AILET 2023 Reservation Criteria & Seat Allotment for General/SC/ST/EWS/OBC
AILET 2023 Reservation is carried out by National Law University, Delhi, which allots seats to the candidate for admissions to both UG & PG courses on the basis of the Reservation Category that is marked accordingly. As per the rules, 22%, 10%, 15%, 7.5% reservations are given to OBC, EWS, SC, ST, and PwD, respectively.
- Candidates are provided with the option to file in their category in AILET 2023 Application Form, which is going to be made available with the official exam notification.
- Aspirants must also include their caste certificate with their application form to avail in their respective category.

AILET SC/ST Reservation Criteria
AILET 2023 Reservation for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes
- The Candidate qualified, are going to get the reservation of seats on the basis of a valid certificate of proof from the authority.
- There are 15% seats reserved for the Scheduled Castes and 7.5% seats reserved for the Scheduled Tribes respectively.
- One thing is to be noted that if the number of candidates in the SC category is less than the reserved seats then the seats are carried to the eligible ST category.
- If sufficient numbers of candidates are not there then the seats are carried forward to the unreserved category or general category.
AILET OBC Reservation Criteria
AILET 2023 Reservation for Other Backward Caste
- A total of 22% of the seats are reserved for the OBC or Other Backward Classes, which the candidate can claim on the basis of the valid certificate that should be issued by the authority on or after 1st January, 2022.
- The reservation parameters are followed for all Programs offered by NLU Delhi.
AILET 2023 Reservation for Economically Weaker Sections
- The candidates are given 10% of the reservation seats under this category by the National Law University, Delhi for AILET 2023.
- An income and asset certificate issued by a competent authority is to be produced to claim reservation under this category.
AILET PwD Reservation Criteria
AILET 2023 Reservation for Person with Disability
- 5% vertical reservation is ensured by the university for persons with disabilities across all categories.
- NLU being a nationally accredited institute grants this reservation under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act 2016.
- Thus, seats are reserved in General, OBC, SC, ST, and EWS categories for PwD candidates.
AILET J&K Reservation Criteria
AILET 2023 Reservation for Kashmiri Migrants and J & K residents
- National Law University reserves 2 supernumerary seats for the residents of J & K.
- At the time of filling AILET 2023 Application form the candidates need to upload their documents stating that they belong to this category. Just in case of the seats are unfilled they are forwarded to the other category.
- Concerning to the Kashmiri Pandits and Migrants, the university allots 1 supernumerary seat and if in case it gets unfilled it is carried on to another category accordingly.

- Office of District Magistrate, Additional District Magistrate, Commissioner, Additional Commissioner, Deputy Collector, Collector, First class Stipendiary Magistrate.
- City Magistrate (not below the rank of Stipendiary Magistrate), Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Taluk Magistrate, Executive Magistrate or Extra Assistant Commissioner.
- Chief Presidency Magistrate, Additional Chief Presidency Magistrate and Presidency Magistrate.
- Revenue officer not below the rank of Tehsildar.
- Administrator, Secretary to the Administrator or Development Officer for Lakshadweep and Minicoy Islands.
AILET Merit List
AILET 2023 Merit List
The admission for B.A.LLB, LLM & Ph.D. course at NLU, Delhi depends strictly on the basis of the merit list. On the basis of the minimum marks that the candidate acquires, they are going to be be eligible for the next process.
- A minimum of 40% of the total marks (30% for SC/ST/PwD) is required for the candidates to secure admission to the university.
- University reserves the right to keep the seats vacant if the candidates have failed to touch the minimum Cut Off marks. Check AILET 2023 Cut Off
- For candidates scoring the same percentage of marks in the law exam, the merit is going to be determined on the basis of % of marks in the Intermediate level (10+2 System) / Higher Secondary School or its equivalent examination recognized by the University
- If the merit remains the same, then the marks of Class 10 is going to be taken into consideration. If still there is no change in rank, then the higher percentage shall get preference.
The students once qualified for admission through AILET 2023, securing the minimum cut off have to be present for the AILET 2023 Counselling Process which is mandatory and is going to be held in the National Law University, Delhi Campus respectively.
