College of Engineering [CEG] Guindy BE and B.Tech Admission 2023

At undergraduate level, College of Engineering, Anna University offers BE and B.Tech programs to the candidates who are aspiring for a career in the Engineering field. The B.E program is offered under 13 different disciplines and the B.Tech program is specialized in Information Technology. The duration period for the B.E and B.Tech courses is four years. The college also provides a lateral entry in the B.E and B.Tech second year for which the duration is three years.

In order to seek admission in the B.E and B.Tech courses, aspiring candidates will have to go through Tamil Nadu Engineering Admission (TNEA) followed by a counselling round conducted by Anna University. However, candidates need to pass 10+2 level examination with PCM combination with minimum 50% marks, in order to get admission to the B.E. or B.Tech program.

The admission to the B.E and B.Tech programs are through a Single Window Admission System, administered by Anna University. The higher secondary marks are scaled to 200, based on which the merit list/ ranks are released. counselling is conducted based upon the ranking in TNEA.

College of Engineering [CEG] ME and M.Tech Admission 2023

At the postgraduate level, CEG Anna University offers Master of Engineering (M.E.) and Master of Technology (M.Tech) for a duration period of two years. The college also offers part-time M.E and M.Tech programs for the working professionals, for which the course duration is three years.

For admission to the first semester of the M.E or M.Tech programs, candidates shall be required to have passed an appropriate qualifying Degree prescribed by Director of Technical Education, Government of Tamilnadu.

The candidates who meet the eligibility criteria, need to appear in Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET) conducted by the Anna University. Admission to the M.E and M.Tech programs are also done based on the score secured in GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering).

College of Engineering [CEG] MCA and MBA Admission 2023

College of Engineering, Anna University also offers Master's degree in Computer Applications (MCA) and Business Administration (MBA) at the postgraduate level. The MCA program takes three years to complete its duration period while the MBA program is offered with the duration period of two years.

Candidates seeking admission to the MCA (Master of Computer Application) and MBA ( Master of Business Administration) programs are required to fulfil the conditions of admission thereto prescribed by Anna University, Chennai.

Admission to the MCA and MBA degree programs are through Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET) conducted by the Anna University.

College of Engineering [CEG] M.Sc, Integrated M.Sc and M.Phil Admission 2023

In addition to the above mentioned courses, CEG Anna University offers a two-year M.Sc degree (Master of Science) and a five-year integrated M.Sc degree program. Both the programs are provided with multiple specializations. The college also offers M.Phil degree program at the postgraduate level. The duration period of the M.Phil program is one year.

Admission to the M.Sc, Integrated M.Sc and M.Phil programs are done through a separate Entrance examination followed by a counselling round. Candidates will be called for counselling as per merit list prepared based on the marks secured in the entrance examination conducted by Anna University.

Allotment of seats will be through counselling following the rule of reservation of

Government of Tamil Nadu. Reservation shall be made under seven categories namely OC, BC (other than BC Muslim), BCM (BC Muslim), MBC / DNC, SC, SCA and ST.

Tamil Nadu Native candidates alone will be considered for communal reservation. Community Certificates obtained from Other States will not be considered for communal reservation.

I have a few friends from both NIT Trichy and CEG and here is what I gathered from my conversations with them. In terms of ranking, NIT Trichy is placed higher than CEG. This is because NIT admits students based on JEE Mains ranking and CEG admits students based on board marks. In terms of placements, NIT Trichy would be way ahead of CEG. The college enjoys a better reputation and big firms come for placements. For ECE, then recruiting companies visiting the on-campus placements at NIT Trichy are Qualcomm, Texas Instruments, SanDisk, Nvidia, etc. The average CTC offered is 6 LPA. You can also go for higher education if you have a good GPA and great projects. The faculty team is overall good. A few of them are extremely knowledgeable and conduct high-quality research. In terms of facilities, NIT Trichy has an edge over CEG. Since CEG is in Chennai, there are other sources of enjoyment but NIT Trichy is 20 km away from Trichy. Overall, NIT Trichy will be a better choice than CEG.

Among the above institutes, PEC Chandigarh is the best choice, considering the factors of availability in streams, fee structure, etc. If you have a specific branch in mind to pursue, then you can definitely choose PEC Chandigarh. But if you are considering a non-IIIT or non-NIT tag then you can opt for DTU. The table below gives a brief level of comparison among the institutes. NIT Puducherry is very new compared to College of Engineering Guindy (CEG). Let me share some points which might help you decide. CEG is very old and experienced as an educational institution. It has well-established CSE and ECE departments with exceptional and updated lab facilities. The syllabus is more or less similar in both colleges. CEG has a more competitive student crowd which eventually helps students to boost their morale. Due to its years of educational experience, CEG definitely has a better placement record than NIT Puducherry. Categories CEG NIT Puducherry Course Fee 2 lakh 5.49 lakh Placement Percentage 80% 65% Highest CTC 22 LPA 15 LPA Average CTC 7.5 LPA 4 LPA Recruiting Companies TCS, HP, Cognizant, Dell, etc. L&T, EY, JP Morgan, TCS, etc. It is recommended that you go for CEG if you have to choose between these two. One of my friends studied at College of Engineering Guindy (CEG). According to him, it is a good institution, CSE being the highlighted department. Let me share the details I got to know from him. CSE students are very much dedicated to their projects and assignments. The faculty members are also very cooperative and highly experienced in their respective fields. CSE always had and maintained a good placement record. The campus itself is very huge, providing an appropriate place for students to study. There are active clubs and international techno-management Fest 'Kurukshetra' and cultural fest 'Techofes'. They also have a club for quizzes, Industrial quality maintenance, social activities, photography, college magazine, all of which are active throughout the year. Well, It totally depends on the course that you take in the respective Universities. As far as MBA goes, Operations, Marketing, Systems, or any other stream of management that is related to Engineering are better off in College of Engineering, Guindy and HR, Marketing, and streams related to arts are at their best in the University of Madras. Talking in terms of placements both colleges are equal. In terms of tuition fees, the College of Engineering, Guindy is quite cheap. I don’t think comparing both the colleges i.eAnna University College of Engineering and NIT Trichy is justified. This is because both are equally good in almost all the parameters. Both ranked among the top Engineering colleges in India. I have made a slight comparison based on the following factors to make a better choice: Placements: NIT Trichy has an upper hand in placements. More core companies visit NITs in general than CEGs. This is because NIT is an established brand name. Higher studies: CEG is slightly privileged in this aspect as it considers the TN state boards marks whereas NIT considers JEE performance. So the former is easier than the latter. College life: College life at CEG is better because of its location. You can eat outside the hostel as many restaurants are available near the college. But NIT Trichy is far from the city so options for exploring are fewer. Lastly, keep in mind that if you are choosing NIT then go for Trichy or Kurukshetra only. Don’t go for any other NIT leaving CEG.
