January 02, 2021: Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Board Exam 2021 dates were announced by the Education Minister on December 31, 2020. The exams have been scheduled to begin on May 4, 2021. Students and teachers express relief at the delay.

CBSE Board Exam 2021 Dates, which was announced by Education Minister Ramesh ‘Nishank’ Pokhriyal on December 31, 2020, provides students and teachers adequate time to prepare for the exams. 

Referring to the exam schedule release, Dr Madhav Deo Saraswat, Principal of The Scindia School said, “With the overall COVID cases in the country coming down and the vaccine in the near horizon, the four months that we have before the exam begins will make it safer for students and teachers to participate in the examination process.”

He further added, “Our boys at Scindia School are already in the process of preparing for the Boards!

Ms Alka Kapur, Principal Modern Public School, Shalimar Bagh referred to these dates as “student-friendly.” She points out that the dates help ease the pressure caused by the pandemic on students, giving them more time to prepare for the exams. 

Additionally, students who are to appear for CBSE Class 10 and Class 12 exams will have more time to appear for physical exams in their schools, and have their doubts cleared in the offline mode, she added.

Sangeeta Hajela, Principal of DPS Indirapuram, and Priyanka Barara, Principal of MRG School in Rohini spoke to PTI regarding how the schedule assists schools to prepare revision modules for the students. 

As experts and educationalists expressed their worries about compelling students to appear for board exams without offline classes, this news was a relief.

Ms Reema Rai, Principal, Aravali International School, Faridabad, expressed relief by saying that it is imperative for students to appear for mock or pre-board examinations before they appear for their boards. 

She said that the decision is a “positive step” and in the view of the arrival of the vaccine is definitely a relief to students and parents alike.
