What is BAMS Course?

The BAMS admission process that students should follow to get admission in the course of BAMS are as follows:

  • Admission to the Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery course is done mainly through the entrance examinations.
  • NEET-UG is the exam which the aspirants of BAMS have to qualify for getting admission in Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery.
  • The application fees for appearing in the NEET exam for the general category are INR 1,500 and INR 800 for the SC/ST categories.

BAMS Course Eligibility

The minimum eligibility criteria for applying to the BAMS course are as follows:

  • Candidates need to have a minimum of 50%-60% in their 10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognized board.
  • The minimum required score in the 10+2 may vary according to the different institutions present in India.
  • Candidates must have Physics, Chemistry and Biology as the main subjects in the 12th board examinations.
  • The upper age limit for the candidates appearing for the NEET exam from the general category is 20 years. While a relaxation of 4 years is given to the reserved categories.

BAMS Entrance Exams

The NEET 2023 entrance exam is the most accepted entrance exam for getting into the Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery. There are also some State-level examinations for taking admission to the State Government College for BAMS. The name of these exams are as follows:

KEAM 2023 is also a valid score BAMS Course in the state of Kerala. Students have the option of sitting for this entrance exam after sitting for the NEET exam as well.

Candidates are selected on the basis of the final merit. The final merit list is prepared by calculating the sum of the total score obtained in the qualifying examination as 10+2 and the entrance examination score.

Bridge Course after BAMS

Bridge course after BAMS is provided by IGNOU. The program has 18 credit points which can be divided into 8 credits in theory and 10 credits in practical. The program has been active since January 2017.

The program is a part of Ayushman Bharat and aims to improve the abilities and competencies of nurses and ayurveda practitioners. The program is open for sponsored candidates from National Health Mission (NHM), MOHFW, Govt. of India through the State Health Mission/ State Government. The program was designed and developed with the funding of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, GOI (NHM)

BAMS Syllabus

  • The BAMS Syllabus consists of three different sections of the academic semester of 1 and ½ years each.
  • These semesters in BAMS Syllabus are known as the three professional courses.
  • The first professional course in the BAMS syllabus consists of anatomy, physiology and history of the Ayurvedic system.
  • The second course in the BAMS syllabus contains biology and pharmacology and the final course of BAMS Syllabus contains surgery, ENT, skin, obstetrics and gynecology.
  • This graduate degree program consists of 4 and ½ years in the academic session and a one-year internship program with live projects.
