IIT JAM Eligibility 2023 - Age Limit, Category-Wise Eligibility, Minimum Marks and Qualification

    IIT JAM 2023 Eligibility Criteria has been relaxed for all the candidates. The authority has removed the criteria of minimum marks required in the UG programs to become eligible for the admission process. This year, candidates who will qualify the exam will directly become eligible for admission on IIT JAM scores. The exam is scheduled to be held on Feb 12, 2023. Check IIT JAM 2023 Exam Dates 

    • Based on the updated IIT JAM eligibility criteria, the candidates must pass the qualifying degree examination. Also, if a candidate is promoted without a mark sheet then he/she can submit the promotion certificate with the details of the subjects taken in that semester/year to evaluate the MEQ requirements for admission to a specific program.
    • Candidates who are pursuing the qualifying examination have to submit proof of passing the qualifying examination to the admitting institute by Sep 30, 2023.
    • There is no restriction in the upper age limit for IIT JAM. The reservation policy will be as per government norms. Check IIT JAM 2022 Reservation
    • Indian nationals, as well as foreign nationals, are eligible to appear for IIT JAM 2023.

    Ques. What percentage of marks do I need to secure as per IIT JAM Eligibility 2023 to appear in the exam?

    Ans. The authority has removed the minimum marks criteria to become eligible for the admission process. From this year, all the candidates who are fulfilling the minimum educational qualification are eligible for admission. Earlier, candidates were required to secure 55% of marks in aggregate in their graduation. 

    Ques. Is IIT JAM 2023 eligibility criteria allow candidates who are in the final year exam of degree courses?

    Ans. Yes, in this case, candidates who are pursuing the qualifying examination have to submit proof of passing the qualifying examination to the admitting institute by Sep 30, 2023.

    Ques. What is the maximum age limit to appear in the exam as per IIT JAM 2023 eligibility?

    Ans. There is no maximum age limit to appear in IIT JAM 2023. You can appear in the entrance examination at any age.

    Ques. I belong to the SC category. Can I get any relaxation of marks to appear in IIT JAM 2023?

    Ans. Yes, there is a 5% relaxation that will be given to candidates from reserved categories including SC. This relaxation is not applicable for candidates belonging to the OBC category.

    Ques. What percentage of marks do I need to get in my graduation to appear in IIT JAM 2023 if I belong to the OBC category?

    Ans. If you are from the OBC category, you need to secure 55% of marks in aggregate to sit for IIT JAM 2023. This percentage of marks is the same for the candidates belonging to the General category.

    Ques. I have British citizenship. I have completed my graduation from the University of India. Am I eligible to appear in IIT JAM 2023?

    Ans. Yes, though you are a Foreign Nationals, you can appear in IIT JAM 2023 after the completion of your graduation from an Indian University. Any candidate having foreign nationality can sit for the test but the candidate must fulfill all the basic eligibility criteria.

    Ques. I have completed my dual degree program in 2022. Can I appear in IIT JAM 2023?

    Ans. Yes, in that case, you can still apply for IIT JAM 2023. But you need to have the scorecard and certificate of any of the degree programs. And you need to present it at the time of the verification process.

    Ques. I have completed my joint M.Sc and PhD program in Geophysics. Am I eligible to appear in IIT JAM 2023?

    Ans. Yes, after the completion of your graduation program, you can apply for IIT JAM 2023. You must fulfill all the minimum eligibility criteria for that.

    Ques. I am in the third year of my BTech program. Can I take admission through IIT JAM 2023 for MSc?

    Ans. No, you need to have completed your graduation or must have appeared in the final semester of the degree program to appear in IIT JAM 2023. Candidates who are pursuing the third year or second year of the degree program for a duration of 4 years are not eligible to sit for the entrance test.

    Ques. I belong to the ST category. Do I need to submit any category certificate to apply for IIT JAM 2023?

    Ans. No, no candidates from any category need to submit any category certificate to apply for IIT JAM 2023. Candidates need to present some required certificates at the time of the verification process.

    Ques. When do I need to submit the pass certificate of the graduation program for admission through IIT JAM 2023?

    Ans. You need to submit the pass certificate of your graduation program on September 30, 2023. Candidates need to submit this certificate to the concerned institute.
