Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman is a private institution founded in 2002. The university opened its door to a batch of 411 students on the Petaling Jaya campus. Currently, the university has an annual enrollment of more than 22,000 students at its campuses in Kampar, Perak and Bandar Sungai Long, Selangor. The university has international students from more than 30 countries coming for higher education in Malaysia. It is a comprehensive university offering more than 120 programs from the foundation to PhD levels in the fields of Accounting, Business and Management, Arts, Engineering, Medicine and Health Sciences, Information and Communication Technology and others.
Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman has a simple and well-defined application process. The university accepts applications through its online portal. International students are charged an application processing fee of 300 RM. There are no formal cut-off dates however applicants are advised to complete their applications at least 2 to 3 months prior to the intended program start date. There are 3 intake months for admission to UTAR i.e. January, June and October. The status of complete applications is updated within 7 days from the receipt of the application.
Admission to Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman is determined solely on a merit basis. All applicants are expected to fulfil the general academics and appear for the test to study in Malaysia. For certain programs, additional documents such as a portfolio is an important requirement and an interview round may also be conducted. Graduate program applicants are expected to have a bachelor’s degree with a minimum CGPA of 2.75. Applicants with a lower GPA must be able to provide proof of sufficient work experience, usually 5 years for admission. Standardized test scores are not required for admission to graduate programs.

Universti Tunku Abdul Rahman has two campuses: UTAR Kampar Campus in Perak and UTAR Sungai Long Campus in Klang Valley. Located 190 km from Kuala Lumpur, off the North-South Highway. Kampar Campus offers a natural and tranquil setting that is suited for studying, teaching, and research, with mountains and stunning lakes.
