Karnataka PGCET 2022 Reservation, Eligibility, Category-wise Reservation Criteria
Karnataka Reservation policies and criteria are applicable for Karnataka candidates only. The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA), coordinating body, conducts the exam for admission to MBA/ MCA/ M.Tech. /M.E./ M.Arch. programs. Selecting the specific category at the time of registration will not make you eligible to avail the benefits associated with the reservation policy. It is mandatory to provide the necessary documents as well. Read on to know more about Karnataka PGCET Reservation Criteria, Necessary documents etc.
Note: GATE qualifiers are exempted from the examination. But, they must register for selection procedure/ counselling to score a seat in their preferred institute. GATE Scores are valid for upto 3 years and these candidates are given first preference.
Seats Reservation
Karnataka PGCET 2022 Reservation of Seats
As per the reservation policy, 70% of the available seats in every program in any regional University/ educational institution located in the local area are reserved in favor of the local persons. The reservation of seats are as follows:
- The part of the State called the Hyderabad-Karnataka Region comprising the districts of Bidar, Gulbarga, Yadgir, Raichur, Koppal and Bellary are regarded as the local area
- 8% of the available seats in every course of study provided in a state-wise University or a statewide educational institution are allocated among the local candidates of the Hyderabad-Karnataka Region under Karnataka PGCET Reservation Policy
- The eligible candidates have to produce relevant certificates issued by the concerned Assistant Commissioner during document verification to become eligible to claim seat under Hyderabad-Karnataka reservation criteria.
- Only those candidates of Karnataka state who fulfill Karnataka PGCET 2022 Eligibility for Government seats in accordance with clause a, b, c, d, and h for the respective courses are considered eligible to claim the benefit of Karnataka PGCET Reservation under this sub-rule.
- The non-Karnataka candidates are not considered eligible to claim the benefit of PGCET Reservation
- The interse merit determined under Rule - 6 remains the same for the purpose of eligibility and benefit of reservations.
- If any seat reserved in favor of candidates belonging to any of the categories is not filled up due to non-availability of eligible candidates belonging to such categories, Karnataka PGCET Reservation to that extent stands reduced and is transferred to the General Merit category during Casual vacancy round Karnataka PGCET Seat allocation.
- The Seat Allotment process is conducted as per the reservation policies of the Government.

Ex-Defense Special
Karnataka PGCET 2022 Reservation: Ex-Defense Special Category
- Code for candidates of Ex-Defence special category is ‘U’
- Son or daughter of Ex-Servicemen have to obtain and produce a certificate that shows the home address of the parent
- The certificate must be issued by the Joint Director or Deputy Director of the candidate’s district and countersigned by the Director, Department of Sainik Welfare and Resettlement, Bangalore
- Any candidate who fails to produce the certificate is not allowed for verification of certificates and also for later seat allotment under Ex-Defence.
- Ex-Servicemen for the purpose of this clause includes personnel belonging to the Civil GT COYS ASC who are Civilian Class 3 or Class 4 Government Servants, who became permanently disabled or were killed during hostilities
- The ex-defence reservation benefit is not applicable for the candidates who apply for ME, M.Arch. and M.Tech. courses
Physically Disabled Special
Karnataka PGCET 2022 Reservation: Physically Disabled Special Category
The PWD applicants have 3% seats reserved under the reservation policy. Code for candidates claiming Karnataka PGCET 2022 Reservation under physically disabled special category is ‘V’. PGCET 2022 Reservation for Physically Disabled Special category is given below:
- The candidates claiming reservation under this category are required to appear for Medical examination on the specified date
- Medical Examination is taken before a Committee which includes the Executive Director, KEA as Chairman and three specialists from the Department of Orthopedics, Ophthalmology and ENT which are nominated by the Government
- Candidates with physical disability ranging above 40% have to produce a Medical certificate issued by competent Doctor of any Government Hospital located in the State of Karnataka in the field of disability the candidate suffers, on the day of Medical examination only
- It is mandatory for the candidates who suffer from hearing disability to obtain and produce a BSER (Brain Stem Evoked Response) Audiometry report from NIMHANS, Manipal Hospital or Government Speech and Hearing Institute, Lingarajapuram, Bangalore.
- The Medical Board examines the candidate and certificate and certify regarding the percentage of disability
- The decision of the Medical Board is considered as final
- For the purpose of this provision, persons with disability have the same meaning assigned to it as in the Persons with Disabilities Act 1995 (Equal Opportunities, Protection of Rights and Participation)
- The candidates who suffer from less than 40% of the disability are not considered eligible to claim a seat under Physically Disabled category
- The Physically Disabled candidates, who fail to appear before the Committee for Medical examination on specified date are not considered eligible for selection of a seat under Physically Disabled category

Karnataka PGCET: Reservation for Karnataka Candidates
Karnataka PGCET 2022 Reservation is made in favor of candidates who belong to the scheduled caste (SC), scheduled tribe (ST) and other backward class (OBC) of citizens under categories 1, 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B in accordance with Government Order No. SWL 251 BCA 94 dated 31st January, 1995. The Karnataka PGCET 2022 Reservation for Karnataka Candidates is given below:
- It is mandatory for a candidate to produce a ‘Caste Certificate or Caste Income Certificate’ that is issued by the concerned Jurisdictional Tahsildar in accordance with the Government Order No. Sa Ka E 225 BCA 2002 dated March 30, 2002, as amended from time to time. - The SC, ST and Category-1 candidates are exempted from payment of tuition fees if their annual income is less than INR 2.5 lakhs
- Relevant government orders must be read by a candidate for details
- The candidates belonging to other backward class have to pay the fees to CET
- Such candidates can apply for reimbursement from the Backward Class Department after admission to the concerned colleges

- Provided that candidates belonging to SC, ST and Category - I have to produce an Income certificate that is issued by Jurisdictional Tahsildar in the prescribed format
- The income certificate is produced for the purpose of processing eligibility of candidates to claim Government of India scholarship
