CBSE Board Exam 2023: Term-wise Exams Scrapped For Classes 10, 12

The curriculum released for sessions 2022-23 states that there will be no term-wise examination from the next session. The decision to eliminate term-wise exams has been made as per the feedback received from stakeholders and students.

Earlier, due to the COVID-19 pandemic situation in the country, the board decided to commence exams for class 10th and class 12th students in two terms. The term 1 exam covers the 50% syllabus and term 2 covers the remaining 50%.

Hence, CBSE would be left with only 1 exam at the end of the session to prepare results. In 2021, the board had even followed an alternative assessment scheme since exams were cancelled amid the second wave of COVID-19.

Talking about the changes, CBSE said, “Considering the feedback of stakeholders and other prevailing conditions, the Board will conduct the annual scheme of assessment at the end of the Academic Session 2022-23 and the curriculum has been designed accordingly.”

“Sample question papers with detailed design of the Question Paper will be made available on CBSE’s website in due course of time,” the circular added.

As per the curriculum released, CBSE schools will teach subjects to students with the help of various teaching-learning strategies mentioned in the curriculum, which include Art-Integrated Education, Experiential Learning, Pedagogical Plans, etc.

Schools are further directed to conduct educational sessions with all faculty members and teachers on how topics and syllabus will be covered in accordance with CBSE Syllabus 2022 release.
