If you are looking at the course from the perspective of its acceptability in the industry, then honestly it does not rank very high in the list. It can not be even fully considered a proper Masters in Law degree. One of my friends studied it and here’s what she has to say about it.

  • Masters in Business Law (MBL) is not a full-time LLM course. You cannot take UGC-NET on the basis of this degree.
  • It is quite an expensive course. Not only the course fees but they take additional fees like Rs. 500 for each subject. They have a continuation fee of Rs. 2500.
  • The books suggested are also not elaborate enough to learn about the course. They lack content.
  • There is no transparency in checking answer sheets. If you want your answer sheets rechecked, it will cost you Rs.800 for each paper.

Therefore it is recommended that you do not opt for this course, as it is not an LLM course. The only thing credible about it is the tag you receive from NLSIU.

Masters in Business Law (MBL) from NLSIU is not UGC recognized. If you are an average student willing to pursue this, it is suggested that you look for other options. This is because passing is a tiring task here., it will gradually become harder to drag it for the remaining years. You also have to pay an extension fee of INR 5000 every year.

There are better courses available. Do some market research and then apply, do not get excited with just the brand name NLSIU. This course also has no market value. Companies prefer regular courses or professional courses.

Shreya Das,

The Masters in Business Law (MBL) course from NLSIU is not difficult but the course work is more rigorous than LLB coursework.

Law as a subject in itself requires a thorough readership and effort to get into every detail. It offers 10 subjects. Students with a working background could find it difficult to tackle both sides.

The questions asked in the exams are straightforward compared to the question papers that are set for the regular course students.

Most of the students who fail in the examination are because they are working so taking out time from their schedules to study for exams becomes hectic. However, if you are interested in doing the course then it is highly recommended.
