon it was ordered to be closed as many students were found infected. It was then notified that the schools will resume physical classes from December 10, however, the Directorate of Education has pleaded government to let the schools remain shut till the end of this year.

Bhism Bhardwaj, President, Gurgaon Sahodaya, an association of schools in the district, said that they had planned to conduct the pre-board exams offline in small batches. 

However, with the day-to-day circumstances in view of COVID-19 pandemic, now the authorities have decided to conduct the exams online for 80 marks. Thus, students must be given the opportunity of writing the entire paper, but it must also be easy for them.

The principal of DAV Public school, Sector 49, Charu Maini said that the school has developed an AI-based platform that will ensure smooth monitoring and assistance of the students. 

It will take pictures and create a time-lapse video of each examinee, which will be shared with the concerned teacher. This technology will let the teachers know if the students are asking for any external help or looking away from the test-screen, she added. 

The platform has additional features including randomization of the questions, navigation controls, image proctoring, auto-selections, and windows which are inbuilt to ensure a seamless exam process. 

Firstly, MCQs will be conducted within the time frame followed by the subjective part. After the completion, the students have to send a pdf of their writing to the teachers for further evaluation, Maini said. 

Sudha Goyal, Principal of Scottish High International School said that they'll also be using a similar kind of technology to conduct the pre-board exams. However, schools have also intimated students to keep their webcams and encouraged them to use 2 devices during the exam, one to download the questions and others that will be monitoring them.

On the other hand, Haryana School Sikshan Sangathan, State President, Yashpal Yadav said that the students of HBSE are waiting for further instructions to conduct the pre-board exams. 

He said that they've decided to conduct the exams virtually in December, however, there will be a second round of pre-board exams that will be held offline. If the students hesitate to keep their cameras on for two and a half hours long, the schools cannot force, that's why they have also decided to hold oral exams for an honest assessment.
