Eligibility Criteria

Graduation and a bachelor’s degree obtained through the 10+2+3 system or an equivalent qualification with a minimum aggregate of 50% or equivalent CGPA of any of the Universities incorporated by an act of the central or state legislature in India. A Relaxation of 5% aggregate is there for SC/ST candidates. The candidates should have completed graduation in any of the following:

Which is better, IHM Mumbai or IHM Pusa?

Both IHM Mumbai and IHM Pusa are reputed institutes for hotel management. The comparison between these two institutes seems to have no end. No matter which institute you join, you will learn to love it. Both offer decent academics. India Today ranked IHM Pusa and IHM Mumbai 1st and 3rd for Hotel Management respectively.

When you are choosing one of these two make sure you consider the factors like hostel, city, food, distance from your home. Talk to the current students and go for the culture that attracts you more.

I am currently preparing for NCHMCT 2022 and wanted to know what book should I refer to and personal tips to get into IHM Pusa or Mumbai?

If you are preparing for NCHMCT 2022, try to get your hands on the previous year question papers. These will help you get an idea about the question pattern. The question paper is usually quite easy. Here are some of the reference books that you can use for your preparation.

Quantitative Aptitude by RS Aggarwal

For current affairs, mostly question papers from previous years are repeated. You can also study hotel magazines to stay updated.

My IHM rank is 503. I have been allotted IHM Mumbai. Will I be able to get IHM Pusa in the second round or the spot counselling round?

It depends on your category. Since you have gotten IHM Mumbai with a rank of 503, it’s safe to assume you are from the general category. So, there are good chances that you will get IHM Pusa. You should wait till the spot round.

Otherwise, IHM Mumbai is a decent alternative. You will get to learn a lot there.

What is the amount of expenses incurred per annum at IHM Pusa, Delhi, and IHM Mumbai (including fees, hostel charges, and all other expenses)?

The total course fee for a bachelor's degree at IHM Pusa and IHM Mumbai is INR 3.13 lakhs and 3.78 lakhs. The hostel fees at IHM Pusa Delhi is INR 67,5000 - 97,000. At IHM Mumbai the hostel fee is INR 15,000 - INR 20,000. You will find the detailed fees information on the college websites.

My all India rank in NCHMCT JEE is 685. Would it be sufficient to get admission in IHM mumbai IHM PUSA.?

Whether or not you will get admission at IHMs with a rank of 685, depends on your category. If you are a general category student, you won’t get admission at IHM Pusa with your rank. But if you are from any reserved category then you can choose either IHM Mumbai or IHM Pusa with your rank.

What salary could one expect from placements from IHM Pusa, Mumbai and Goa?

Although the initial salary packages offered by IHMs are good, don’t expect a cushy package. Your salary package will depend on the company that you are going to work for. It can range between INR 15,000 - INR 30,000/month. You can also get increments depending on the company rules. You should prepare thoroughly for the interview.

If you go through the management trainee program for some hostel you will get around INR 20,000 - INR 24,000. After completing the 2-year long trainee program you can expect to get a salary package of INR 40,000 - INR 50,000/month.

If you go through the management trainee program for food companies like KFC, Dominos, Starbucks then you can expect to earn around INR 25,000 for 2 years. After the training period, you will get salary packages around INR 30,000 - INR 40,000/month. The retail company job profiles also have a similar pay.

So, first, you should complete your management trainee program from a company that way you can start easily.
