BITS is known worldwide these days for its academic culture and its off-the-charts placements. According to some of my friends studying there, M.Sc courses are some of the best courses available in BITS and all its branches.

  • M.Sc is excellent at BITS Goa and they offer lots of job and research opportunities.
  • With the tag of BITS, it will be very easy for students to pursue their further studies such as Ph.D., Hons. from top universities across the globe.
  • The academic knowledge and exposure they would receive from the course in BITS Goa are really valuable.
  • BITS Goa has an excellent team of Physics and professionals in their line of the field.
  • If topics such as quantum physics, quantum mechanics, waves, and black holes spark your interest then M.Sc. in physics would be a very good option for you.
  • BITS is also known for having world-class labs that are equipped with the latest and high-tech tools for the betterment of the students.
  • BITS Goa has collaborations and tie-ups with some of the leading institutes of the world and students get a chance in foreign students exchange programs.

M.Sc in physics, chemistry, or Maths won’t certainly give you the placement you wish for but it will still be good. Placements in M.Sc PCMB are great when the student gets CSE as the engineering branch in the next few years. Also, M.Sc in Economics is very good when it comes to placements and does not depend on the branch you will be getting in the 2nd year based on your CGPA.

Both IIT Kanpur and IIT Madras are excellent institutes for M.Sc in Physics, considering the student is actually interested in learning the subject to the core.
The points below give a brief overview of IIT Madras, stating some of the advantages of choosing it over IIT Kanpur.
? Professors will help you to get involved in challenging projects during your course, with specializations in complex topics like cosmology, etc.
? The main motto of the faculties of IIT Madras is to build their students to at least a certain limit of knowledge, over anything else.
? Most of the professors have a solid foundation in advanced concepts of theoretical physics, for example, Prof. M V Satyanarayana, Prof. M Pattabiraman, Prof. V Balakrishnan, Prof. A Lakshminarayan, etc.
? Although the level of questions set during the exams at IIT Madras is always up to the mark, almost no students fail in the institute due to the teaching facilities offered throughout the year.
? Talking about the campus of IIT Madras, it is extremely beautiful, being close to the sea as well.
Therefore, although both the institutes are equally excellent, IIT Madras can be a better option for students interested in Physics, considering the points listed above.

You should definitely go with BITS Goa. The physics faculty at the institute is really good and no one can reiterate this enough. If you happen to take courses like Mechanics and OScil, you will realize this in the first year itself.

Moreover, the college festival, Waves, is a major highlight. Many discussions regarding the best departments in the college have always had synchronous replies with physics being the major answer. The faculty members are well versed in the field and are dedicated individuals.

But if you are still confused, you must know that the curriculum and syllabus are the same on all three campuses. Your degree will finally specify that you graduated from BITS Pilani.

NIT Durgapur will be better for an M.Sc Physics. The quality of academics and exposure offered is better than any of the non-tech institutes in the region. Most students prepare for competitive examinations like NET, GATE, JEST, BARC, ISRO, etc. NITD also has collaborations with many national institutes and research labs.

Yes, IIEST offers placements to MSc students. But the salary packages offered aren’t very high.

Students who get admission for Int-PhD in Physics at institutes like IISc, IISER Pune, or IISER Kolkata score decent marks in IIT-JAM. You should have a rank under 300 if you want admission at IISc. The required cutoff for IISER Pune remains under 500. For IISER Kolkata, you will need a rank under 700.

Here is an interview experience shared by a senior researcher at IISER

If you want to take a job as a lecturer in Government-run colleges, CURAJ is an appropriate option. It is a very good institution with good infrastructure and a peaceful learning atmosphere.

This course saves one year for the students doing M.Sc. then B.Ed. or vice versa. The faculty at the university is really good. They are from highly respectable institutions with years of educational experience.

It will also save you money. You can learn something else in that one year. So yes choosing CURAJ will prove beneficial for your career.

The chances are less but it does not mean that you cannot get admission. Securing a seat in CURAJ with 33 marks is difficult but you can easily get that in Central University of Punjab (CUPB).

During the first, second and third rounds of counseling, you may or may not get seats but after that the university conducts an open counseling and spot admission.

Every year, seats remain vacant in almost each and every course in CUPB. You may get a seat in the third round of counseling or after that in open counseling.

This is a common dilemma faced by many who are applying for MSc. It requires a great research-oriented approach and thus the choice of the Institute should depend on the research work and projects offered by that institute. One needs a wide range of choices of courses so that you can select the one that matches your area of interest.

Before researching campus life, look up the faculty profiles available on the official website of the institutes. Once you come across a profile with the kind of research work you are looking for and want to work on, then choose that particular Institute.

My friend chose IIT Madras because she found diversity in the fields people worked in there. You can find people working in almost every field from Experimental Condensed Matter, Theoretical Condensed Matter, Nanotechnology, General relativity, and cosmology to String theory, Quantum computation, and chaos, High energy - particle physics, Theoretical and Experimental Optics, and Mathematical aspects.

IIT Madras maintains the right balance between Experimental and Theoretical Physics which is sometimes not possible at other IITs. Despite this many flocks to IIT Kharagpur mainly because of herd mentality. In reality, IIT Madras has a lot to offer provided you are committed to doing your part of your efforts.

It cannot be exactly said how much marks you need to get admission in Central University of Punjab (CUPB) or Central University of Rajasthan (CURAJ).

You should at least have a score of 50% marks if you are from the Unreserved category. It is not that difficult.

The paper contains two sections in which the first section contains 25% questions for general awareness and the second section contains subject matter with 75% weightage.

Almost every year some seats always stay vacant in CUP-B so try scoring more than 45% to secure a seat in this institution.
