After the CBSE syllabus has been reduced, the coaching industry and candidates for JEE and NEET are hoping to hear similar news.

On 7 July, the Union HRD Minister announced that 30 percent of the syllabus would be reduced for classes 9 to 12 of CBSE.

The Board followed the orders by reducing 33 percent of the syllabus for Classes 9 to 12.

The JEE Main and NEET are both held by the National Testing Agency. Coaching institutes feel that the body should communicate with students. According to Panini Telang, who owns a coaching institute, teachers also need clarity since online classes are now being held. Teachers are unsure if the topics they are teaching will be included in JEE.

Sameer Phale, another coaching institute owner, said that it is important to be clear about which topics will be included in the syllabus and which topics will be dropped. “We are all interested in what NTA has decided,” he said.

Yet another coaching institute owner, Yogesh Sharma, said the reduction of the course ought to be aligned with CBSE. “Students prepare completely using CBSE curriculum as their benchmark. I sincerely hope that the reduction from NTA’s syllabus is exactly the same as that will help students to prepare in a better way,” he said.

Social media is also abuzz since Tuesday night with many students tweeting about their demand to cut the syllabus. Many students are questioning why the government has not even mentioned JEE and NEET.
