How to prepare for these MBA Hospitality Management entrance exams?

How to prepare for these MBA Hospitality Management entrance exams?

One of the most important factors responsible for excelling in any entrance exam is to be well aware of the latest exam pattern. Hence one should do thorough research about it in order to develop a clear idea about the exam pattern. Apart from this, one should know the full syllabus of the entrance exam. Mainly there are four sections in almost all the management entrance exams.

  • Verbal ability and reading comprehension
  • Quantitative ability
  • Data interpretation and logical reasoning
  • General knowledge and current affairs

One can refer to the tips given below in order to perform well in any entrance exam:

  • Generally, the entrance exam paper consists of multiple-choice questions. In most of the exams, negative marking is offered for every wrong answer. So, make sure you attempt only those questions which you are sure of.
  • Verbal ability and reading comprehension section generally includes reading comprehension, verbal ability, sentence correction, sentence completion, fill in the blanks, sentence rearrangement, para jumbles, summarizing, etc.
  • The Quantitative ability section is all about basic 10th level mathematics. Some common topics asked under this section are percentage, ratio and proportion, average, allegation, profit and loss, simple interest and compound interest, geometry, trigonometry, algebra, etc.
  • The questions are usually tricky and require a different approach to solving them. Hence one must be very clear with the basics. Practicing more and more questions will eventually lead to more fruitful results.
  • Data interpretation and logical reasoning sections are considered as the toughest section in the whole paper. However, this already set theory can easily be rejected if one does hard work and solves more and more sets of this section.
  • Some MBA entrance exams also have general knowledge and current affairs questions. The types of questions asked under this section are about national and international affairs, businesses, taglines of companies, top officials of big companies, international organizations, social issues, etc.
  • One must read newspapers and news articles daily to stay updated on current affairs.
  • Giving mock tests is the most important part of the whole preparation process. Once done with the syllabus, one must start taking mock tests. One must solve at least 30 to 40 mock tests before appearing for the actual exam.

Your brother has a fairly good chance of section as his CAT percentage is well-above the required cutoff. For 2021, IIM Kozhikode cutoff was 85 (for general category students). But the selection depends a lot on the interview performance too. So, ask your brother to prepare thoroughly for the interview round.

You can go through the section criteria and the admission procedure of the institute to clear any doubts you may have.
