Eligibility Criteria

Basic Eligibility Criteria:

Students with minimum 60% marks in aggregate (overall percentage with all subjects where an Honours system is not applicable) in Bachelor's or equivalent degree. or
60% marks in the Honours/major subject only in aggregate (where such a system is applicable) in Mathematics /Statistics/ Mathematical Sciences (All areas) or any equivalent degree.
If the scoring system follows a CGPI, the minimum score should be 6.0 on a 10-point scale in BA/B.Sc/B.E./B.Tech. or equivalent satisfying one of the above criteria.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

JAM 2023 (MA - Mathematics or MS-Mathematical Statistics) or Valid NBHM PhD examination score.

Course Details

Note:

The minimum duration for iPhD programme is 5 years, including the first two years of the MS-phase.
Every iPhD student will be provided residence in the Institute hostel. Students staying on campus have to reside in the hostel to which she/he is assigned. A student residing in the hostel has to abide by the rules and regulations laid down by the Office of Students’ Affairs.
The maximum duration of the Integrated Ph.D. programme is 14 semesters. At the end of 14 semesters, the registration will automatically be cancelled and any re-registration must have the approval of the Senate.
Under exceptional circumstances, the period of residency can be extended up to 9 years with the approval of the Chairperson, Senate, on the recommendation of Convener, DPGC, and DoAA.

Which is better IISER Berhampur or Shiv Nadar University for BSc MSc in Physics?

Both the universities are well renowned and are known for their quality education and placements. Whereas, the only difference lies in the selection procedure.

IISERs only accept admissions on the basis of JEE Advanced scores. Thus, giving you a better peer group. But SNU also offers a good BSc/MSc program for Physics.

Thus, choosing any one of them is definitely a tough task. But given the choice between the two, students tend to go with IISER, due to its selection factor.

Which would be wise to choose between Pondicherry University and IISER Berhampur or Tirupati if I want a physics major?

The wise choice would be to go with your interests or the location which would be favorable for you as both these universities are really good. Still, to choose any one of them, let's have a look at the following points:

Pondicherry University:

The university has a NIRF ranking of 87. It is well known for its campus and outstanding faculties.
It has well-maintained and equipped labs, a highly recognized international network, and a friendly environment.

IISER Berhampur or Tirupati:

IISER mainly focuses on quality education and for physics major students this is the most important criteria.
They are well known for their placements and industrial exposure.

As both the universities have their own advantages and disadvantages, choosing any one of them can get quite hectic. If you are comfortable in getting into newer institutes then you can go with IISERs. But according to the alumnus, for undergraduate studies colleges do not matter that much, it depends on you individually, anyways no matter whichever College you choose they will have few drawbacks, you have to make sure that you work hard, grab opportunities and make the best out of them.
